Newsom Changes Timing of His Own Recall Election in Attempt to Suppress Votes Against Him

California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) changed the timing of his own recall election in an attempt to suppress votes against him.

Earlier this year recall organizers gathered over the needed 1.5 million signatures to force a recall election this year.

But the Democrats in the California swamp are up to their old tricks.

The Democrat-led California legislature voted on party line on Monday to move the recall election up which would benefit Newsom — and Newsom quickly signed the measure.

Republicans argued that Newsom is changing the rules to take advantage of his higher approval rating coming out of the Covid lockdown.

The Sacramento Bee reported:

California lawmakers on Monday passed a bill that will change portions of the state elections code in an effort to benefit Gov. Gavin Newsom in the all-but-certain recall election to be held later this year.

Newsom quickly signed the measure, SB 152, which lets state officials bypass one of the steps of certifying the recall election.

Under the previous law, the Department of Finance was to issue a cost estimate, after which the Joint Legislative Budget Committee had 30 days to review and comment on the costs. Both the review by finance and the review by lawmakers were steps put into place less than four years ago by Democratic lawmakers.

The changes could speed up the timeline for a Newsom recall. Once the Secretary of State’s office certifies the recall, Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis is required to schedule the election in no less than 60 days and no more than 80 days. Some Democrats have suggested an earlier recall date will benefit the governor, who is currently riding a wave of approval as California reopens and the state coffers are overflowing with an $80 billion surplus.

California Republican state lawmaker Kevin Kiley blasted Newsom for changing the rules of his own recall election.

This is the second time in California’s history that a campaign has successfully triggered a recall election to oust a governor — out of 55 attempts!

Former California Governor Gray Davis (D) was recalled in 2003 over the state’s energy crisis, rolling blackouts and skyrocketing car registration fees.

Democrat Plan Spends $870M for Border Security in Middle East, No Funding for U.S. Border Wall

A Democrat budget plan spends hundreds of millions of American taxpayer money on border security for a multitude of Middle Eastern countries while stripping all funds for construction of a border wall at the United States-Mexico border.

On Tuesday, the Democrat-controlled House Appropriations Committee released their Department of Defense funding bill that includes $870 million in taxpayer money for “border security” measures in foreign countries such as Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, Tunisia, and Oman.

Of that funding, $150 million will go to Jordan to help “enhanced border security.” Likewise, the budget allocates $500 million to be used “to provide assistance to the government of Jordan to support the armed forces of Jordan and to enhance security along its borders.”

While the budget funds border security in the Middle East, an accompanying Department of Homeland Security (DHS) budget released by House Democrats on Tuesday strips all funding for construction of a border wall at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Specifically, the DHS budget rescinds the previously appropriated $2.06 billion for border wall construction and provides no funding for additional U.S. Border Patrol agents. It also allows up to $100 million that was previously designated to build a border wall to instead go to the Department of Interior.

The funding initiatives come as illegal immigration has continued to skyrocket under the President Joe Biden’s administration’s expansive Catch and Release policy whereby border crossers are being quickly released into the U.S. interior after a brief detainment with DHS.

Current projections predict that about 1.2 million border crossers will be encountered at the border by the end of the year and hundreds of thousands more will successfully cross the border, undetected.

New York City Mayor's Race "Plunges Into Chaos" As 130,000 'Test-Run' Votes Lead To Unprecedented "Discrepancy"

Update (2220ET): Wtih the New York City Mayoral race "plunged into chaos" (as the NYT puts it), journalist Bob Hardt now reports that the Board of Elections counted 130,000 'test-run' votes, which would account for most of the 'discrepancy' reported earlier. Hardt added that the BoE will now head 'back to the drawing board' to produce corrected ranked-choice numbers tomorrow. Presumably by then the outcome of the election will have been decided and things can go smoother then…

Supreme Court Leaves Eviction Moratorium Intact As Roberts And Kavanaugh Join Liberals

While it has long been known that Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts is a CINO (conservative in name only), it may come as a surprise that one of Trump's own SCOTUS appointees, Brett Kavanaugh, sided with the three supreme court justices in a divided decision refusing to lift the moratorium on evictions implemented by the CDC during the covid pandemic and which is due to expire in any case at the end of July.

The 5-4 vote had little practical value, and rejected calls by landlords and real-estate trade associations from Alabama and Georgia to block the moratorium while their challenge goes forward. They contend the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention exceeded its authority by imposing the ban.

Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh joined the court’s three liberals in the majority. Kavanaugh cast the pivotal vote, saying he was letting the ban stay in effect even though he thought the CDC had exceeded its power.

“Because the CDC plans to end the moratorium in only a few weeks, on July 31, and because those few weeks will allow for additional and more orderly distribution of the congressionally appropriated rental assistance funds, I vote at this time to deny the application,” Kavanaugh wrote.

One wonder how he would have voted if the moratorium was set to end at the end of the year, or next summer? We'll find out after the next split vote from SCOTUS. In any case, Kavanaugh said he would require congressional authorization to extend the ban beyond July 31, something the CDC has said it doesn’t intend to do but then again the CDC also appears unaware of the full-court press from the mainstream media to elevate the panic level over the Delta variant to code red in advance of another round of global lockdowns.

The other eight justices gave no explanation. Justices Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett said they would have blocked the moratorium. The liberals, of course, were all for letting squatters live rent free in perpetuity.

The decision came after a federal trial judge ruled that the moratorium exceeded the CDC’s authority but then put a stay on the ruling while the government appealed. The challengers then asked the Supreme Court to lift the stay.

The ban applies to tenants who, if evicted, would have “no other available housing options." The CDC and President Joe Biden’s administration say the moratorium is geared toward protecting tenants who would be forced to live in close quarters elsewhere or become homeless and dependent on shelters.

Connecticut Republican Sen. Rob Sampson: Critical Race Theory Is ‘Trojan Reparations’

Conservative Connecticut state Sen. Rob Sampson (R) told Breitbart News in an interview Monday he views the move by Democrats to push Critical Race Theory into the nation’s culture and schools “Trojan reparations.”

“Essentially what they’re trying to do is, the Democratic Party operates by creating victims,” he explained. “And this is a mechanism built to perpetuate the myth that this is a racist country and to, to perpetuate the notion that, if you’re a minority in this country, you can’t get ahead, and therefore, you have victimhood status and you need someone to advocate on your behalf.”

“And, lo and behold, the Democratic Party is here to save you,” he said.

“But what’s really interesting is that they’ve been pushing this agenda for the last decade, I think pretty aggressively, without a lot of pushback,” said Sampson, who is now serving his 11th year in the Connecticut legislature, and is one of the few conservative lawmakers in the Democrat-led state.

“We’ve had countless bills, pushing this agenda in various forms, and, generally speaking, my Republican colleagues, you know, they just keep their heads down and let it slide by,” he said.

Sampson said his exasperation reached a peak this year, in particular.

“I just had enough this year, I really did,” he said, describing how Connecticut Democrats “got so out of control, almost every bill that came through the General Assembly this year has the term ‘equity’ included in the title. And it’s just a constant part of this narrative.”

As Breitbart News reported last week, even the bill signed by Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont (D) to legalize recreational marijuana use was framed as a measure to combat “racial disparities.”

The measure will place with a Social Equity Council the task of how to regulate the state’s new legal marijuana market so that it becomes a means to address racial inequity.

Andy Dick arrested for assault with a deadly weapon

Troubled comedian Andy Dick was arrested over the weekend for assault with a deadly weapon, the LAPD has confirmed to Page Six.

Elisa Jordana revealed the brutal incident this week on her YouTube show, “Kermit and Friends,” saying that Dick assaulted his lover Lucas with a metal chair. “He could have killed him,” she says.

She suggested that Lucas — whose last name was not immediately available — was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital. “I saw pictures, I saw video; it’s not good,” she said.

The LAPD confirmed to us that Dick, 55, was arrested on June 26.

Jordana went on to describe Dick — who has had numerous issues with substance abuse and run-ins with the law — as being prone to spinning out of control and getting “very aggressive” when drunk.

“It was getting worse and worse and worse,” she says. “Everyday there was some kind of problem. There were signs something was going to happen.”

According to Jordana, Dick was just evicted from his home and moved into a hostel, though she said he was soon kicked out after bringing in a group of 11 people.

Jordana describes another recent incident where Dick told a waitress he wanted to sleep with her using obscene language and took things from the restaurant. “He stole cutlery, he stole a wine glass, he stole plates,” she says. “He asked for a doggie bag so he could put all that in.”

She also says he recently called her to come to another restaurant where he was eating with friends because they didn’t have money to pay the tab.

“There are warning signs with people,” Jordana says. “It doesn’t happen out of the blue. When I heard he was in jail, I wasn’t that surprised,” adding she is glad he’s in prison because he’s safe. “We don’t have to worry that he is going to die today,” she says.

The LAPD tells Page Six Dick’s bail was set at $50,000. According to Jordana, he made bail Tuesday morning. Reps for Dick have not responded to request for comment.

Dick’s list of legal issues is long. In 2019, he was charged with groping a driver from a ride-hailing service. In 2018, he pled not guilty to misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor sexual battery after allegedly groping a woman’s buttocks.

He was fired from an indie movie the year before after being accused of groping cast and crew members. He denied the claims he groped, but admitted, “I might have kissed somebody on the cheek to say goodbye and then licked them,” and admitted he propositioned people for sex.

In 2014, Dick crashed a share house, ran naked through Montauk and unsuccessfully tried to engage in a threesome by allegedly groping a woman’s husband.

He recently launched a podcast called, “ADickted to Love,” where he was planning to talk with doctors, therapists, spiritual leaders, and recovery specialists to help him get on the right path.

Queensland tells under-40s ‘do not get AstraZeneca vaccine’

Queensland authorities have unloaded on Scott Morrison over the vaccine rollout, telling under-40s “do not get the AstraZeneca vaccine”.

Queensland authorities have unloaded on the federal government over the vaccine rollout in comments that are likely to generate further confusion about the troubled AstraZeneca jab.

Speaking at Wednesday’s Covid-19 update one day into a snap three-day lockdown, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk pushed back on Prime Minister Scott Morrison’s Monday night announcement encouraging under-40s to get the AstraZeneca vaccine.

Ms Palaszczuk said the advice from the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI), the Australian Medical Association (AMA) and the state’s chief health officer Jeannette Young had not changed.

“There has been no national cabinet decision about providing AstraZeneca to under-40s,” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“Let me say that again – there’s been no national cabinet decision about providing AstraZeneca to the under-40s.”

The Premier said national cabinet had only agreed one part of the PM’s announcement relating to an indemnity scheme for GPs.

“So that is very clear that national cabinet did not make that decision (about under-40s),” Ms Palaszczuk said.

“I’d like to ask the Prime Minister, did his cabinet make that decision? Now, in Queensland, we always follow the advice of the chief health officer. So I urge Queenslanders to listen to Dr Young, and follow the advice of our chief health officer. Also, we follow the medical advice. And the medical advice is very clear.”

Ms Palaszczuk said the advice remained that under-40s should be offered alternatives to AstraZeneca “due to a link with rare blood clots”.

“So my message to Queenslanders today, is please listen to Dr Young and listen to the health experts when it comes to the vaccine,” she said.

“At the moment, the advice is for people aged 40 to 59 to get Pfizer, and people 60 and over to get AstraZeneca. There has been no national cabinet decision about AstraZeneca being given to under-40s.”

Virginia says local schools should 'eliminate gender-based practices' under new transgender rules

Even events such as "father-daughter dances" may be discontinued under new guidance developed for local school boards by state Department of Education.

Virginia's Department of Education is urging school districts throughout the state to work to end as many sex-segregated activities and programs as possible as part of a recently promulgated set of rules aimed at accommodating transgender students statewide.

The department's Model Policies for the Treatment of Transgender Students in Virginia's Public Schools was developed pursuant to legislation passed last year by the state legislature and signed into law by Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam. That law dictates that the Department of Education is required to "develop and make available" new rules, after which school districts are required to adopt policies that "are consistent with but may be more comprehensive than" the state-level guidance.

The rules were quietly promulgated earlier this year, but generated interest and controversy late this month as some school officials publicized efforts to come in line with the guidance.

The document offers "information, best practices, guidance, procedures, and standards" for school boards developing policies to address their treatment of transgender students. School boards "may adopt example language in the model policies or use it as a guide to draft policies that meet the unique needs of their school division," the guidance reads.

The document advises that "in general, school divisions should make efforts to eliminate gender-based practices to the extent possible."

"Gender-based policies, rules, and practices can have the effect of marginalizing, stigmatizing, and excluding students, regardless of their gender identity or gender expression," it states, citing "practices that may be based on gender" such as "grouping students for class activities, gender-based homecoming or prom courts, limitations on who can attend as 'couples' at school dances, and gender-based events such as father-daughter dances."

The new state rules also appear to require local schools to permit students on overnight school trips to choose lodging accommodations that align with their gender identity rather than their biological sex.

"Students have the right to equitable access to programs, activities, and events that include but are not limited to acknowledgements, dances, assemblies, after-school programs, extracurricular activities, intramurals, non-competitive sports leagues, and field trips," it reads.

"For overnight field trips, the school should not force the student into single-occupancy accommodations that are not required for other students," it states, though it acknowledges that "such alternative accommodations should be made available to any student requesting them."

Stefanik Challenger Was China Daily’s Lawyer

New York Democrat Matthew Putorti represented 'China Daily' in a copyright lawsuit

A New York Democrat challenging Rep. Elise Stefanik (R., N.Y.) represented the state-run propaganda outlet China Daily in a 2019 lawsuit, filings reveal.

Matthew Putorti, who emerged as Stefanik's main competitor after strong fundraising in his campaign's opening days, was the Chinese propaganda outlet's sole representative during litigation over a 2019 copyright complaint filed by an American photographer, according to legal filings obtained by the Washington Free Beacon. Putorti, as an attorney for Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, filed several legal motions on behalf of China Daily beginning in February 2019.

China Daily is one of Beijing’s primary tools for pushing the Chinese Communist Party's agenda overseas. The State Department designated China Daily a propaganda operative of Beijing in February 2020. The outlet spends millions of dollars annually to publish pro-China articles in U.S. publications, according to several years of Foreign Agent Registration Act filings reviewed by the Free Beacon.

Putorti's work on behalf of China Daily came as the Chinese regime ramped up its spending on global propaganda efforts. The outlet is currently being used by China as it wages a campaign to discredit the United States and deflect from its mismanagement of the coronavirus pandemic. In the past year, the New York Times announced it would end its longstanding financial arrangement with China Daily and quietly began deleting content produced by the state-run outlet.

Neither Putorti, Pillsbury LLP, nor China Daily responded to requests for comment.

Putorti's firm does extensive work with the Chinese—the firm has three offices in China and devotes an entire section on its website—a great deal of which is written in Mandarin—to its status as a "first choice" law firm for Chinese executives. The website advertises its attorneys' "cultural sensitivity and experience" working on complex international transactions that benefit Chinese companies.

While Putorti was with the firm, it helped litigate a multimillion-dollar arbitration case on behalf of Trina Solar, a massive Chinese solar company, and Chinese company E-Town Capital's $300 million acquisition of a U.S. semiconductor firm. E-Town Capital, based in Beijing, said in 2020 that it has the official backing of the Chinese Communist Party. The firm's semiconductor subsidiary, the Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation, was blacklisted by the Trump administration for its connections to the Chinese military.

Chinese solar companies like Trina Solar have come under fire for their reliance on slave labor. According to Bloomberg, some 45 percent of solar panel materials worldwide are sourced from the Xinjiang region, where forced labor camps are prevalent. The Biden administration sanctioned a Chinese solar company in June for its connections to forced labor, and former secretary of state John Kerry in May admitted slave labor plagues the larger solar industry.

It is unclear whether Putorti worked on either deal. According to his Pillsbury attorney page, Putorti specializes in international arbitration cases such as the Trina Solar matter.

Ian Easton, a senior director at the Project 2049 Institute, told the Free Beacon that China Daily remains a "mouthpiece" for the Chinese Communist Party and said Americans would be tempted to "boycott" publications that do business with it.
