Linux comes in so many flavors it's hard to make blanket statements about it.
Some are shit not ready for prime time.
Others are moar stable and run just fine.
Linux Mint varieties are prolly the sweet spot.
Always have a ton of updates but at least won't crash all the time from my experience.
