A reporter asked Biden what he learned about the collapsed condo in his meeting with Governor DeSantis and investigators.

Biden immediately suggested global warming, storms and rising sea levels may have contributed to the collapse.

US & Japan Conduct Rare 'Secret' War Games Simulating China-Taiwan Conflict Response

As we previously highlighted the past months have seen unprecedented levels of rival naval military drills in the Pacific Ocean, for example the month of June alone saw the US IndoPacific Command participating in over 35 war maneuvers with other countries - not to mention an uptick in Russian drills, which provocatively included war games just off Hawaii.

But perhaps the most provocative from China's perspective is set to be the ongoing joint military drills between the United States and Japan, which is said to be specifically geared towards a potential future conflict scenario over Taiwan.

The Financial Times is reporting this week that Washington and Tokyo held "top-secret tabletop war games and joint exercises in the South China and East China seas" - though of course they now appear not-so-secret. The planning of the games reportedly started during the final year of the Trump administration.

Adding further insult to injury toward Beijing is that the games are centered around the hotly contested Senkaku Islands - which both Tokyo and Beijing claim as their own - with Japan long administering the tiny island chain.

What's more is that the covert war games represent Japan becoming increasingly bold in shedding its fears of provoking Beijing, with FT underscoring it's now creating an "integrated war plan for Taiwan"…

The United States has long wanted Japan, an ally of the mutual defense treaty, to carry out more joint military planning, but Japan was constrained by its postwar pacifist constitution. That hurdle was eased, but not removed, when the Abe government in 2015 reinterpreted the constitution to allow Japan to defend allies that came under attack.

When the two allies began to strengthen their joint planning, Japan asked the United States to share its Taiwan war plan, but the Pentagon objected because it wanted to focus on pushing planning between the two countries in phases. A former US official said the ultimate goal was for the two allies to create an integrated war plan for Taiwan.

A major part of what likely helped Japan shift its perspective is the recent uptick in large-scale Chinese PLA flights into Taiwan's Air Defense Identification Zone.

These aerial incursions have been occurring on a near daily basis, and have grown bigger and bigger, including often the presence of nuclear-capable long rage bombers.

Japan is further locked into an escalating dispute with China over the Senkakus. In April, Tokyo passed controversial legislation which actually gives its coast guard broader rules of engagement as it encounters more and more Chinese fishing vessels essentially "squatting" in and around the Senkakus.

Ohio Judge Makes COVID Vaccination Condition Of Probation

An Ohio judge has a new requirement for defendants seeking probation; mandatory COVD-19 vaccination.

Judge Richard Frye of Franklin County said last week that he's included the jab as a condition of release in three cases, after the defendants attributed their unvaccinated status to procrastination - as opposed to any philosophical, medical or religious objections.

"It occurred to me that at least some of these folks need to be encouraged not to procrastinate," Frye told the Columbus Dispatch, adding "I think it’s a reasonable condition when we’re telling people to get employed and be out in the community."

He declined to “speculate” what would happen if a defendant raised a medical, religious or philosophical exemption to vaccination, but said this is a different situation entirely than people who have simply put the matter off.

An example: a man named Cameron Stringer entered a guilty plea for one charge of improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle, for which he was sentenced to two years of probation (“community control,” as it’s known in Ohio).

Stringer must submit to random drug screening; avoid further legal trouble; return a firearm in question to its rightful owner; and obtain a COVID-19 vaccine within 30 days and provide proof to the Probation Department, court documents show. -Columbus Dispatch

It's unknown whether other judges have been imposing similar vaccination requirements, however a spokesman for the state Supreme Court referred the Dispatch to a news report about a judge offering to shorten probation for those who obtain vaccines.

ACLU lobbyist Gary Daniels said the requirement 'At a minimum, appears to be problematic.'

"It doesn’t have any real relationship to community control," he said in a brief interview.

Judge Frye's requirement comes as the rate of vaccinations has stalled out - with states and businesses offering cash incentives and entry into massive jackpots for those who get vaccinated.

According to the report, fewer than 48% of Ohioans have gotten at least one jab.

Vanderbilt U student among dead in Florida building collapse

A 21-year-old Vanderbilt University student is among the dead in last week’s collapse of a beachfront condominium tower in Florida, his family and the school said.

Andreas Giannitsopoulos, an economics major heading into his senior year at the Nashville, Tennessee university, was identified Wednesday night as one of 18 confirmed dead in the collapse of Champlain Towers South.

Giannitsopoulos had been staying with his father’s friend at the Surfside condo when the building collapsed early on June 24.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Andreas’ family, friends, classmates and faculty as they deal with this unimaginable tragedy,” the school said in a statement.

Giannitsopoulos graduated from St. Thomas High School in Houston in 2018 before moving on to Vanderbilt, the Tennessean said.

“He was very dedicated, very focused, very hard-working,” St. Thomas President Father James Murphy told the outlet.

“The last few days, the unknowing has been a challenge,” Murphy said. “We’re a faith-filled community, but we also understand reality. This is a hard thing across the board.”

A GoFundMe page set up by the family said Giannitsopoulos was studying economics at Vanderbilt and said he was regarded “as the ideal St. Thomas man, representing goodness, discipline and knowledge.”

His father’s friend, Manuel LaFont, 54, has also been identified among the dead in the Champlain building collapse.

5 Injured After Building Under Construction Collapses in DC

WASHINGTON—Five workers were injured Thursday when a building under construction collapsed in the nation’s capital, trapping one man for more than an hour as firefighters worked feverishly to free him from layers of debris.

The collapse happened around 3:30 p.m. in the Brightwood Park neighborhood of Washington.

Fire officials said the five-story building was under construction when it fully collapsed, injuring all the workers at the site. Firefighters worked for more than 90 minutes to free one man man from the rubble, using saws and other equipment to cut through wood and other debris that trapped him.

District of Columbia Fire and EMS Chief John Donnelly said four other construction workers were pulled out of the rubble after rescuers arrived at the scene and they were all taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man who was trapped was first found by a search and rescue dog and was stuck under about three floors worth of debris, Donnelly said. He was able to communicate with the firefighters but was trapped in an area with about 8 inches of space around him, the chief said.

Former Trump aides have launched a new social media platform meant to compete with Twitter, but the former president isn't joining it and plans to launch his own platform.

The platform is called GETTR, which is short for "Getting Together," and it's headed by Jason Miller, who worked previously as the spokesman for former President Donald Trump. Former Trump campaign spokesperson Tim Murtaugh is also on board with the social media effort.

Trump supporters have been eagerly awaiting for a new social media platform promised by the former president, but it appears as if this is not it.

Bloomberg News reported that Trump won't be joining GETTR, will have no financial stake in the platform, and has plans to launch his own.

Miller told Fox News that GETTR will be a "cancel-free zone" with "superior technology" that will be the "envy of Silicon Valley."

He went on to say that the platform will defend free speech as a challenge to Big Tech companies who are policing speech, often with a liberal bias.

"We believe there needs to be a new social media platform that really defends free speech, and one that doesn't de-platform for political beliefs," he explained.

He said that the platform will allow users to send up to 777 characters per message, to send pictures and videos, and be able to edit those videos within their app. Miller said that he hoped Trump would join and also wants President Joe Biden to join GETTR.

The platform has been uploaded a thousand times already, but GETTR will officially launch at 10 a.m. ET July 4.

A source on the Trump team told Fox News in March that they were taking their time to get their new social media platform right because they would only get one shot at it.

Trump was banned from Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat following the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

2 More Catholic Churches in Canada Burned as Third Mass Gravesite for Indigenous Kids Found

At least 7 churches have gone up in flames in recent weeks as over 1,000 bodies of children have been discovered near former Indian Residential Schools.

An additional two Catholic churches have been the target of likely arson in Canada as anger continues to grow in the aftermath of the discovery of over 1,000 human remains belonging to Indigenous children.

The news coincides with the discovery of a third site where 182 unmarked graves were located near a discovered near a residential school in British Columbia’s interior.

Early Wednesday morning, firefighters were dispatched to respond to a fire at St. Jean Baptiste Parish in Morinville, Alberta, which was basically gutted by the blaze.

“The fire was already fully involved from the basement when the first fire crews got here,” Morinville’s infrastructure general manager Iain Bushell told CTV News. “They entered the building but there was already collapse occurring on the inside of the church so they backed out and it’s been a defensive or exterior fire fight ever since.”

Police officials have described the blaze as “suspicious.”

Roughly an hour later, a fire was also reported at the Catholic St. Kateri Tekakwitha Church in Sipekne’katik First Nation in Nova Scotia, reports CBC.

At least seven churches, nearly all Catholic, have come under apparent arson attacks throughout Canada in recent weeks. Activists and Indigenous advocates have also defaced Catholic churches with bloody red hand and foot prints, while demonstrations have also been staged involving stuffed animal and the slogan “we were children.”

While it remains unclear what precisely caused the fires, they are believed to be linked to the recent discovery of mass graves and unmarked graves containing over 1,000 human remains near Catholic-run residential schools for First Nations children.

The discovery came just few weeks after the grim discovery of 215 Indigenous children’s bodied by the Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc First Nation in a mass grave at the site of the former Kamloops Indian Residential School in British Colombia.

Also last month, the Cowessess First Nation in Saskatchewan announced its discovery of 751 unmarked graves near the site of the former Marieval Indian Residential School, which operated from 1899 to 1997 in the area.

Another site with 182 unmarked graves was announced Wednesday after an investigation undertaken by the community of ʔaq’am, near Cranbrook, British Columbia.

More Than 10,000 Canadians Died Waiting For Their 'Free' Healthcare

Every lib I know regurgitates the same line: “If free healthcare works for Canada, it will work for us.” But, unfortunately, for more than 10,000 Canadians, it didn’t work fast enough to save their lives. Quebec didn’t even count how many died waiting for healthcare, so they aren’t even a part of the nationwide total. These deaths took place between April 1, 2019, and December 31, 2020. The report, Died On a Waiting List, was released by think tank SecondStreet.org.

“The most unfortunate part about so many patients dying on waiting lists in our health care system is that many of these tragedies could have been prevented,” said Colin Craig, president of SecondStreet.org. “Health reform could save lives and improve the quality of life that patients experience in their final years. Australia, New Zealand, Norway, there are many other countries out there with both universal health care and better outcomes for patients.”

The report shows that 2,367 Canadians died while waiting for surgery in 2020 alone. Another 6,202 died while waiting for diagnostic scans or appointments with specialists. While many were forced to wait because of COVID restrictions, waiting periods for healthcare appointments in Canada are frequently long. The dead patients waited between just under one month to six years, depending on which doctor or healthcare specialist they required. Some died waiting for procedures that were linked to their deaths, for example, cardiac surgery. Others died waiting for treatments that would have improved their lives, such as a cataract procedure.

The 10,000 deaths aren’t the whole picture. For example, some local Canadian governments don’t keep track of patients who die while waiting to see a doctor.

“Governments postponed hundreds of thousands of surgeries, procedures and appointments with specialists during the pandemic,” added Craig. “If we don’t see meaningful health reform, we should expect to see even more patient suffering in the years ahead.”

House Appropriations Committee Votes To Prohibit Funding To Wuhan Institute Of Virology

The House Appropriations Committee voted to include an amendment to prohibit funding to the Wuhan Institute of Virology for the upcoming fiscal year on Thursday.

The amendment was introduced by Republican Rep. Guy Reschenthaler of Pennsylvania for the State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Appropriations Bill. “It is deeply disturbing that American taxpayers footed the bill for over $1 million to support dangerous and potentially deadly research at the Wuhan Insitute of Virology (WIV), a laboratory run by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and tied to military biological research,” Reschenthaler said in a press release Thursday.

“I thank my colleagues for including my amendment to end the flow of federal dollars to the WIV. We must ensure Americans’ hard-earned money never again funds risky experiments in labs operated by our adversaries,” he added.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) P Thangadurai formed teams to nab the two prime suspects of the case- Chief Executive Director GR Sivakumar of the trust and his associate Matharsha - who are on the run.

Following an inquiry initiated by Collector Dr S Aneesh Sekhar into a clip that appeared on social media on Tuesday alleging that one-year-old boy, Manickam, died due to Covid-19 and was subsequently buried at Thatheneri crematorium, the officials found out to that the boy was indeed alive and was given for adoption by the NGO authorities.

Subsequent inquiry revealed that another child, two-year-old girl Dhanam was also missing from the home. The police said the boy’s mother, Ishwarya, was made to believe that her child had succumbed to Covid. “The NGO authorities managed to convince the girl’s mother, Sridevi, that her daughter was taken for treatment. The girl’s mother, a native of Karnataka, is having language issues and the suspects made use of that barrier. The children were rescued on Wednesday night and were handed over to the biological mothers, but the children were more attached with to their foster parents,” they said.

Sources said that the girl child was having skin issues and it was treated during her stay in the foster parents house. “They even conducted an adoption ceremony in their house,” they said. Kannan’s sibling is a friend of Raja and it was this relationship that paved the way for the couple to adopt the child. On the other hand, Selvi is known to Shahubar Sadiq.

The exact amount involved in the illegal trafficking is not clear but the money was allegedly given to the trust under a donation tag. The police during their preliminary inquiry have identified that Sivakumar owned two accounts in a bank - one in the name of Idhayam Trust and another in his name. “He had taken money from the trust account on June 29,” they added.

Law enforcement authorities uncovered that the main perpetrator had posted several advertisements on social media platforms and sold the teen to third parties for a period of three months.

Later,17 other suspects were also taken into custody on several occasions for aiding and abetting crime, including two women.
