On July 19, the 48th of now 53 churches to be burned or vandalized in Canada in just under a month was destroyed by fire, leaving its Christian community devastated.

The RCMP have officially labelled the burning of St. George Coptic Orthodox Church in Surrey, B.C. as suspicious. But given the recent spree of church burnings across the country, and the fact that there was already an attempted arson that occurred at this church just days before the fatal fire, this is likely to be another hate-motivated, act of terror directed against Christians in Canada.

On June 21, National Indigenous Peoples Day, and just two weeks after the first press release on the re-locating of an unmarked gravesite near Kamloops Indian Residential School, two churches in B.C. were suspiciously destroyed by fire on First Nations land.

Since then, 53 Christian places of worship have been destroyed or damaged in less than a month. B.C. has the highest number of churches to be burned with no sign of stopping, making the religious persecution of Christians in Canada a disgraceful reality in 2021.

But for the Christians, referred to as “Copts,” who attended St. George Coptic Orthodox Church, persevering in faith while being persecuted is nothing new.

Much of the church’s community consists of Copts, indigenous to Egypt, whose families fled to safety elsewhere after suffering great oppression and persecution during centuries of Islamic rule.

St. George Coptic Orthodox Church’s priests and board members released a statement describing their congregation as one that “brought together a diverse congregation of Coptic, Eritrean, Ethiopian, Iraqi, and Lebanese Orthodox believers,” and as a “haven where we practiced our ancient holy rites that have been preserved over centuries from our forefathers who keep the faith, defying great odds.”

In this report, I take you on the scene at the day the church was destroyed. You’ll hear some of the congregants’ initial reactions to what had just happened to their place of worship.

No studies were needed to justify this practice since most understood viruses were far too small to be stopped by the wearing of most masks, other than sophisticated ones designed for that task and which were too costly and complicated for the general public to properly wear and keep changing or cleaning. It was also understood that long mask wearing was unhealthy for wearers for common sense and basic science reasons.

How Canada’s most populous city is fighting food insecurity and climate change at the same time

“Everything is very local here. We don’t go anywhere. We grow the food here, we compost food here and we sell the food here,” said Orlando López Gómez, the fast-talking and energetic co-ordinator at FoodShare Toronto who manages the farm.

When it’s operating, residents bring organic waste and receive tickets they can use to buy food at the local market. The waste becomes soil to grow food, creating a “closed loop” system where soil becomes food that becomes soil again. A bucket of food waste earns a resident $3, while a bunch of carrots sells for $1.

López Gómez has experience with agriculture in much more challenging conditions. Before emigrating to Canada in 2011, he worked in water conservation and forestry for the Nicaraguan government and with a local non-profit. Nicaragua has seen worsening droughts and unpredictable rainfall as the result of climate change, so he often travelled to rural agricultural areas to advise farmers on planting trees and reducing the use of pesticides.

He arrived in Canada without knowing any English, but quickly learned and applied his experience in Toronto. “I miss the names of all of the tropical trees in Nicaragua. You cannot find them here in Canada, so I need to adapt to everything here and start to study all of the new trees in Canada,” he said.

He found a wealthier country, but one with pockets of dire food insecurity. Black Canadians, for example, are three and a half times more likely to experience food insecurity than white Canadians. “It’s scary that in a rich city like Toronto that we have those situations, especially right now with COVID-19.”

A report prepared for legislators and business leaders by the American Trucking Associations highlights just how critical our just-in-time inventory and delivery systems are, and assesses the impact on the general population in the event of an emergency or incident of national significance that disrupts the truck transportation systems which are responsible for carrying some ten billion tons of commodities and supplies across the United States each year.

A shut down of truck operations as a result of elevated threat levels, terrorist attacks, or pandemics would, according to the report, have “a swift and devastating impact on the food, healthcare, transportation, waste removal, retail, manufacturing, and financial sectors.”

So too would events such as an this is all about fighting a virus, that could shut down global positioning systems and the computers responsible for inventory control. Another potential scenario that is more likely now than ever before is liquidity problems within the financial system stemming from currency crisis or hyperinflation. All of our just-in-time delivery systems are built upon the unhindered transfer of money and credit, but when credit flow becomes restricted or money becomes worthless, no one will be able to pay for their goods. Likewise, no one will trust the credit worthiness of anyone else. This is exactly the scenario playing out in Europe right now and the consequences on the health care industry in that country have left many without life saving drugs. When there’s no money, no one will be transporting anything.

The effects of a transportation shutdown for any reason would be immediate (in some cases, within hours) and absolutely catastrophic.

Private COVID testing, vaccines for CBC staff? Emails reveal plans to skip wait times

CBC's front-facing position, presented to their long-suffering viewers, on private healthcare is that it is a sloppy, improperly regulated danger to public health where the privileged can pay their way to the front of the queue.

Story after story during the never-ending coronavirus news cycle sowed mistrust in private COIVD testing and private vaccine delivery.

But what do the people in charge at the bloated state broadcaster really think about private healthcare delivery behind closed doors?

They love it!

And the proof of it is in a new series of access to information documents, obtained exclusively by Rebel News, about the CBC's COVID testing and vaccination strategy for its television production teams.

In an August 2020 email, a middle manager at the CBC was looking for private COVID testing and vaccinations options from a company called MCI Medical.

We need to set up a private testing option for our film crews that are starting to travel again outside of Canada but must have a negative COVID test within a certain time frame before being able to travel.

Private vaccination options were also sought from the same company.

Do you have a document with all your locations in it across Canada? It may be easier to link to that instead of just showing the Toronto locations? I don't want it to look like you only have locations in Toronto. I can use the same document then for the vaccines process?

Another email indicates CBC was trying to use the private testing clinics to jump the public healthcare queue, explicitly inquiring about a private option:

I was under the impression that you cannot get tested privately and they need to use the Canada Health testing facilities and wait the required number of days. Can you confirm this is correct or if there is an alternative “private” option that we should consider?

Further emails detail CBC asking their travel agents to pre-book stays in COVID jails so that CBC staff didn't have to experience the booking wait times on the phone that regular Canadians do when returning from abroad.

In addition to the questions around support for testing/finding clinics, is there a way for our existing travel provider to assist with booking the government approved hotel rooms as opposed to having our staff wait on hold for many hours?

Other communication show CBC's company policy required employees to inform their managers if they were ever tested for COVID, for work or otherwise. CBC also inquired about vaccine queue jumping by having employees of the Mother Corp declared essential workers, like police, frontline healthcare workers and firefighters.

Will CBC/Radio-Canada employees have priority access to the vaccine (essential services designation)?

Lastly, another email made it clear that all the queue jumping, private healthcare options and essential services designations were not going to result in an easing of COVID regulations in CBC's workplaces.

Once the vaccine is widely available, will we remove existing Health and Safety measures within our workplaces and in the field? No.

The Moonshine Cafe reverses decision to only allow double jabbed people dine in their restaurant

Earlier this month, The Moonshine Café in Oakville, Ontario, received a lot of publicity for all the wrong reasons.

You see, the owners, John and Jane Marlatt, announced on their social media channels that if you want to get served at their establishment, you must be double-jabbed. Well, cue the outrage. And for good reason. After all, what about reasonable accommodation considerations for those who are not medically able to receive the vaccination? Or for children?

The cafe’s owners were soon bombarded by those who were mightily perturbed that a private business would be applying its own makeshift vaccine passport. After all, isn’t medical information personal and confidential? I mean, you wouldn’t ask a patron making a dinner reservation if he or she had a history of sexually transmitted diseases. And by the way, whatever happened to that chestnut the progressives have long held sacred when it comes to abortion — you know: “My body, my choice”?

I reached out to John Marlatt last Friday to discuss. And John strikes me as a really good guy who, in his heart of hearts, truly believed he was doing the right thing. Indeed, he told me he ran the mandatory vax idea past his regular customers before announcing it, and it received unanimous approval from them.

Alas, that was not the case when it came to the population at large. John says he was deluged with nasty phone calls decrying the decision. And when word got out that a protest of his café was scheduled for last Saturday, John quickly revamped the policy and announced it on social media. And so it is that the mandatory vaccination rule is now deader than disco. Needless to say, the protest was cancelled, the vax-choice demonstrators winning this particular battle without having to fire a single shot.

For what it’s worth, I think this is a win-win. After all, we should not have two classes of citizens — those who choose to receive an experimental vaccine and those who do not. And John now has a larger customer base, given the lack of restrictions.

But behind the scenes, I think our elected leaders want private businesses like The Moonshine Cafe to establish and police mandatory vaccine policies. Oh sure, the premiers and the prime minister have dismissed the idea of mandatory vaccination passports. But I think that’s because they are counting on the private sector to implement this policy on their own, since our fearful leaders don’t want to take the heat.

Case in point: a few days ago, GoodLife Fitness tweeted out the following: “Hey there! At this time, we are not planning to require Associates or Members to be vaccinated to enter our locations.” Well, good for GoodLife, I say.

Yet, check out this social media response from none other than Gerald Butts, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s best boyfriend and puppet-master supreme. Butts said the following:

GoodLife is going to regret this.

What the hell is that, Gerry — a threat? A threat to a company that is not breaking any law, but rather, doing the right thing from a moral and ethical perspective? Give me a break!

Bottom line: businesses respecting those persons who do not get the vaccination is indeed the way to go. And next time I’m in Oakville, I plan to swing by The Moonshine Cafe and grab a bite. I’m happy to know that I am now a welcome patron even though I am 100 per cent unvaccinated. And I want to support this cafe for, well, doing the right thing.

CDC is providing this advance notice for clinical laboratories to have adequate time to select and implement one of the many FDA-authorized alternatives.

“I never had a green thumb,” said Aminah Haghighi. “I could barely keep houseplants alive.” Haghighi is the founder and head lettuce of Raining Gold Family Growers, established in January 2021 and based in Hillier, Prince Edward County. She is currently farming a quarter of an acre and has a direct-to-consumer sales approach. Starting in January, Haghighi had to be quick on her feet to determine what she could sell at that time.

“I came up with the idea of selling microgreens as that is something you can grow indoors under lights on shelves,” she said. Her efforts paid off. She had a total of 80 CSA (community-supported agriculture) subscribers and raised just under $10,000 in revenue. “That was the first time I felt connected with the community, because they wanted to see me succeed,” she says.

Ultimately, what led her to become a farmer is her keen ability to solve problems and to do it as quickly as possible.

Oh, and the pandemic also played a major role.

“A few weeks before the first lockdown in Ontario, my second daughter was born,” she explained. “Everything was slowly coming to a halt all over the world, and I didn’t really know what grocery stores would look like and we all thought the world was basically ending.” That’s when Haghighi decided to rip up the grass in her Toronto home and start growing in her small backyard garden.

Providing food security for her family during the whirlwind that was the first few months of the pandemic, and having something of her own, was why she started gardening. “As a mom who had no control over my body or control over my time, this was sort of a way to regain control in my life.”

Front and centre to this debate in Canada is Linda Blade, the president of Athletics Alberta and co-author of a new book published by Rebel News, Unsporting: How Trans Activism and Science Denial are Destroying Sport.

With the first transgender athlete, a biological male who identifies as female, set to compete in the women's weightlifting competition at the Games, the discussion on trans athletes has never been more relevant.

Telling Sheila how sports is not about beliefs, but rather a competition between biological equals:

It may be true that somebody really, honestly fervently believes that they have grown up with a male body and all the advantages and really, secretly inside they are female. If they believe that, that's fine. But we compete with our bodies, we don't compete with our identities.

So, it's really not even my business Sheila, like it's not our business what somebody believes about themselves. We don't classify sport on the basis of belief. Otherwise, we would say, OK, if you're this religion you compete in that category, another religion or if you actually have a political party, you go over there and this other political party, you race over here.

We do not compete on the basis of our ideologies.
