I did some gigging on the gas side of Iran today. While it is a billion dollar industry on that side of the world, it doesn't seem like black market stuff.
Iran has the world's largest gas reserves. They were planning to tie into the Southern Gas Corridor with the EU thru Spain, once sanctions were lifter in 2015/2016. The EU benefits by not having to rely on Russia as much. But Iran would end up using more than they sold, so it would help their economy. Just not as much as the gas help Qatar.
Soon as sanctions were lifted Total was the only gas/oil company to invest in Iran at the time. On the up and up, both Iran and Total stand to lose billions by the coming sanctions. Just can't see that as being something that is black market worthy.
Another thought I had was a human trafficking network. Iran being so isolated with sanctions meant trafficking from there was probably limited. I don't know if Syria or Turkey have a trafficking network already in place, so this may be a dead end.
