Fitting together nicely. MMPs function as potent tissue remodelers present in all living things. The metalloproteinase name (as well as the ase suffix Indicating enzymatic activity) indicates the requirement of a metallic mineral to activate. In the case of MMP1 it steals zinc ions. Research indicates that MMP1 is highly overactivated in Covid patients, casing their lungs to remodel and become highly fibrotic, causing them to malfunction in their design. This also explains the increased deaths from forces ventilator treatments.
I crashed out reading, but initially the most potent MMP1 inhibitor is Japanese Green Tea. As we know EGCG and other tea polyphenols are also potent zinc ionophores.
