China’s Pressure Campaign Against Western Politicians

'Premiered 13 hours ago

Join Hudson Institute Senior Fellow Nury Turkel and journalist Emma Murphy for a moderated discussion with Nusrat Ghani and Sir Iain Duncan Smith, two British MPs at the forefront of the fight to expose the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s genocidal campaign against the Uyghur people, who have been targeted with “sanctions” by the Chinese government.

On March 22, the U.S., Canada, the EU, and Great Britain announced the implementation of joint sanctions against two Chinese officials responsible for orchestrating the genocide of the Uyghurs. Additionally, China has sanctioned politicians in many of the countries involved in putting together these coordinated sanctions, including American, British, Canadian, French, EU, and German lawmakers who have worked to hold China accountable for its human rights abuses. These retaliatory actions are proof that the U.S. and its allies are beginning to create cause for concern among the Chinese central government, who feel the need to punish officials for daring to challenge their ability to torture its citizens or “meddling in their internal affairs.” How can Western politicians keep the pressure up on the Chinese government to halt its systematic persecution of Chinese Muslims?
