Illinois child sex offender arrested in kidnapping of 13-year-old from central Georgia

COCHRAN, Ga. — Police have arrested an Illinois man in connection with the disappearance of a 13-year-old girl from central Georgia.

The teen, who Channel 2 is not identifying because she is a victim, was reported missing last week from her home in Cochran and was later found safe in Springfield, Illinois.

On Sunday, police arrested Zachery Despain, 36, of Springfield. He’s been charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes, trafficking a person for labor or sexual servitude, kidnapping and interference with custody.

Despain is also facing multiple charges in Illinois in connection with the case.

Despain is a registered child sex offender in Illinois. According to the Illinois sex offender database, he was previously convicted of aggravated criminal sex abuse against a 14-year-old when he was 18.

National Guard chaplain, youth pastor among 18 arrested on human trafficking charges

SPRING HILL, TN (WSMV) - “You don’t ever know what kind of person is going to respond to these ads,” said Spring Hill Police Lt. Justin Whitwell on Monday.

He knows the ins and outs of the two-day joint operation that drew 18 men across Tennessee and neighboring states to Spring Hill. It all starts with an online ad, eliciting sex with a minor, followed by a phone call.

“Eighteen of them took the call and came to the location looking for a 16-year-old female,” said Whitwell.

The 18 men were arrested after they came to an undisclosed Spring Hill location. One of them, Matthew Brewer, is a youth pastor at Fairfield Baptist Church in Hickman County and a chaplain with the Tennessee National Guard.

“This person is a trusted individual in their community, and he was arrested for these charges,” Whitwell said.

The Tennessee Military Department issued a release concerning Brewer's arrest:

"The Tennessee Military Department is aware of the recent arrest of a Tennessee National Guardsman and are fully supporting and assisting civil law enforcement as they conduct their investigation. The charges made in this incident do not reflect or meet the standards of the Tennessee National Guard or the Army Values."

Whitwell said several traveled from out of state.

“Two individuals from Louisiana,” said Whitwell. “One of them was on business. He actually drove five hours just to get to Spring Hill to answer to that ad.”

“The crime continues to flourish,” said Margie Quin, CEO of End Slavery Tennessee and a former TBI special agent who organized sting operations.

“I think when we first started running these operations, we were surprised. I don’t think we’re surprised anymore,” said Quin. “I think these individuals whose preference is children are going to put themselves in a position in life to have access to children.”

Spring Hill Police said it has done a few operations like this in years past. Last year the department arrested around 15 men and they hope to continue to do them annually.

According to a new state law that went into effect July 1, all 18 men will have to serve a full sentence. There is no chance for early parole or release.

The 18 men were arrested and booked them into the Maury County Jail.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) appeared to either have a slip of the tongue or a complete misunderstanding of the facts during a rant on Monday about how much he dislikes Fox News hosts Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham. Durbin stated that “We have millions who’ve died across the world by this vaccine.”

“Sean Hannity himself said, ‘I believe in vaccinations. I do believe in science. Talk to your doctor,’ he said, ‘you don’t need to talk to people on radio and TV that aren’t dcotors,’ which goes to the point of this message,” Durbin said. “There are two host of programs on Fox primetime that can only be characterized as anti-vax quacks. I’m referring, of course, to Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingraham.”

Durbin continued, “They have been spreading what I consider to be irresponsible information about vaccines across America, and about the effort of this nation to deal with ’em. Here’s the reality: we have millions who’ve died across the world by this vaccine, we may never have an accurate count. We have hundreds of thousands who have died in the United States.”

Durbin’s rant against Carlson comes just days after it was revealed that the Fox News host’s emails were spied upon by the National Security Agency, and then leaked to mainstream media journalists who alerted Carlson to the situation.

In response to Carlson’s reporting on the unethical surveillance of his communications, an MSNBC guest accused him of being “Anti-American”:

“They could have gone to the Attorney General, and Tucker Carlson could have joined them to say ‘You know what I’m concerned about here is not that there was incidental collection when I am calling a foreigner,’ including of course when you’re trying to reach out to Vladimir Putin, you can pretty much be sure that you’re going to be, uh, high risk of being intercepted,” Weissmann said.

Weismann continued, “He could’ve said, ‘look, there’s a First Amendment issue here, and we want to make sure that there are safeguards at the Department of Justice,’ but he didn’t take that route. He did, as you said, and as Frank pointed out, he wanted to use this really or his own purposes and to sow distrust, which is so anti-American.”

RAW FOOTAGE: Man Wanted For Murder, Kidnapping of Teen Girls Shot At Least 10 Rounds At Deputies Before Being Killed In Shootout

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Early Monday morning, around 2:45 a.m., deputies with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office located a suspect who was wanted for a murder that occurred in Okaloosa County.

The suspect was a passenger in a White Ford Escape. When Escambia County deputies stopped the vehicle at Inez Street and Carrick Street, the suspect jumped out of the passenger seat and immediately fired multiple rounds at the two deputies.

The deputies returned fire striking the suspect twice. The suspect, identified as Johnny Ray Kirk, 22, was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries.

No deputies were injured during the incident.

According to WALA, ‘Kirk was wanted in connection to the shooting death of an 80-year-old man in Crestview on Saturday. Sheriff Simmons said Kirk also held two 16-year-old girls at gunpoint and forced them to drive him from Defuniak Springs to Crestview the night before the murder.’

Kirk “was firing as fast as he possibly could, trying to kill as many people as he could,” Escambia County Sheriff’s Chip Simmons said.

“I think what you have here is an individual who did not care about life. He did not care what his victims were like. He did not care that they were 16-year-olds. He brought a gun with him to coerce them into taking him to Crestview, but he wasn’t finished,” Simmons said. “He decided to commit the senseless act of murdering an 80-year-old man and stealing his truck as his next venture.

Over 300,000 Sign Petition Demanding a Special Counsel to Investigate Biden Family Corruption

Over 300,000 people have signed a Judicial Watch petition asking a special counsel to be appointed to investigate alleged Biden family corruption following years of allegations of pay-for-play schemes and questions looming around Hunter Biden’s business dealings with China and his role on the board of the Ukrainian oligarch-owned energy company Burisma, particularly as his father served as vice president at the time.

“There is substantial evidence, from documents and witness statements, that the Biden family, including President Joe Biden, may have been involved in criminal activity involving, among other issues, foreign entities tied to Ukraine and China,” the government watchdog’s petition states, noting that Hunter has “already acknowledged that he is the target” of an FBI criminal investigation.

“A special counsel should immediately be appointed because the Biden Justice Department is conflicted in investigating any matter that could implicate President Biden or his immediate family,” the petition adds.

Nearly 310,000 people signed the petition as of Monday afternoon. The petition has a goal of 500,000 signatures.

Critics fear Hunter will attempt to cash in on the Biden family name through this new venture, as his art is already slated to sell at what some say are inflated prices — up to half a million dollars.

“And anybody who buys it would be guaranteed instant profit,” Alex Acevedo, owner of the Alexander Gallery in Midtown Manhattan, told the New York Post “He’s the president’s son. Everybody would want a piece of that. The provenance is impeccable.’’

Hunter is working with Soho art dealer Georges Bergès, who is expected to sell Hunter’s art this fall. The White House, meanwhile, is crafting a plan to make the buyers of his art remain anonymous, even to the artist himself.

CDC Investigating Cases of Neurological Disorder Linked to Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has said that it’s investigating the possibility that Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine can cause a rare neurological disorder known as Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS), while J&J confirmed it is “in discussions” with federal agencies.

A spokesperson for the CDC told several news outlets on July 12 that the risk of developing the neurological disorder is very slim and is outweighed by the benefits of the J&J vaccine. The agency is investigating reports linking the vaccine to GBS, the spokesperson noted.

“Reports of GBS after receipt of the J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine in the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) are rare, but do likely indicate a small possible risk of this side effect following this vaccine,” the CDC spokesperson said in a statement. “Around 100 preliminary reports of GBS have been detected in VAERS after 12.8 million doses of J&J/Janssen COVID-19 Vaccine administered. These cases have largely been reported about two weeks after vaccination and mostly in males, many aged 50 years and older.”

According to the federal health agency, GBS is a neurological disorder when the body’s immune systems damage nerve cells and cause muscle weakness. In some cases, the disorder can cause paralysis, says the Mayo Clinic, noting that “most people with the condition must be hospitalized to receive treatment.”

“Each year in the United States, an estimated 3,000 to 6,000 people develop GBS; it is typically triggered by a respiratory or gastrointestinal infection. Most people fully recover from GBS,” the CDC spokesperson told news outlets on July 12.

J&J, in a statement on Monday, confirmed it has “been in discussions with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and other regulators about rare cases of the neurological disorder, Guillain-Barre syndrome, that have been reported following vaccination with the Janssen COVID-19 vaccine.”

‘Bay of Tweets’: Twitter Permits Anti-Cuba Bot Army Despite ‘Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior’ Rules

The United Nations has voted every year since 1992 to condemn the US 60-year embargo of Cuba, which is responsible for shortages in fuel, medicine, and essential parts on the island that have affected the life of every one of its 11.5 million people. Despite the suffering, the US maintains “sanctions are tools for democracy.”

Even before protests broke out in Cuba on Sunday, a coordinated online campaign to spread anti-Cuban messages had begun circulating on Twitter. Not only does the social media giant appear to be uninterested in stopping it, but it has a history of arbitrarily shutting down Cuban government and media accounts as well.

As reports of protests in Cuba over brownouts and shortages of medical supplies spread on Sunday, debate on social media raged about the meaning of the demonstrations. Supporters of the Cuban government soon found themselves inundated with replies by accounts with zero followers and that followed zero accounts and had been created within the last few months or even days.

These accounts liked each others’ posts, replied and posted en masse, using similar messages. Some of them even had identical names, like “john appleseed,” which appeared at least twice.

Several large accounts reported being quickly inundated, but even users with “small” accounts and few followers anecdotally noted their posts about Cuba were being replied to by the mystery posters almost instantly.

The accounts have also retweeted and amplified posts critical of Cuba and its leaders, including a July 9 tweet by former adult film star Mia Khalifa that tagged Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel and said “dude you f*cking suck” and misinformation posts such as a video of Buenos Aires, Argentina, that was passed off as “Cuba right now.”

Bot Armies Prepare Ground for Protests

However, the phenomenon didn’t simply start on Sunday: it began building several days earlier with the hashtag #SOSCuba, following the formula used for many other regime change programs directed by the United States, including the 2019 coup d’etat against Bolivian President Evo Morales and attempted coup of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro.

News portal Dominio Cuba noted on July 9 that a huge number of what it called “bots” were mass-posting identical or nearly identical messages just seconds after one another.
