Autofag here. Electrification of vehicles is nothing but a control device. EV's are the first products I have worked on with minimal consumer demand and marketability. EV vehicles have limited range, cannot quickly be recharged and are not compatible with all charging systems. You must have a charge account in order to use a station and that account is tied to a credit card. Want to travel outside your vehicle range? Too bad your account is turned off. Aww, there was a rolling brownout because our electrical infrastructure cannot support today's load never mind the upcoming 100% new EV mandates because muh climate. Do you really think hauling 800lbs of batteries around is efficient? At least when your fuel tank gets low your total mass is lower and resulting fuel economy increases. I can take enough energy with me to travel coast to coast in a gasoline or diesel vehicle. I must rely on infrastructure I may or may not have access to in order to do that in an EV. By the way, almost every new EV currently in production or coming soon is a station wagon. Sure they market it as a low SUV but add wood paneling and squint. You can't sell a wagon with a gasoline engine without 600hp and a manual option in any volume. I have been in the auto industry almost 30 years and worked on some of the worst selling products in history but I have never seen such a push to build vehicles with no market demand and limited marketability than the current and upcoming crop of EV's. FYI, the second gen Prius was my previous worst new car in my history. The Mach-E is the new reigning champion. Never buy a covid car, they are not production ready. Good luck early EV adopters. Best stay close to home.
