If scientists go through 'gain of function' to create a new virus, then that virus can have a patent and be the 'intellectual property' of the person/corp that created it. That's how I understand it anyway.
It's a good question. I think that the answer will be 'no' though. I think that the person will be considered a victim of science gone insane - way past Mengele levels atrocity.
