'We are not a club': Houston's Turkey Leg Hut draws 'anti-Black' criticism over dress code
Houston's Turkey Leg Hut restaurant announced Friday it will enforce a new dress code, sparking a fury of mixed online responses from critics who say the move is "anti-Black" and others who say it's been long overdue.
TLH's new dress code prohibits patrons from wearing "excessively revealing clothing," including panties, swim wear, sports bras, ripped clothing and excessively short shorts. Baggy pants, inappropriate language on clothing, and "house attire," including wave caps, du-rags, house shoes or shower caps, are also prohibited.
"We were forced to put this new policy in place as we remain committed to ensuring all guests are comfortable while visiting us," the restaurant stated in a Facebook post. "We are not a club, we are a family-friendly restaurant and will continue to maintain our standards as we welcome everyone to the Turkey Leg Hut."
