Trump-Backed Candidate Gets A Major Blue State Victory – Donald Praises Vito Fossella For Winning A Tight NY Primary Election

When you have the support of a former President, you should definitely have an edge over your opponent in any election. And several Trump-backed candidates have felt the power of “The Donald.”
Now, another Republican appears to have benefited from the former POTUS. And as a bonus, it appears he’ll be a GOP representative in Trump’s home state of New York.
Fossella was running for Borough President in Staten Island and he was locked in a close race with rival Steven Matteo.
But now, the results are rolling in fast and Matteo has already conceded, even though the numbers appear very close: 50.8 percent for Fossella and 49.2 percent for Matteo.
Matteo is the New York City Council minority leader, and he issued the following statement after seeing the stats:
The Board of Elections released their updated vote count tonight, which included absentee ballots.
Unfortunately, while it was extremely close, it has become clear that the lead Vito Fossella has built up with absentee ballots is insurmountable and he will be the Republican nominee for Borough President.
I would like to congratulate him on a hard-fought election.
Though the results aren’t final, it looks like Fossella is the victor.
