oh make no mistake, I loved debian and was rocking it most of my linux life. When Ian Murdoch got possibly suicided there was an intense push for systemd that had many devs pooper-peeved. Basically I gave you something I know to be significantly fucky with debian, and that was systemd. I cannot say other distros are uncomped, but AT THE MOMENT there is nothing fucky happening with them. As I said in >>14051674 , you are not forced to run any of them, but to actually setup your own install you would have to compile everything yourself, and that takes time.
