GoodLife Fitness says it will not require staff or members to be vaccinated

As debates wage in Canadian provinces about vaccine passports, Canada’s largest gym chain says it will not require its staff or members to be vaccinated.

The London, Ont.-based fitness centre was trending on Twitter Wednesday as people shared a response the company provided to a query.

“At this time, we are not planning to require Associates or Members to be vaccinated to enter our locations,” the company said. “For privacy reasons, GoodLife will not disclose information regarding any individual Associate’s vaccination status.”

GoodLife’s Ontario locations will be reopening Friday as the province enters stage 3 of its reopening plan. Locations in other provinces have reopened when local regulations have permitted.

GoodLife said in a follow-up statement it will “continue to follow all requirements and guidelines set out for fitness facilities by government, public health, and other legal authorities.”

Replies to GoodLife’s tweet were overwhelmingly negative, with numerous users claiming they intend to cancel their GoodLife memberships.

The company was lauded by some Twitter users for intending to protect member and staff medical privacy.

While COVID-19 vaccines are strongly encouraged by federal and provincial health officials, no government has made them mandatory. It is not yet clear whether mandatory vaccine policies by private businesses and institutions would even be legal, one civil liberties lawyer says.

Businesses can make decisions about what customers they want to serve, and in general this is a good thing. But turning away customers is still subject to Human Rights legislation,” Canadian Constitution Foundation litigation director Christine Van Geyn told True North. “That legislation prohibits discrimination on protected grounds, like disability, and I think there is a pretty compelling case that it would be discriminatory to turn away a person who cannot be vaccinated for something like a medical reason.”

Van Geyn said this sort of exemption can be difficult to enforce in practice, however.

“You can see the issue with masks, where medical exemptions are granted in the government mandate, but in practice many stores simply turn away unmasked customers,” she said. This happens even if the customer has a valid claim for a medical exemption from masking.

Discover Fitness, a gym in Timmins, Ont., said it would require anyone entering its facility, including staff and customers, to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless exempt based on medical or human rights grounds.

Ontario’s Seneca College also instituted a mandatory vaccination policy for any students wishing to take in-person classes in the fall term.

Canada added just 345 COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths nationwide on Tuesday.

Trudeau might face another ethics probe over MP contracts to childhood friend

Canada’s ethics commissioner has asked Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to explain his role in contracts between a majority of Liberal MPs and a company owned by Trudeau’s childhood friend.

Commissioner Mario Dion said the criteria for questioning Trudeau have been met after receiving a complaint from Conservative member of parliament Michael Barrett, who requested a formal ethics probe into payments made to Data Sciences, a firm run by Trudeau’s longtime friend and the Liberal party’s former digital operations director.

The controversy stems from the revelation from a Globe and Mail report that 97% of Liberal members of parliament use money from their government-funded office budgets to pay a company called Data Sciences, owned by Tom Pitfield.

Pitfield was in Trudeau’s wedding party in 2015 and also vacationed with the Trudeau family on the Aga Khan’s Bahamas island, a trip which itself was the subject of a report and finding of wrongdoing by the ethics commissioner.

Trudeau has said that services from Data Sciences aid members of parliament in their constituency work and are not used for political purposes. However, at least two members of parliament, Wayne Easter and John McKay, have said they were not aware what services Data Sciences was providing their offices.

“I vaguely recall once a year we write a cheque and it’s always been explained that it is within the ethical guidelines so we all kind of sign up for it and it goes into some oblivion,” McKay told the Globe and Mail of his office’s use of Data Sciences.

Trudeau also uses the company’s services in his own office as the member of parliament for Papineau.

The ethics code governing members of parliament prohibits MPs from acting “to improperly further another person’s or entity’s private interests.”

On Monday, the House of Commons ethics committee attempted to call Pitfield as a witness, but were blocked from doing so by the committee’s Liberal members.

Trudeau will have 30 days to respond to Dion’s letter, at which point Dion will decide whether there are grounds to launch a formal inquiry.

On June 5, Rebel News published a report highlighting a troubling policy at The Mustard Seed in Calgary, which prevented staff from performing lifesaving CPR on guests of the facility due to fears surrounding the potential transmission of COVID.

For those unfamiliar with The Mustard Seed, it is a homeless shelter and support network that seeks to provide care and a safe space for those experiencing hardship. The concerns were brought forward by whistleblower Katie DeWitt, who felt it was her responsibility to draw attention to this troubling policy.

Katie was fired by The Mustard Seed for going public with her story. We caught up with her for an update.

We also reached out to The Mustard Seed, and I spoke on the phone with CEO Steve Wile about the CPR policy and Katie’s termination.

Steve insists that a policy change was already underway and that he regrets Katie’s termination, but that there were protocols in place for her concerns to be addressed which were not observed. Steve also reluctantly admitted that perhaps the change in policy did not come as quickly as some would have liked.

Despite insistence from The Mustard Seed that our video and Katie’s testimony did not expedite a shift in their CPR policy, we suspect that it very likely played a role.

Our initial report was released on June 5, Katie lost her job on June 17, and by June 23, The Mustard Seed had changed their policy.

Premier Ford continues to hold unprecedented power over almost 15 million people

TORONTO, Ontario, July 15, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) — The government of Ontario revoked the Declaration of Emergency last month, but its leader still has enormous power unprecedented before the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Reopening Ontario (A Flexible Response to COVID-19) Act (ROA) passed into law on July 21, 2020 for one year. It gave Ontario Premier Doug Ford total legislative authority without having to declare a state of emergency. Under the ROA, Ford can act unilaterally for up to a year to impose coronavirus restrictions and measures without the need of a legislature, votes, or a debate.

“The ROA and the actions of our Premier are both repugnant and reprehensible,” Randy Hillier, the Independent MPP of Lanark — Frontenac — Kingston, told LifeSiteNews.

“They are contrary to good government, to representative government, and they are absolutely unwarranted,” he added.

“They are being used only to instil fear to our society and to encourage our society to accept totalitarian rule.”

Hillier explained that the original Declaration of Emergency was implemented on March 17, 2021 in Ontario. It gave all legislative authority to the Premier. When the Emergency Order expired, the ROA was implemented and was supposed to be in force until July 2021. In March of 2021, Ford re-issued a state of emergency, which he needed in order to shut down the provincial borders, to ensure the police had the authority stop people and demand where they were traveling, and to issue a Stay-at-Home order.

“These three measures were not included in Bill 195, the Reopening Ontario Act. So lawfully, he had to declare a new state of emergency,” Hillier explained.

The emergency ended in June 2021, which meant these three measures expired, but Ford’s authority to keep the province locked down remained.

Hillier told LifeSiteNews that the ROA was meant to be in place for only one year and to end in July 2021. On May 31, 2021, the Ford government voted to extend the ROA till December 2021 even though the coronavirus case rate in Ontario has decreased to 0.001% (as of July 12).

When asked if the government could legally keep extending the ROA indefinitely, Hillier said yes, adding, “I disagree with it. I think it is reprehensible, but unfortunately they can.”

The ROA orders the reopening of Ontario into three stages determined by the percentage of the population that has been vaccinated. The Government of Ontario website explains that “Ontario will remain in Step Three until 80 per cent of the eligible population aged 12 and over has received one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and 75 per cent have received their second, with no public health unit having less than 70 per cent of their population fully vaccinated.”

Step Three, the most unrestricted stage of the ROA, insists on social distancing and masking, restricts indoor gatherings to 25 people and outdoor gatherings to 100 people, and continues to limit the number of people at religious services, retail outlets, and public events.

As of July 13, 2021, 68.78% of the eligible adults in Ontario have received the first jab and 48.17% have received the second dose. Continue…

Health authorities scapegoated a Mennonite community — help us find out why

An Ontario health authority that closed Old Order Mennonite churches and schools now demands big money from Rebel News in exchange for documents relating to the decision to target the largely closed faith community as a bunch of dangerous COVID superspreaders.

The story of the government attack on the Old Order Mennonites of Mount Forest, Ontario and the surrounding area began in November 2020, when the medical officer of health for the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph region, Nicola Mercer, ordered churches and schools closed as COVID-19 hit.

“I am saddened by the need for this extraordinary step,” said Dr. Mercer at the time, “I do not take the issuing of Section 22 Orders lightly, but COVID-19 poses a serious health risk to the Old Order Mennonite Community and to all of us in the region. Sometimes we need to make difficult decisions to prevent the unchecked spread of this virus.”

Outbreaks of COVID were claiming the elderly in government operated or regulated nursing homes, and Costcos and Walmarts were wide open to the public. Yet Mercer closed the churches and schools of a community that self-segregates from the world at large as a way of life.

At the time, Rebel News sent Keean Bexte to get the full story as best he could from a religious community that avoids confrontation at almost all costs and is not used to being in the public eye. Bexte was able to speak to a Mennonite teacher about the impact that closing churches and schools has on a religious community that considers joint worship to be an essential part of everyday life.

But we knew there was more to the story. We wanted to know why and how this community of pacifist Christians became a scapegoat for government failures.

We filed an access to information request with the Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph health authority, asking for "copies of all documents including e-mails, texts or instant messages/ WhatsApp messages/ slack messages, memos, briefing notes, etc., regarding the issuing of public health orders to Old Order Mennonite communities, since November 1, 2020."

We did not receive the information the health authority is legally obliged to give us in a timely fashion. Instead, we got a paywall.

The health authority sent us a bill: $3,402 for 2,835 pages of digital documents.

The government must really be obsessed with those Mennonites to have that many documents about them.

Kenney calls on Trudeau to honour Alberta senate elections if he “respects democracy”

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau would do well to appoint the winners of this fall’s Alberta senate elections if he supports democracy.

When Albertans go to the polls in October for their municipal elections, they will also be voting for senate candidates and on a referendum to renegotiate interprovincial equalization payments.

While senators are appointed on the prime minister’s recommendation, Kenney said there’s an established “convention” to appoint senators chosen by Albertans in a democratic process.

With no legal mechanism to force the appointment of the successful candidates, Kenney said it comes down to whether Trudeau supports the democratic process.

“Does this federal government respect democracy or does it not respect democracy?” he said. “These are powerful democratic statements that Albertans will be making on October 18th. Previous prime ministers have used their discretion to appoint individuals elected by Albertans to Canada’s senate. In fact I would argue it has become a convention, a tradition of sorts. I urge the prime minister to respect that democratic tradition.”

Four senators were appointed on former prime minister Stephen Harper’s recommendation after winning senate nominee elections, including sitting senators Doug Black and Scott Tannas. Brian Mulroney also appointed the winner of Alberta’s first senate election in 1990.

Trudeau has made no commitment to respect the results of the October senate vote, but Kenney says he was “encouraged” when Trudeau told him in a meeting last week the winners of Alberta’s senate elections should apply as senators through the government’s supposedly independent selection process.

“If they go through that process and they also happen to prevail in your provincial election, maybe that’s something that we could consider,” Kenney recounted Trudeau as saying.

“I was encouraged to hear the prime minister open the door, at least a little bit,” Kenney added.

While Kenney recognizes the government is not compelled to respect the senate election, he says that is not the case with the equalization referendum, pointing to a 1998 Supreme Court reference on Quebec’s separation referendum finding the federal government must negotiate in good faith if a provincial referendum delivers a mandate on a clear question.

“This is a federation, and if that’s the law as determined by the Supreme Court applies to Quebec, then it has to apply to Alberta,” Kenney said.

Number of unmarked burial sites at Kamloops residential school “currently unknown,” now thought to be 200

The Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation held a press conference Thursday morning in Kamloops, BC to present the findings of the ground-penetrating radar report they commissioned.

In late May, the Tk’emlúps band announced that ground-penetrating radar (GPR) detected the remains of 215 children who were all students of the Kamloops Indian Residential School, the largest school in the Indian Affairs residential school system.

Dr. Sarah Beaulieu of the University of the Fraser Valley, in her overview of the Kamloops GPR research, stated that the total number of unmarked graves at the Kamloops Indian Residential School landscape is “currently unknown,” but that 200 sites remain as targets of interest.

This means that the previously publicized figure of 215 bodies, a number which went viral and has been used in activism campaigns across the country, wasn’t accurate. That number has now decreased to 200.

However, Beaulieu noted only forensic investigation – excavation – can confirm the existence of the graves. No excavations have occurred thus far and there are no current plans to excavate in the near future.

Tk’emlúps chief Rosanne Casimir claimed that some of the bodies detected were “as young as three years old,” though it has been pointed out that GPR cannot confirm any details about the bodies or how the individuals died. Rather, GPR detects irregularities and disturbances in the earth, which can point to a potential burial site.

Casimir has made it clear in past remarks that “this is not a mass grave, but rather unmarked burial sites that are, to our knowledge, also undocumented.”

According to the Canadian Archaeological Association, “it is not possible to identify grave locations or the absence of graves with 100% certainty using remote sensing” and that the archaeologist will likely “assign different levels of confidence to their results in much the same way as a weather forecaster predicts the likelihood of rain.”

Beaulieu has not assigned a level of confidence to her report.

The land surveyed on the residential school grounds was chosen because in the late 2000s a tourist allegedly came across a juvenile rib bone in the soil, and around the same time Simon Fraser University’s archaeology department excavated a child’s tooth. Beaulieu noted that “a juvenile tooth is not an indicator of loss of life, but given both discoveries, this possibility should not be discounted.”

Chief Casimir called on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to release the Kamloops Indian Residential School attendance records – documents that are within custody of the Canadian government.

“To the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau… I look forward to a fulsome conversation where we can finalize the details of the federal government providing needed supports, as well as access to our student attendance records, to continue to shed light on missing children buried in our care.”

TORONTO, Canada, July 15, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – A Toronto person who appears to almost certainly be a man has been charged with sexually assaulting a six-year-old boy, yet the mainstream media are describing the assaulter as a female, as he claims to be a woman called “Ruby.”

Toronto Police Service (TPS) issued a press release July 13, announcing that they are conducting a sexual assault investigation following an arrest. On June 8, the police had arrested and charged 33-year-old man, “Ruby” Ebby, with two offenses: “1. Sexual Interference with a Person Under the age of 16. 2. Sexual Assault.”

Ebby was arrested after a six-year-old boy was assaulted in Walter Saunders Park, on May 20. The Toronto police now believe that there may be additional victims and Ebby will appear in court on July 21.

However, both the police and the mainstream media describe Ebby as female, despite Ebby being clearly male. The TPS press release refers to Ebby as “she.”

Toronto’s CTV News does likewise, titling their report “Woman charged after allegedly sexually assaulting 6-year-old boy in Toronto park.” The text of the article continues to refer to Ebby as “woman,” and “she.”

The Toronto Sun follows suit, although the Toronto Star managed to report the incident without referring to Ebby as either male or female.

The picture provided to all media outlets by the TPS shows a person who appears to be a white male with close cut facial hair.

The pandering of the police and media to Ebby’s identifying as female is not without precedent. One similar incident in 2014 was of a British man detained while attempting to enter Canada illegally, and was subsequently sent to a female prison, after he protested against being placed in a male prison. The man’s passport identified him as a woman name Avery Edison.

In fact, LifeSiteNews previously reported how Correctional Services Canada (CSC) was quietly moving dangerous and violent male criminals into female prisons, due to their claim of being female.

Former inmate and prison advocate Heather Mason told the Toronto Sun’s Brad Hunter in 2019 that male criminals housed with women include serial pedophile Matthew “Madilyn” Harks (reportedly now released); contract killer Fallon Aubee; child killer and rapist “Tara” Desousa (formerly Adam Laboucane); murderer John “Jamie” Boulachanis; and serial sex offender Patrick “Tara” Pearsall.

Mason previously wrote on Facebook that the CSC was even aware of the danger which these men posed to the female inmates, as another inmate in Ontario had revealed to Mason how CSC medical staff were “handing out the morning after pill” to female prisoners.

“They currently have three ‘trans’ inmates here and I use the term trans loosely here because they are openly telling the other female inmates they are not really trans. They are only at GVI to have sex with the females,” she noted.

Reporting on Mason’s testimony, Brad Hunter wrote for the Toronto Sun at the time: “These self-identifying transgender jailbirds are dangerous. And the female cons know it.”

In a 2018 op-ed, LifeSite’s Jonathan Van Maren noted the global phenomena of male prisoners claiming to be female and being awarded “cushier prison sentences” as a result.

TORONTO, Ontario, July 15, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – In the wake of vaccine certification requirements being implemented in some Canadian provinces, a bioethics professor at the University of Toronto has publicly stated that “vaccine passports” are unnecessary and will lead to an increase of fear, anxiety, and division among the public.

Dr. Kerry Bowman, Ph.D., also an expert in global health, has been speaking out on the social effects of vaccine passports for some months, and has criticized the implementation of COVID-19 certification policies publicly since at least June, saying that such “passports” are “divisive, they’re bureaucratic, and they’re often not evidence based.”

Within the last few weeks, the Quebec government revealed its intention to require COVID-19 “vaccine” certification in the autumn, should there be another ostensible outbreak of the virus, or a variant thereof, spread throughout the population.

“The vaccination passport is going to be used if, and only if, transmission or outbreaks justify us doing so in a certain sector of activity, or a given territory,” Health Minister Christian Dubé insisted.

While public services and those deemed essential by the Legault government will not be restricted, others such as gyms, bars, concerts, sporting events, and festivals could be placed on a “moderate” or “high” risk category list, restricting entry to the double jabbed.

The Manitoba administration, in like manner, has initiated an “immunization card” scheme within its province for those who have a Manitoba health card and have “received all required doses of a vaccine (that means for Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca, you require two doses).” Applicants are reminded to wait at least two weeks since their final dose before applying for the certificate, in order to be considered “fully vaccinated.”

As things stand, the scheme allows certified “immunized” individuals to forego quarantine requirements when travelling between provinces as well as an enhanced ability to visit friends and family in hospitals.

So great has been the demand for the certificates that the government website now displays a disclaimer, informing hopeful passport holders of a backlog in production of the cards, and suggesting that “digital cards are available for use immediately” while physical certificates “will be mailed as soon as supplies are available.”

For those who decide not to take the jab in Manitoba, they are advised that “you may not be able to take part in specific activities that can be accessed by individuals who are fully-immunized. You are strongly encouraged to continue to practice physical distancing, wear a mask and reduce contact with people outside your household.”

Bowman criticized the Manitoba government’s approach, explaining that holding restrictions over citizens who don’t take the “vaccines” will place immense pressure on them, essentially coercing them into taking the jab.

“There’s this anxiety that everyone’s going to need one. And I’m not sure we’re going to need any,” the professor lamented. Manitobans will undoubtedly feel that “if they don’t have this, that they’re going to have really very restricted lives.”

“The last thing we need in this challenging, difficult world we live in is one more thing to divide people,” Bowman added.

Regarding Quebec’s passport scheme, Bowman noted the need for the government to demonstrate why it is necessary to prove immunity to COVID-19 to engage in normal activities, describing the move as “a kind of nudge to the younger generation to get on with it and get vaccinated.”

“But you need to show compelling evidence that you need to do this. Anything that creates divisions among people is very problematic, and freedom of movement is a democratic principle that we don’t talk about,” he said.

“There’s ethical concerns with vaccine passports and I think that, if we use them within our country, there really has to be some strong justification for it,” Bowman told CityNews Montreal. “Where you go for coffee, where you go for dinner, where you go for a drink, all of that is monitored.

CANADA, July 15, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – The head of Rebel News, Ezra Levant, told FOX News host Tucker Carlson that the multitude of arson attacks on churches in Canada are the nation’s “Black Lives Matter” moment, and called out the near silence regarding the burnings from the nation’s top leaders.

“It's the Canadian equivalent of when Black Lives Matter burns down black owned businesses in black neighborhoods – that does not help black people,” Levant told Carlson last week.

There has been heavy media coverage of the discovery of unmarked graves at now-closed residential schools once run by the Church in parts of Canada and now nearly 40 churches, most of them Catholic, have either been burned or vandalized.

An online map posted by True North News shows the locations of these churches.

“All of a sudden Canada looks a lot like the Soviet Union,” Carlson began.

“Seem like we're exaggerating a little bit? Well, they're burning Catholic and Anglican churches in recent days. Leftist groups are. But Canada's leaders aren't condemning the burning of churches. No, they're endorsing the burning of churches,” he continued.

Levant told Carlson that most of the churches being burned are “Aboriginal-focused.”

“And you often have, in one case, white Antifa-style vandals…filming themselves desecrating a church. And the trouble is from the very top, it's either silence or tacit support,” said Levant.

Levant added he is “reluctant to use the word Kristallnacht because we're not there yet,” in regard to the church burnings in Canada.

“It was a precursor to the Holocaust. Obviously, we are not that far gone yet, but what do you call it when literally dozens of churches are being systematically vandalized, torched?”

Kristallnacht was the burning of Jewish synagogues, homes, businesses, schools, and hospitals at the hands of the Nazis in Germany in 1938, which resulted in many deaths and thousands of Jewish people taken to concentration camps; ultimately six million Jews died in the Holocaust.

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau waited weeks before acknowledging the church vandalism, and when he did speak, he said it is “understandable” that churches have been burned, also saying it is “unacceptable and wrong.”

In early July, Gerald Butts, a former adviser and close friend to Trudeau was called out for saying the recent rash of arson and vandalism attacks on mostly Catholic churches are “understandable.”

Carlson called out both Butts as well as Harsha Walia, executive director of the British Columbia (B.C.) Civil Liberties Association (BCCLA). Walia recently sparked online fury after openly calling for violence against Catholic parishes, writing on Twitter, “Burn it all down.”

Said Carlson of Walia, “the head of the B.C. Civil Rights Commission says burn it all down. I mean, that person sounds like a dangerous lunatic. Is that who is that? What is going on?”

Levant responded to Carlson by noting that Walia “hasn't been sacked” yet because of her comments, noting that a lot the churches being burned have been ones with Aboriginal Indigenous congregants, who have asked for their churches to not be burned down.

Although the residential school system was founded by the secular government in the 19th century, and then woefully underfunded by the state, and although different religious groups were asked to run the schools, the Catholic Church has borne the brunt of recent criticism.

Catholic author Michael O’Brien who attended residential schools and gave testimony to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, previously told LifeSiteNews that the chief underlying issue in the residential school saga was the institutional abuse of children by removing them from their families by the state authorities, and then taken to the schools, noting the “long-term psychological and social effects of this.”

Furthermore, residential schools were severely underfunded, meaning that children did not receive sufficient medical care. These children often suffered from excessively high rates of tuberculosis. From 1910 through 1920, child mortality rates were consistently high. Additionally, the Department of Indian Affairs often refused to ship home the bodies of children who died at the government-mandated schools, meaning they were frequently buried on site.

I read an interesting report today from CIRA, the Canadian Internet Registration Authority that talked about an apparent pivot towards .CA domains in Canada. Here’s a highlight from the report, and then I’ll share my two cents, hint – I don’t necessarily degree this is as exciting as they make it sound…

The pandemic has brought about an exceptional year for Canada’s internet landscape, and particularly for the .CA domain. Data from CIRA —the non-profit organization that manages the .CA domain on behalf of all Canadians— suggests that Canadians are choosing a .CA domain name for their websites more than ever before.

The findings come from the Q1 2021 .CA Insights Report, which showcases .CA domain registration data from January to March 2021. Using a combination of .CA Registry data, third-party vendors, and publicly available data, the report shows the emerging trends in Canada’s online presence and the pandemic’s impact on Canadian domain registrations.

Overall, the first quarter of 2021 has seen a large rise in .CA domains registered, demonstrating the value of the Canadian brand both nationally and globally.

Okay, so reading this at first it sounds like .CA domains are on a tear…but when you look at the growth numbers, while they did triple year over year, that tripling was from 0.35% to 0.99%. In my book, it’s hard to claim explosive growth in anything when the growth rate is 1% y/y 🤷‍♂️

While I know that interest in domains grew during the pandemic as consumers shifted from in-store to online, I don’t know if I think .CA suddenly reached a tipping point. That being said, I don’t mean to totally poo poo .CA domains. I know that people like them in Canada and yes, they’re definitely more popular as a ccTLD than say .US domains in the US, but we really use .COM as our ccTLD here.

At the end of the day, I think during the pandemic, more Canadians than ever before launched online businesses, and when they did, they found the .COM was taken and .CA became their next logical choice. So while I think it’s great that .CA saw some growth over the last year, I don’t think there’s any fundamental shift where Canadians would now rather have a .COM than a .CA. Instead, like I said, I think more people started online businesses, saw the .COM was taken, and went for .CA.

Overall the reality is domain names as a whole have seen and will continue to see incredible growth as the whole world makes the shift to buying online. What do you think? 84-year-old Ontario woman held in isolation in LTC home

Although Ontario is entering its third stage of reopening, some citizen’s lives are still not going back to normal.

Ruth Tufex, 84-years-old, is a resident at The Village of Glendale Crossing – a long-term care home (LTC) in London, Ontario. Ruth is unvaccinated and has not been allowed to leave her LTC without the threat of being isolated for 14 days.

While fully vaccinated residents are allowed to come and go as they please, unvaccinated residents are held to a different standard and are being treated very differently.

On July 7, Ruth’s daughter Corina Morrison put in a request to take her mother out from the premises for a hair appointment – that request was denied.

In an email from the Pandemic Response Ministry of Long-Term Care, Corina was told only “fully-immunized residents” are allowed to leave the facility and in an email from the LTC she was told that, “Should you take your mom out without approval she will have to be in isolation for 14 days upon return, due to the risk of possible exposure and risk to the village.”

“I’m not upset with the facility, I know they’re following the Ministry’s rules,” Cornia told True North.

Corina took her mom out anyway, for her “mental well-being” as well as to get her hair done.

The general manager of the LTC, Cindy Awde, was informed that Ruth was taken out of the facility and emailed Corina to let her know her mother would now be isolated.

After a couple of days into Ruth’s isolation, Corina reached out to the LTC requesting for her mom to be taken out of quarantine and to instead be given a rapid COVID test. “My mother is healthier than our whole family put together. She’s a strong German woman,” Corina told True North. The general manager responded, in an email, that they will perform a rapid test if Corina wished but that her mother will still need to be isolated for the full 14 days no matter the test result. Awde ended her email with, “I did let you know this would happen if you chose to take her out.”

Corina and her family are challenging these regulations and continue to advocate for Ruth’s mental well-being.

The mandatory quarantine put in place by the Ministry of Health and the LTC has not stopped Corina’s family from making their daily visits to Ruth. From day one of Ruth’s quarantine, Corina has taken her mother out of her room to walk around the building, pushing her in a wheelchair for some fresh air.

Not only did the LTC threaten Ruth with isolation, which she is still in the middle of, but they also threatened to not let Ruth’s daughter Corina into the facility if she does not “follow the visiting rules/policy.”

“You want to frisk me, frisk me, handcuff me, put me in jail, whatever. I will walk through fire for my little mama,” Corina said.

Ruth has had two rapid tests done so far, both came back negative, but she is still not allowed to leave her room.

According to LTC’s rules, family members are allowed to visit, except when a resident is in isolation. The LTC is taking it a step further and now asking family members for proof of the vaccine. Continue…

They, and a consultant who doesn’t even reside in Toronto, were permitted to determine that the activities of a man few knew from 1776 were racist and offensive to Indigenous and black groups.

Even Tory admitted he had no idea who Henry Dundas was or that Dundas St. was named after him until the vocal easily offended minority brought the street’s namesake to the mayor’s attention.

The consultant from QuakeLab–Sharon Nyangweso – was selected based on her expertise with “equity seeking groups,” according to city manager Chris Murray who sported an orange ribbon supporting the Indigenous on his suit jacket during the council debate.

Nyangweso, who made $66,100 for her efforts, was brought on board to conduct “discovery sessions” with the black and Indigenous communities in Toronto.

Her purpose, apparently, was to determine whether the name should be changed in its entirety as opposed to merely pursuing a far less costly and intrusive option such as posting a series of plaques acknowledging the history of the Dundas St. name.

It gets worse than that! We also followed up with Abigail eight days after her suspension without pay, and you won’t believe how she was spoken to by Kristin Bowling Manning, Eddie Bauer’s Regional Human Resource Manager. While at first Abigal was suspended, she was later officially fired.

I tried to reach out to Eddie Bauer for a statement, as well as clarification regarding their company's COVID related policies, but did not hear back. It would have been great to hear from them about the purpose of forcing asymptomatic and healthy employees to wear a mask. Especially since fully vaccinated individuals can still catch, transmit, be hospitalized for, and die with COVID-19.

I reached out to the Academy for more information regarding their connections to Masonry and satanism, they replied "We are not freemasons, and to our knowledge, none of our teachers are freemasons either" and repeated the FAQ's statement on the number 33. They also said that their logo is called the Merkabah and provided a link with an explanation based on Sacred Geometry, a practice used by the Freemasons and other occult organizations.

Interestingly, the response did not address whether or not they are satanists.

As for the Merkabah, a "coincidence" is that there is also an early school of Jewish mysticism called Merkabah Mysticism, centered largely on the book of Ezekiel.

Last week, Dr. Hoffe was interviewed again by Laura-Lynn Tyler Thompson, and he continues to share his findings with the public regarding the experimental COVID-19 shots.

Dr. Hoffe is truly a hero today, risking not only his reputation, but probably his very life to bring important information regarding the COVID-19 shots that the Globalists who control the corporate media and social media are trying very hard to censor.

In this latest interview, Dr. Hoffe states that the blood clots that are being reported in the corporate media as being “rare” are anything but rare, based on his own testing of his own patients who had recently received one of the shots.

The blood clots we hear about which the media claim are very rare are the big blood clots which are the ones that cause strokes and show up on CT scans, MRI, etc. The clots I’m talking about are microscopic and too small to find on any scan. They can thus only be detected using the D-dimer test.

Using this test with his own patients, Dr. Hoffe claims that he has found evidence of small blood clots in 62% of his patients who have been injected with an mRNA shot.

He states that these people are now permanently disabled, and they will no longer “be able to do what they used to do.”

These people have no idea they are even having these microscopic blood clots. The most alarming part of this is that there are some parts of the body like the brain, spinal cord, heart and lungs which cannot re-generate. When those tissues are damaged by blood clots they are permanently damaged.

His warning is very dire: “These shots are causing huge damage and the worst is yet to come.”

Stephens is a father of eight and serves as the pastor of Fairview Baptist Church in Calgary, Alberta. He was arrested June 14 for holding an outdoor prayer service in violation of Alberta’s COVID-19, despite the rarity of outdoor transmission of the virus. He was previously arrested for holding indoor church services, for which the authorities changed the locks to prevent entry to the church.

Stephens was released July 2 with the help of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms, after the news that orders from the Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) would be rescinded and cancelled. Control of church buildings was also returned to the congregants on July 1, but the threat of grave legal penalties still hangs over his head.

“Legally speaking, I’m in a lot of trouble,” Stephens told radio host Mark Patrone on Wednesday (the interview begins approximately 44 minutes into the episode). “I have the criminal charge against me still outstanding, and my court date for that keeps getting adjourned. I’m supposed to be in court July 26, and then I have a number of summons against me for public health violations, and so I think I have six or seven of those, and those carry a penalty of up to $100,000 or up to $500,000 for repeat offenses, so multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars of fine.”

Residents pass barbed wire fence, hold “swim-in” protest to reclaim Harold Quarry

As previously reported by Rebel News, for almost a century, a swimming hole located north of Stirling-Rawdon, Ont., served as a summertime oasis for residents.

But recently, the quarry that houses the water hole was walled-off with a barbed wire fence. The parking area has also been secured with a steel gate, so that no cars can park here, either. Total cost to the taxpayer: more than $48,000!

Apparently, Stirling-Rawdon’s insurance company warned of serious liability issues if someone were to be hurt while using the quarry (even though this natural pool has been joyfully used since the 1930s).

Of note, it remains unclear if the insurance company was fretting over water safety, falling safety, or COVID safety. Maybe it’s all of the above?

But residents are fighting back with “swim-in” protests, and the latest one took place last Saturday (which was a perfect summertime day for a swim, thankfully).

The barbed wire fence was easily defeated, thanks to a couple of ladders. Of note: there is a rumour that the township might make the barbed wire fence higher! The protesters don’t care about that — they have access to taller ladders, after all.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police dropped by the swimming hole during previous swim-in protests. But the OPP officers were no-shows on Saturday. And the swim-in protesters were actually disappointed by that. Many expressed a desire to be charged so they could fight the fence mandate in court, given that many believe the township is on shaky legal grounds in terms of closing off the water hole.

In any event, the protesters actually had a jolly good time swimming in a natural swimming pool. No one drowned. No one fell to their death. No one (we presume) caught COVID-19 or any other virus. Fancy that!

I went to Saint-Catherine Street in downtown Montreal to find out what Quebecers think about the upcoming implementation of a COVID vaccine passport, about one hour before the official announcement.

Regardless of whether people have been vaccinated or not, many of them perceive this extreme measure as an interference with our rights and freedoms, and as something that is likely to cause divides in our society.

The passport was announced the same day as measures that could be implemented if COVID cases again begin to rise and the public health situation deteriorates. So we will see if the vaccine passport is just a way to convince people to go get vaccinated, or if Quebec will really embrace the concept.

Trudeau government loses track of electric car chargers, pays American company $680K to find them

The Liberals lost track of the nation’s electric car chargers, and as a consequence, an American company has a sole sourced $681,000 contract to locate the charging stations and map them.

Rebel News knows where some of these things are, especially the under-utilized ones installed by the federal government to charge electric vehicles they didn’t have yet. We will tell the government where they are, for the low, low fee of half a million bucks.

The untendered $545,000 USD contract to the Colorado-based National Renewable Energy Laboratory, operated by the Alliance for Sustainable Energy, came at the request of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan).

“NRCan has a requirement to continue the development, maintenance and enhancement of the electric charging and alternative fuelling station locator, including the data administration tool and supporting database.”

Many of the federally managed e-car charging stations are lost to the world because no one uses them. I have documents to prove it.

The information comes from a 2018 order paper question that shows which federal departments erected electric car chargers, where they are, and how infrequently people are using them. Those documents showed that several agencies installed chargers for e-cars they didn’t even have. Those agencies were Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Public Safety National Research Council, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and NRCan — which could save some money on sole-sourced contracts to American companies by looking out the window at the e-car charger out front of their building with cobwebs all over it.

The CFB Esquimalt naval base had nine chargers for one car.

But the larger question remains: why can’t people find their own car charging stations for their heavily subsidized novelty cars?

An educator with the Toronto District School Board has been reinstated to his job following a nearly two-month investigation into two virulently anti-Israel manuals he sent out to board teachers.

Javier DaVila, a student equity program advisor and a self-described “queer Latine transformer” announced in a lengthy message to his supporters Friday morning that he’d been cleared without discipline.

He’d been on home assignment with pay since May 26 when it was first revealed that he’d released two manuals on May 16 and 19 which proposed, among other things, that teachers view a documentary about a Palestinian terrorist and recommended children’s books characterizing Israelis as thieves and murderers.

The manuals also give advice on how to teach students about the hateful Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement against Israel, which has been determined anti-Semitic by scholars of the Holocaust.

DaVila contended he’d carefully “curated” resources for educators specific to Israel and Palestine, many with often (allegedly) “erased Palestinian voices.” His manuals included no pro-Israel voices.

In his message of thanks, he singles out the “collective actions” of support including a public petition (in which I was characterized as racist and ultra-right wing) signed by nearly 5,000 people and put together by such labour unions as CUPE, CUPW and the Canadian Federation of Students.

He also noted the support for his educational panel called “Teaching Palestine” – broadcast online on June 30 and which included discussions with four academics who’ve very publicly demonized the Jewish state.

DaVila says his Gofundme page – set up to defend his rights and which now has collected $8,425 of its $12,500 goal – will “continue to be used” to defend his rights and the “right to stand up for Palestinian rights.

He signs off with a message to those who might be fearful to engage in Palestine solidarity work: “I hope this offers those of you who are hesitant the courage to break the fear barrier and offer your daily commitment…to resist anti-Palestinian racism, settler colonialism…our students are depending on it.”

The B’nai Brith issued a statement Friday indicating their “outrage” with DaVila’s reinstatement.

“If the TDSB has really imposed no discipline in this matter, then it is sending a clear signal that it regards Jewish students, Jewish teachers and the Jewish community as second-class constituents,” said Michael Mostyn, B’nai Brith’s CEO. “There is no way the TDSB would tolerate the glorification of violence against any other minority group.”

Mostyn said this makes it clear TDSB has a “serious antisemitism problem.”

In Canada hiring a private detective is legal so long as certain rules are followed and the investigator is licensed to practice in the province where the investigation takes place.

CALGARY, Alberta, July 16, 2021 (LifeSiteNews) – The head of the Justice Center for Constitutional Freedoms (JCCF) is taking an “indefinite” leave of absence after admitting he had a Canadian judge and other government officials followed by a private investigator to see if they were breaking local COVID rules.

“On Monday July 12, 2021, the members of the Board of Directors of the Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms (Justice Centre) were informed that a private investigator had been retained by Justice Centre President John Carpay to conduct surveillance on senior government officials, including Chief Justice Joyal of the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench, in regard to their compliance with Covid regulations,” reads a press release from the JCCF sent out Tuesday.

“For years, Mr. Carpay has been a tireless advocate for Canadians’ constitutional rights and freedoms. With the integrity that we know him for, he has owned this mistake, openly, directly, and without reservation. Mr. Carpay has advised the Board that, effective today, he is taking an indefinite period of leave from his responsibilities at the Justice Centre.”

Carpay founded the JCCF in 2010, saying at the time there was a “desperate need for Canadian university students facing censorship to have reliable and competent legal representation, free of charge, from a team of experienced lawyers.”

The JCCF has appointed one its current lawyers, Lisa Bildy, as interim president effective immediately.

In Canada, according to Investigation Hotline, hiring a private detective is legal so long as certain rules are followed and the investigator is licensed to practice in the province where the investigation takes place.

Licensed private investigators are not allowed to enter someone’s property. They are also not allowed to wiretap one’s phones, access bank records or credit information.

According to Manitoba government justice department, one can hire a private investigator only “after the business has been issued and receives a license from Manitoba Justice.”

The JCCF said none of its board members were aware of, or had prior knowledge, that Carpay had planned to have officials surveilled.

“Had the Board been advised of the plan, it would have immediately brought it to an end. Mr. Carpay has acknowledged that he made the decision unilaterally. Apart from the Justice Centre’s Litigation Director, none of the Justice Centre’s lawyers or Board members were aware that this was occurring until July 12,” noted the JCCF.

In a statement by Carpay, he noted that he personally apologized to Joyal for having him observed “to hold government officials accountable.”

“In an error of judgement, Chief Justice Joyal was included with the observation of government officials,” wrote Carpay.

“No other judges were included. Over the last 16 months, Canadians have faced unprecedented restrictions on their Charter-guaranteed freedoms to travel, assemble, associate with others, and worship. The Justice Centre’s mandate is to defend Canadians’ constitutional freedoms through litigation and education.”

Carpay added that the surveillance was in “no way” intended to “influence or impact the Justice Centre’s litigation efforts, or any of our court cases.”

“This decision was my own initiative, and was not discussed with Justice Centre clients, staff lawyers or Board members,” wrote Carpay.

News broke Monday that Carpay had Joyal followed, after the judge announced his being surveilled during a hearing on Monday for a JCCF case involving churches fighting COVID-19 restrictions.

According to a CBC report, Joyal said he noticed a car following him on July 8 after leaving a court hearing in downtown Winnipeg. He also claimed that the private investigator followed him to his home and had someone ring his bell to ascertain if he lived there.

Joyal said that he has accepted an apology from Carpay saying that despite his “grave, grave concerns about what's happened and the administration of justice, it does go a ways, a significant ways, to at least hear counsel accept responsibility for what's happened.”

A new report by the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) warns that Canadians are likely to encounter efforts by foreign actors, namely Russia, China and Iran, to influence or interfere with their vote in the next federal election.

The CSE believes that an election during the COVID-19 pandemic could increase the threat of foreign interference due to Canadians’ reliance on the internet for day-to-day needs.

According to the report, Canada is a potential target because of its active role on the world stage and that foreign actors have the tools, capacity and understanding of Canada’s political landscape to take action in the future “should they have the strategic intent.”

“Threat actors may use cyber tools to target Canada’s democratic process to change election outcomes, influence policy-makers’ choice, impact governmental relationships with foreign and domestic partners, and impact Canada’s reputation around the world,” the report said.

The CSE report comes in light of anticipation of a snap election in the next month, as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other party leaders have already begun campaigning.

In its report, the government agency was particularly concerned about an expected increase in the number of Canadians who will vote by mail. The CSE believes foreign actors could try to use mail-in votes as a way to undercut confidence in the election results.

“We assess that it is very likely that false information connecting voting by mail to voter fraud will circulate in Canada in relation to the next federal election,” according to the report.

While the threat of foreign interference should concern Canadians, the government agency expressed confidence in Elections Canada to hold an election while managing the threat.

“While any modifications to the electoral process have the potential to increase the cyber threat, we assess that the planned changes do not substantially expand the cyber threat to Canada’s democratic process,” reads the report.

The self-styled “prince of pot” is running for the People’s Party of Canada in London North Centre.

Political activist and cannabis entrepreneur Marc Emery is among 173 PPC candidates confirmed so far, according to a list released by the party Friday afternoon.

Emery has deep roots in London and is in the process of returning to the city, where his brother is opening a cannabis store.

Emery, who ran in the former London East as a Libertarian in 1980, said he’s come “full circle” with his latest candidacy.

“It was 30 years ago this summer I began my legalization of cannabis campaign in London, and now it comes full circle as I return to live and work in London once more, selling legal cannabis,” Emery said. “I know every street in the London North Centre riding, having walked every one of them in campaigns of the past.”

In an email to True North, PPC spokesperson Martin Masse welcomed Emery’s candidacy.

“Marc has been a vocal supporter of Mr. Bernier since the days of the CPC leadership campaign,” Masse said. “He spent most of his adult life fighting for more freedom and paid the price by spending many years in prison for a crime that doesn’t exist anymore. The PPC is a broad coalition of people from different backgrounds and perspectives united in the desire to restore common sense policies in this country, and we’re very happy to have Marc run as a candidate for the People’s Party.”

In a January interview on The Andrew Lawton Show, Emery said the “COVID dictatorship” had, in part, motivated his candidacy.

“The bottom line is, I think the People’s party will become much more popular because they’re a clear alternative to the Conservatives, Liberals, Greens, NDP,” Emery said at the time. “Those four parties…have endorsed the same totalitarian authoritarian measures. They’ve all been part of the dictatorship.”

London North Centre is currently held by two-term Liberal member of parliament Peter Fragiskatos, though the Conservative Party of Canada held the seat from 2011 to 2015.

Fragiskatos is seeking re-election, with Conservative candidate Stephen Gallant and NDP candidate Dirka Prout also vying for the seat.

The debate surrounding vaccine passports, and the notion of affording certain rights and privileges only to the vaccinated, rages on here in Canada. Justin Trudeau’s Liberal government has already enacted changes to international travel restrictions and mandatory quarantines that exclusively punish the unvaccinated. A number of provinces, including Quebec and Manitoba, have announced the implementation of some form of government-issued proof-of-vaccination ID.

Many university and college campuses have announced that students must be vaccinated in order to live in residence — with Toronto's Seneca College announcing that all students and faculty must be vaccinated in order to attend campus at all. And many businesses and venues have stated that they will only serve those who have taken the COVID-19 vaccine. The debate surrounding vaccine passports involves concerns over ethics, body autonomy, medical privacy, and active discrimination.

Across the river from the main grounds of the Calgary Stampede sits the Elbow River Camp, a location that immerses visitors in the cultures of the Siksika, Piikani, Kainai, Tsuut'ina and Stoney Nakoda First Nations peoples.

There are 26 tipis representing the different nations and families, in addition to authentic artisanal goods, interpretive stations, traditional dancing and of course, bannock.

We were warmly greeted by one of the interpretive guides, Ruby Starlight Sitting Eagle, and asked her about her experience at Stampede and what it meant to share her culture with visitors.

We also spoke about the recent discoveries at residential schools and how being able to share her family’s stories with folks at the Stampede has played a part in the healing process for First Nations communities.

Ruby also decried the acts of vandalism and arson currently plaguing Canadian churches. Her own grandfather helped build Our Lady of Peace church on the Tsuut'ina First Nation. Her Catholic faith is a vital part of her identity, and her faith has helped her and many others in her community get through many challenges, including the impacts of residential school tragedies.

We have heard leaders from numerous First Nations across the country condemn acts of hatred against Christian communities that are divisive and contrary to the spirit of reconciliation. Meanwhile, progressive elites and so-called civil liberties advocates are tweeting about “burning it all down.”

I think, perhaps, the entitled politicos and sophists should sit this one out.

We need to stop speaking on behalf of our First Nations people.

We need to start listening.

Five Times More Children Committed Suicide Than Died Of COVID-19 During Lockdown: UK Study

Five times more children and young people committed suicide than died of COVID-19 during the first year of the pandemic in the United Kingdom, according to a study, which also concluded that lockdowns are more detrimental to children’s health than the virus itself.

Researchers with the University College London, the University of York, the University of Liverpool, and the University of Bristol found in a study (pdf) that has not yet been peer-reviewed that the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, otherwise known as the coronavirus, doesn’t appear to present a significant risk to children as compared with other age groups.

The study concluded:

“The risk of removal of CYP (children and young people) from their normal activities across education and social events may prove a greater risk than that of SARS-CoV-2 itself.”

SARS-CoV-2 is another name for the CCP virus.

It was revealed in the study that only 25 children under the age of 18 died of COVID-19 from the start of the pandemic until the end of February 2021. Around 61 children in all died after testing positive, but in 36 cases it was found the virus “did not contribute to their death.”

But during the same time period, there were 124 suicides among children and 268 deaths from trauma, the study authors found, while noting the virus is “rarely fatal” for children.

“These new studies show that the risks of severe illness or death from SARS-CoV-2 are extremely low in children and young people,” said University College London Professor Russell Viner, a senior author of the study, in a release this week.

“Our new findings are important as they will inform shielding guidance for young people as well as decisions about the vaccination of teenagers and children, not just in the UK but internationally.”

Professor Lorna Fraser of the University of York added that “even when we found higher risks for some groups with severe medical problems, these risks were still very small compared to risks seen in adults,” explaining that people should know that COVID-19 risks for children “are very low.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Elizabeth Whittaker of Imperial College London said that the researchers hope the “data will be reassuring for children and young people and their families.”

In November, one UK researcher issued a warning that COVID-19 lockdowns are causing a spike in children harming themselves and drug overdoses among children.

“Children are a lost tribe in the pandemic. While they remain (for the most part) perplexingly immune to the health consequences of COVID-19, their lives and daily routines have been turned upside down,” Dr. John Wright of Bradford Royal Infirmary wrote at the time.
