Yeah quinine was used in olden days. Same thing. Helped with malaria from mosquitos. It was in powder form and bitter.
My thought is he poo pooed it because he wanted people to catch the flu and he wanted people to die. My parents were given it years ago before a trip to China. My neighbor has been on it for years for his arthritis. It’s given for lupus. Absolutely nothing dangerous about it and stupid people believed him rather than do their homework. Plus doctors were barred from rx as a prophylaxis but that’s another story.
I know Nakasone in a roundabout way and from what I know, he was good at one time. Don’t have contact with him now and haven’t in years, so cannot attest to recent events, but his upbringing/schooling/mil career was normal.
