Similar in my state. We also have to give the intruder a warning and an out. If they panic and run, using deadly force will bring criminal charges. If they proceed to lunge at you with intent to do bodily harm, then and only then, is deadly force permissible. Check your state website and know your 'stand your ground' rights/laws inside and out.
