The Heat Wave Just Caused an Ice Quake in Alaska

https://gizmodo.com/the-heat-wave-just-caused-an-ice-quake-in-alaska-1847199329

The ice quake in Alaska was recorded at a depth of about four miles, and was distinct from a separate undersea earthquake — a 4.0-magnitude temblor— that occurred off the coast of Oregon at 10:03 a.m. on June 29 at a depth of eight miles.

With climate change here to stay, it’s all but inevitable that these types of stresses will continue to plague areas of the world much better accustomed to cooler temperatures. Infrastructure development will need to adapt in order to better accommodate the extreme weather patterns that are set to become our new normal — or maybe the ice quakes will swallow us all. Whatever comes first.

At the Politburo meeting, Kim criticized the senior officials for supposed incompetence, irresponsibility and passiveness in planning and executing anti-virus measures amid the lengthening pandemic, the North’s official Korean Central News Agency said.

Kim said “senior officials in charge of important state affairs neglected the implementation of the important decisions of the party on taking organizational, institutional, material, scientific and technological measures as required by the prolonged state emergency epidemic prevention campaign,” according to the KCNA. This “caused a crucial case of creating a great crisis in ensuring the security of the state and safety of the people and entailed grave consequences.”

No Apology Yet; Pope Francis to Meet with Canadian Indigenous Leaders in December

https://nativenewsonline.net/currents/no-apology-yet-pope-francis-to-meet-with-canadian-indigenous-leaders-in-december

The announcement comes in the wake of announcements of the discovery of graves at two Canadian Indian residentials schools. In late May the discovery of the remains of 215 children in unmarked graves at a former residential school site in Kamloops, which is located in the southeastern region of British Columbia was announced. Then, on last Thursday, Chief Cadmus Delorme of the Cowessess First Nation announced the discovery of as many as 751 unmarked graves at the former Marieval Indian Residential School in the province of Saskatchewan, about 1600 kilometers from Kamloops.

*Maybe the People of Canada including First Nations will demand how much money was paid to many First Nation bands who were paid for silence as 'they knew'.

How many First Nation bands in Canada also participate in trafficking, drugs and money laundering?

Does anyone think an apology from the Pope will heal generational hurts involving their family members at these schools??

It would be a public gesture, one filled with emptiness for those involved in this horrific history that will forever tarnish Canada and the Church and all that knew…

MARION, S.C. — A former South Carolina state lawmaker and failed congressional candidate has been placed on leave from her Pentagon job during a probe into allegations of an unauthorized release of classified information, according to her attorney.

Since early 2019, Katie Arrington has been working as chief information officer for the Acquisition and Sustainment Office at the Defense Department, overseeing a cybersecurity initiative.

On May 11, she was informed that “her security clearance for access to classified information is being suspended” as “a result of a reported Unauthorized Disclosure of Classified Information and subsequent removal of access by the National Security Agency,” according to a memo first reported by Bloomberg News and confirmed Tuesday to The Associated Press by Mark Zaid, Arrington’s attorney.

UK MPs Visit Belmarsh Prison to Demand a Meeting With Assange

https://www.telesurenglish.net/news/UK-MPs-Visit-Belmarsh-Prison-to-Demand-a-Meeting-With-Assange-20210629-0027.html

In an unprecedented move, a British parliamentary working group comprising several MPs from various parties handed a letter to the governor of South London Belmarsh prison, where Julian Assange, Wikileaks founder, investigative journalist, and political prisoner, is still unjustly imprisoned.

This Tuesday, UK Members of Parliament (MPs) Richard Burgon, Hackney Abbott, and Jeremy Corbyn visited South London HMP Belmarsh to deliver a letter from Parliamentarians from 4 parties protesting the repeated refusal by the authorities to allow MPs to meet with Julian Assange.

Mr. Assange remains locked up at the Covid-hit south London prison pending an appeal after he beat an extradition case brought by the US. But the journalist continues to face up to 175 years in jail if convicted of espionage in a US court, after revealing the country’s war crimes.

The investigative journalist and founder of Wikileaks has already spent two years in jail since he was removed from the Ecuadorian embassy in London in 2019 and has had bail requests denied three times.
