I can get to 1200' within 10 minutes. Hopefully that will do.
Just a few miles. Not sure how fast I could walk to 500'.
The problem with the Hawaii thing is that this volcano has been erupting for many years now. It was erupting last time I visited there 10 years ago. We actually went out that way to where the lava was still warm on the ground. And the volcano has stopped erupting since then, either. So that spot has been constantly releasing for a while. The dangerous volcanos are the ones that haven't released in a while. Pressure is building up in them. Mt. St. Helens would be a good example. So whether Hawaii is that big of a threat is questionable.
Mt. Shasta, Mammoth Lakes in our state. Mt. St. Helens in Oregon. And Washington has at least one. Ranier, maybe?
If they all went off at once, maybe we'd be screwed. But it's quite possible that Mt. Shasta could erupt, and L.A. would hardly realize it.
Whatever. I'm not changing my vacation plans.
Anyone who thinks nothing is happening hasn't been paying attention.
Yeah, no point pointing out most recent proof.
Is there really much that book could say that someone who's been here since Oct/Nov wouldn't know?
