notable >>14057082 (pb) XVIII Air: George Washington's General Orders, Jul 2 1776: "The fate of unborn millions will now depend, under God, on the Courage and Conduct of this army - We have therefore to resolve to conquer or die"

Brace yourselves.

"The time is now near at handwhich must probably determine, whether Americans are to be, Freemen, or Slaves; whether they are to have any property they can call their own; whether their Houses, and Farms, are to be pillaged and destroyed, and they consigned to a State of Wretchedness from which no human efforts will probably deliver them. The fate of unborn Millionswill now depend, under God, on the Courage and Conduct of this army —Our cruel and unrelenting Enemy leaves us no choice but a brave resistance, or the most abject submission; this is all we can expect— We have therefore to resolve to conquer or die: Our own Country’s Honor, all call upon us for a vigorous and manly exertion, and if we now shamefully fail, we shall become infamous to the whole world—Let us therefore rely upon the goodness of the Cause, and the aid of the supreme Being, in whose hands Victory is, to animate and encourage us to great and noble Actions—The Eyes of all our Countrymen are now upon us, and we shall have their blessings, and praises, if happilywe are the instruments of saving them from the Tyranny meditated against them.Let us therefore animate and encourage each other, and shew the whole world, that a Freeman contending for Liberty on his own ground is superior to any slavish mercenary on earth."

  1. She started her career as a trading strategist forGoldman Sachs.

Laurene Powell was born on November 6, 1963 in West Milford, New Jersey. When she was three years old, her father —a pilot— died in a plane collision, and her mother later remarried, according to Business Insider. Powell Jobs double majored in economics and political science at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating in 1985, she spent three years working on Wall Street as a fixed-income trading strategist for Goldman Sachs, according to The New York Times. She also worked for Merrill Lynch Asset Management. Powell Jobs later went on to receive her MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 1991.

Powell Jobs also owns the publicationsAxios and The Atlantic, the latter of which sparked controversy in September 2020 after an article by Jeffrey Goldberg drew the ire of President Donald Trump.

However, Powell Jobs is no stranger to the political arena. In 2016, she reportedly donated $2 million toHillary Clinton's campaign and helped the then-candidate raise another $4 million (per CNN).During the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries, Powell Jobs donated to multiple candidates, includingAmy Klobuchar, Kamala Harris, and Pete Buttigieg, and donated $500,000 to Joe Bidenafter he secured the Democratic nomination (via The New York Times). Alhough Powell Jobs stays out of the spotlight more than her late husband, her status as one of the wealthiest people in the world ensures that she's someone people will hear about for a long time.

Why Is Laurene Powell Jobs Funding Fake News?

Liberal billionaire's Emerson Collective claims to fund 'super high-quality journalism,' but backs astroturfed news sites

Charles Fain Lehman • June 11, 2020 4:00 pm

Powell Jobs's attention, however, appears focused more on sending Joe Biden to the White House.Multiple reports have indicated the billionaire has funneled money into liberal media operation ACRONYM, which in turn operates Courier Newsroom, an umbrella over seven different sites that pose as local news outlets while distributing what one critic called "hyperlocal partisan propaganda."

This mismatch between Powell Jobs's public image and political spending raises questions about how seriously the self-professed friend to independent media takes those commitments, especially when they might conflict with her political goals. Neither a representative for ACRONYM nor for Emerson Collective responded to multiple requests for comment for this article.

Powell Jobs has more than once been listed as a major backer of ACRONYM. A March New York Times story described her as such, as did a May story from Vox.

There is also some evidence of a connection betweenPowell Jobs and ACRONYM CEO Tara McGowan:Emerson Collective gave $2 million to Priorities USA Action during the 2016 cycle, when McGowan worked as the PAC's digital director. McGowan has also tweeted appreciatively at Powell Jobs.

The exact relationship between Powell Jobs, Emerson, and ACRONYM, however, remains murky. That's thanks in large part to Emerson's status as an LLC, which unlike a more traditional 501(c) designation, protects the organization from having to make public finance disclosures. Courier is similarly structured.

It is clear, however, that both ACRONYM and Courier are doing well. Since February, Courier's stable of sites has grown from three to seven. One of these, North Carolina-based Cardinal & Pine, spent over $20,000 on digital advertising in March alone, according to a Center for Responsive Politics investigation. ACRONYM reported more than $9 million in receipts in FY 2018, according to documents obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Many of the news sites funded by Emerson Collective, meanwhile, are struggling amid a massive economic downturn. The Atlantic, in which Emerson owns a controlling stake, laid off17percent of its staff. Group Nine Media, which owns the Emerson-backed NowThis, dropped 7 percent of its workforce.

The ‘New Soros’: Marlow Media Exposé Reveals Immense Secret Power of Tech Heiress Laurene Powell Jobs

19 May 2021

If there’s a well-known persona comparable to Laurene Powell Jobs, it’s Hungarian billionaire George Soros. Soros is branded a “philanthropist,” but he also functions as a one-man piggy bank for the globalist far-left. Much like Soros’ Open Society Foundations, the main vehicle for Jobs’ influence is Emerson Collective (EC), the philanthropic outfit she founded and leads. The Emerson Collective, according to Forbes, is “a hybrid philanthropic and investing limited liability company.” That’s a pretty murky description, which appears to allow them to engage in business and charity without ever being terribly explicit about which is which. I’m not sure which of the two categories it falls under, but EC also happens to own the Atlantic.

Inside Philanthropy named Jobs 2019’s “Least Transparent Mega-giver.”

EC functions primarily as a private business owned by Jobs’s personal trust. This shields it from IRS disclosure rules and allows it to more freely engage in political activity.

It’s sly and devious, but considering how many media outlets are aligned with Jobs either financially or ideologically, it’s no surprise that little reporting has been done on these connections.

After all, if you’re in media, she might be your boss one day. Maybe she already is.

The Atlantic published what is perhaps the single fakest fake news story of the 2020 election. On September 3, 2020, editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg posted an article with the bombshell headline “Trump: Americans Who Died in War Are ‘Losers’ and ‘Suckers.’” The piece alleged that Donald Trump, while in France to commemorate American Marines who died in World War II, denigrated American soldiers who died in combat.

Comment: The ‘Jewish’ side of Steve Jobs

He’s been called every name in the book, from messiah to charlatan – but I’ll bet nobody has ever called him Jewish.

By DAVID SHAMAH OCTOBER 7, 2011

He’s been called every name in the book, from messiah to charlatan – but I’ll bet nobody has ever called him Jewish.

Not that Steve Jobs was a member of the tribe; his biological father is actually a Syrian Muslim, his adoptive parents Armenians, and his mother a German-Swiss Catholic.

But for years, I’ve had the funny feeling that even if he wasn’t Jewish, Jobs’ life and career have had some very distinct parallels to the Jewish experience…

My first “Jewish moment” with Jobs’ legacy was when I started using Mac computers – way back in the ’80s. At the time, we Mac users always felt a bit deprived, because it seemed that nearly all the good, cheap or free software was being written for Windows machines. And of course, Mac users couldn’t use any of that free and cheap stuff, because it just wasn’t compatible with the Mac’s operating system. And what software was available was, of course, more expensive than its Windows counterpart.

Sort of like keeping kosher! But the expense of our “religion” did not deter us hardy Mac fans from sticking with our chosen OS. It just seemed to make more sense – and we were convinced that one day the world would proclaim that we had been right all along. There are just as many “true believers” today – and if you were to say that the whole things sounds a bit like a messianic fantasy, you wouldn’t be the only one.

Although a less heralded aspect of Jobs’ career, his deal with Disney, to a large extent, reinvented kids’ movies. It’s another echo of the Jewish immigrant story – where Jews forced into exile, yet again, make good in the new “goldeneh medineh,” the “golden land,” creating something that wasn’t there before.

Even the way Jobs died reminds us of a Jewish lesson. You could be the smartest, richest, most creative person in the world – but it’s God that decides when your time is up, and no amount of intelligence, wealth or creativity can buy you even one more minute. It’s a most appropriate lesson for Yom Kippur, and while the death of such a relatively young genius would be sad at any time, it carries an added layer of meaning during the High Holy Days period.

There are other striking resemblances to the Jewish experience in Jobs’ life and times, but I think you get the idea. And while those of us who go to synagogue on Yom Kippur will be concerned with our own needs, worries and prayers, it would be most appropriate to spare a thought for the memory of Steve Jobs, a man who, if not Jewish, at least taught some lessons we Jews can relate to.

Laurene Jobs’ $60 million compound gets torched (and other Malibu fire updates)

By James McClain December 4, 2018 4:36 am PT

The fire impacted Thousand Oaks and Calabasas, among other neighboring cities. But it was particularly devastating to the seaside community of Malibu, where up to 450 homes were leveled and the landscape — particularly in the once-scenic mountains and canyons — has been radically altered. Y’all already know about the celebrity homes destroyed, including Liam Hemsworth’s Ramirez Canyon estate, Gerard Butler’s Point Dume compound, Neil Young’s ranch, and Camille Grammer’s Ramirez Mesa pad.

Themost valuable Malibu property affected by the fire, however, was unquestionablythe under-construction compound of Laurene Powell, the philanthropic widow of Steve Jobs. Our Ms. Powell paid more than $60 million for the Paradise Cove property in two separate transactions — the first in 2014 — and has since spent millions more to upgrade and renovate every inch of the multi-acre estate.
