Hang on a sec here.

Not a lawfag, but some background.

The bankruptcy filing was for

Eagan Avenatti, LLP

(Limited Liability Partnership)

not for Eagan Avenatti personally.

Now I've heard that the main reason why people form LLCs is precisely to shield their personal assets from lawsuits.

I don't know if this also applies to shielding personal assets from bankruptcy laws.

So equating his lawfirm's bankruptcy with his personal assets may not be a correct line of thinking. I think it needs a bit deeper look before drawing those conclusions. The conclusions would be firmer if questions about the LLC vs. personal assets were answered by a lawfag.
