Back in the 70's, I had the pleasure of using word processing software on, I think, a Micom computer. Amazing what it could do with just the little bit of code that could fit on a floppy disk. You could switch between single-column and multi-column paragraphs in an instant. It did a bunch of other stuff that I don't remember but, damn, it felt so slick and responsive. Years later, I had the displeasure of using a word processor on the IBM PC that couldn't even keep up with my typing speed. Made me sad.
