Tony Rodham is the youngest brother of Hillary Rodham Clinton. He is a former repo man, prison guard and private detective who used to work to secure foreign financing for a company. In October 2013, Tony Rodham joined the advisory board of VCS Mining, a Delaware-based company that was planning a gold mine in the Cap-Haïtien and was awarded the contract for carrying mining activities. It was a both lucrative and controversial deal, because Haiti has an estimated gold reserve of about $20 billion and the permit for mining was not issued to anyone in the last 50 years.

It was later revealed that the Haitian government was agreed to accept a royalty rate from the VCS Mining which was at least half the standard rate at 2.5%.

The contract also came with a privilege to renew the mining project in Morne Bossa for up to 25 years.

However, when the mine permit was suspended in early 2013 due to environmental and level of foreign ownership issues, another board member of VCS mining, Jean-Max Bellerive, a former Haitian prime minister was involved to persuade Haitian Senators to support the project.

DEA Confirms Former Informant Arrested in Haitian President’s Assassination

A Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) official confirmed that a suspect allegedly involved in the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was a former informant to the agency.

A DEA official told Fox News and other news outlets Tuesday that “At times, one of the suspects in the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse was a confidential source to the DEA.”

After the assassination of Moïse earlier this week, the suspect reached out to his DEA contacts, while a DEA official called on him to surrender to local authorities, the spokesperson added.

“DEA is aware of reports that President Moïse’s assassins yelled ‘DEA’ at the time of their attack. These individuals were not acting on behalf of DEA,” the spokesperson continued.

Haitian authorities last week arrested two Haitian-American men, Joseph Vincent, 55, and James Solages, 35, and charged them with joining 26 Colombians in the fatal attack on Haitian President Jovenel Moïse.

Texas Democrat Responds to Governor’s Threat: ‘I Can’t Get Arrested’ Because No Crime Committed

A Texas Democrat lawmaker on Tuesday said she is not worried about Gov. Greg Abbott’s promise to arrest her and other Democrat lawmakers who left Texas to prevent a special legislative session.

“I don’t worry—probably because I know the law, and the governor knows the law, as well. I’m a criminal defense attorney, and so I understand that I’ve not committed a crime, so I can’t get arrested,” Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat, said during an interview on CNN.

Crockett further claimed the Texas Speaker of the House can only call to have the lawmakers detained, not arrested.

“I’m not worried about the threat of being arrested. The most that can happen is that we can be detained, which is why we got out of the state. The governor of Texas has no jurisdiction outside of the state of Texas, along with [the Texas Department of Public Safety],” Crockett said.

In a move underscoring the political brinkmanship in the state, Texas Democrats confirmed Monday they flew via a chartered plane to Washington D.C. after walking out on Republicans’ proposed election overhaul bill. Republicans say the bill is needed to secure the state’s elections and restore Texans’ confidence in their elections, while Democrats have said it would unfairly target minority groups and is tantamount to voter suppression.

On May 30, during the previous session, Democrats walked out at the last minute, preventing Republicans—who have a majority in the Legislature—from passing the voting bill. As a result, Abbott called for a special legislative session that was supposed to start Tuesday before most House Democrats left the state of Texas.

Congressman Welch’s most recent financial disclosure (published in full, below) reveals on March 15th, 2019 he purchased shares of a value up to $15,000 in two exchange-traded funds (ETF): KraneShares Bosera MSCI China A ETF and KraneShares CSI China Internet ETF.

The 2020 disclosure also reveals he received dividends from both funds.

The KraneShares MSCI ETF is “co-managed by Bosera Asset Management,” a Chinese Communist Party-linked investment firm that manages part of the country’s National Social Security Fund. At the time of publication, the fund’s primary investments include state-owned companies such Kweichow Moutai and Wuliangye Yibin. Competitors to American companies, such as China’s top electric vehicle battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (​CATL), also make up the ETF.

Companies comprising Welch’s other Chinese government-linked investment – KraneShares CSI ETF – include Chinese social media and technology platforms that routinely censor users on behalf of the Chinese Communist Party. Tencent, which has been flagged by the U.S. State Department as a “tool of the Chinese government,” accounts for the largest investment of the fund.

1619 Founder Believes America Should Follow Cuban Path.

1619 Project founder Nikole Hannah-Jones claimed that “largely due to socialism” Cuba had the “least inequality between black and white people” while speaking on a Vox podcast in 2019.

Joining host Ezra Klein – who has taken trips sponsored by Chinese Communist Party-linked group in exchange for “favorable coverage” of the regime – on his podcast “Conversations,” Jones asserts that Cuba should be a role model to America for integrating schools.

“Are there candidates right now or even just places that you think have a viable and sufficiently ambitious integration agenda, and if so, what is it,” Klein asks Jones, prompting her to laugh.

After admitting she’s “definitely not an expert on race relations internationally,” she posits that “if you want to see the most equal, multiracial democ… it’s not a democracy – the most equal, multi-racial country in our hemisphere it would be Cuba.”

She attributes the alleged absence of inequality to socialism:

Cuba has the least inequality between black and white people of any place really in the hemisphere. I mean the Caribbean – most of the Caribbean it’s hard to count because the white population in a lot of those countries is very, very small, they’re countries run by black folks, but in places that are truly at least biracial countries, Cuba actually has the least inequality, and that’s largely due to socialism, which I’m sure no one wants to hear.

The unearthed podcast follows The National Pulse revealing Jones authoring an op-ed praising Cuba and the role of education as “the cornerstone of the revolution.”

“It manifests in what Cuba has accomplished, through socialism and despite poverty, that the United States hasn’t,” she writes before identifying an advantage of the communist revolution as bringing about the “end of codified racism.”

California judge rules shooting victims can sue Smith & Wesson

Plaintiffs alleged the gunmaker used misleading marketing to attract 'impulsive young men with military complexes,' leading to a 2019 synagogue shooting

A San Diego judge ruled last week that the victims of a 2019 shooting in a California synagogue can sue Smith & Wesson, the gun manufacturer that made the weapon used in the assault, for damages.

Judge Kenneth Medel of the Superior Court for San Diego Countyrejected an argument made by Smith & Wesson claiming lawsuits are prohibited under the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), Reuters reported.

The federal law is meant to provide protection to firearms manufacturers and retailers when their products are used in criminal activity. But in their June 2020 lawsuit, the plaintiffs argued that Smith & Wesson shouldn't be shielded by the regulation because it broke state law by designing the M&P15 rifle to be easily modified into an "assault weapon."

In his ruling, Medel agreed that the gunmaker's alleged misleading marketing violated California's unfair competition law.

According to Reuters, plaintiffs argued the company used marketing "that attracted impulsive young men with military complexes who were particularly likely to be attracted to the unique ability of AR-15 style weapons."

Plaintiffs noted the "M&P" in the name stands for "military and police," but argued the gun was largely sold to civilians, including the alleged shooter, then 19-year-old John Earnest.

Last month, Earnest, now 21, signed a conditional plea agreement that is now in the hands of U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Earnest is accused of opening fire in a synagogue in Poway, California, in April 2019, killing one person and wounding three others. There were reportedly 54 people in the synagogue at the time of the shooting.

Earnest may still face the federal death penalty for his crimes, but plaintiffs in the Smith & Wesson case want punishment for his crimes to extend to the gun industry, as well.

"Today's judgment is a victory, and an important step on the road to justice for the victims of the shooting at Chabad of Poway Synagogue, and all Americans who believe that the gun industry is not above the law," said Jonathan Lowy, a lawyer for the plaintiffs, in a statement. "We look forward to proving our case in court, and working to prevent future tragedies."

The lawsuit reportedly seeks unspecified damages in addition to an injunction against Smith & Wesson requiring the gunmaker to cease its allegedly deceptive marketing campaigns.

David Cameron Was Paid More Than $1 Million To Lobby For Greensill Before Collapse

After months of reporting on Greensill Capital's close ties to high-ranking Conservative politicians in the UK (who tried to hook the failing company up with government-backed COVID-relief loans that were supposed to go to small businesses) the FT revealed on Tuesday that former British PM David Cameron - who has seen his reputation sullied by the business paper's reporting - was paid a salary of more than $1MM a year by the firm during his stint as a senior advisor.

Cameron received generous compensation for what was supposed to be a 'part-time' advisory role. He was hired to work 25 days a year as an advisor to the company's board and earned the equivalent of $40K per day. The FT described the lobbying scandal that has befallen Cameron as "one of the biggest" to afflict Westminster in a generation.

And remember, this isn't the first time that Cameron and his family's wealth have been dragged into the spotlight. He endured plenty of embarrassing headlines following the Panama Papers leaks.

As the virus spread last spring, Cameron lobbied top officials in Boris Johnson's government on at least 56 documented occasions in an attempt to secure government money for Greensill.

The collapse of the firm's trade-financing business, which was being used as a slush fund to obscure the true debt exposure of certain SoftBank-backed companies, forced Credit Suisse to freeze $10 billion in trade-finance funds that had been marketed as low-risk investments to some of the bank's most elite customers (sound familiar?).

What's more, when Greensill eventually won access to a coronavirus lending scheme for large businesses, it passed on its full £400MM allowance of taxpayer-backed loans to companies linked to Sanjeev Gupta, a top Greensill client whose metals business is now facing an investigation into fraud.

Cameron's salary made him one of the most well-compensated figures at Greensill. Yet, he insists that his lobbying for the firm wasn't motivated by financial gain.

US Cracks Down On China Abuse, Warns American Firms Face Legal Risks Using Forced-Labor Suppliers

In the latest escalation of tensions between the U.S. and China, the U.S. Department of State, Department of the Treasury, Department of Commerce, and the Department of Homeland Security issued a supply chain advisory, warning U.S. companies operating or doing business in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region (Xinjiang) and elsewhere in China to abandon those supply chains or face consequences.

The advisory comes as the US has been an outspoken critic of the Chinese using forced labor, such as the Uyghurs, ethnic Kazakhs, ethnic Kyrgyz, and other Muslim minority groups, in factories in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and other manufacturing hubs.

The advisory highlights three main types of supply chain exposure to entities involved in human rights abuses presented in this advisory are:

Assisting in developing surveillance tools for the P.R.C. government in Xinjiang;

Relying on labor or goods sourced in Xinjiang, or from factories elsewhere in China implicated in the forced labor of individuals from Xinjiang in their supply chains, given the prevalence of forced labor and other labor abuses in the region; and

Aiding in the construction of internment facilities used to detain Uyghurs and members of other Muslim minority groups, and/or in the construction of manufacturing facilities that are in close proximity to camps operated by businesses accepting subsidies from the P.R.C. government to subject minority groups to forced labor.

It also said, "businesses with potential exposure in their supply chain to entities that engage in human rights abuses in Xinjiang or to facilities outside Xinjiang that use forced labor from Xinjiang in the manufacture of goods intended for domestic and international distribution should be aware of the reputational, economic, and legal risks of involvement with such entities."

The advisory said for companies to "mitigate reputational and other risks," they should complete immediate due diligence policies and procedures to make sure their supply chains in China don't include forced labor.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken commented on the advisory via a tweet that read, "This will help U.S. businesses take steps to ensure their supply chains are not tainted by forced labor or other human rights abuses."

Over 160 unmarked graves found on island where infamous residential school branded ‘Canada’s Alcatraz’ stood – indigenous group

In the fourth such discovery in recent months, a Canadian indigenous group has said it has found over 160 “undocumented and unmarked” graves on Penelakut Island, which once housed a residential school dubbed ‘Canada’s Alcatraz’.

Representatives of the Penelakut tribe confirmed that the graves had been found on the “grounds and foreshore” of the territory, previously known as Kuper Island, located in the strait of Georgia between Vancouver Island and the western province of British Columbia on the mainland.

In a statement to “neighboring tribes and organizations” on July 8, the tribe’s Chief Joan Brown and other officials noted with a “tremendous amount of grief and loss” that “too many” of “our brothers and sisters from our neighboring communities” who attended the Kuper Island Industrial School “did not return home.”

Stating that it was “impossible to get over acts of genocide and human rights violations,” the Penelakut representatives said, “We are at another point in time where we must face the trauma because of these acts of genocide. Each time we do, it is possible to heal a little more.”

“Healing is an ongoing process. Sometimes it goes well, and sometimes we lose more people because the burden is too great,” the statement read.

France slaps Google with ‘biggest fine ever’ of €500 million for failing to comply with copyright rules

US internet giant Google is facing its largest fine ever, €500 million euros from the French competition authority, which has ruled that the company had not respected the copyright rules surrounding licensing fees.

The country’s competition authority hit Google with the half-a-billion-euro fine on Tuesday for its failure to comply “in good faith” with media outlets under a European Union copyright rule granting “neighboring rights.” As well as issuing the body’s “biggest ever fine” to date, the watchdog has also given Google an ultimatum: either publishers are given “remuneration for the current use of their copyrighted content,” or Google must pay up to €900,000 a day.

The EU’s “neighboring rights” rule was extended to publishers to ensure that news agencies would be protected by copyright and receive payment for having their articles and photos used by online service providers.

The US company expressed upset at the French authority’s decision in a statement: “We have acted in good faith during the entire negotiation period. This fine does not reflect the efforts put in place, nor the reality of the use of news content on our platform.”

The battle between Google and French publishers, including Agence France-Presse, has been going on since early 2020. Despite Google claiming that it has acted appropriately, French publishers insist that the company has used copyrighted articles and images without fairly paying the original authors under the EU “neighboring rights” rule.

In February, Google was forced to pay out $76 million dollars to 121 French news outlets, with $22 million to be paid annually over three years.

Just last month Google was fined €220 million for misusing its position as a major search engine to generate more revenue, undermining smaller competitors through its algorithm system.

Only a few other countries in Europe aside from France have rolled out the EU’s rule on copyright, with publishers from countries that have implemented the law being able to demand payment for having their content displayed online.

More than 5,500 alleged sex abuse victims of Los Angeles gynecologist to share $73 million payout

A US court has approved the settlement of a class action suit ordering a multimillion-dollar payment to women allegedly abused by the same gynecologist. The doctor is accused of having taken advantage of more than 5,500 patients.

Dr. James Heaps, 64, worked at several medical centers at the University of California (UCLA) in Los Angeles for decades and, until his retirement in 2018 when management declined to renew his contract, the gynecologist had allegedly sexually abused women during appointments.

Heaps is accused of groping patients, making inappropriate comments during examinations, simulating sexual intercourse during vaginal ultrasound procedures and undressing women without consent. Victims also said he made overly frequent appointments for some of them to create additional opportunities for abuse, CBSN Los Angeles reported.

The abuse dates back to 1983, allegations suggest, and Heaps’ employer UCLA has been accused by women of not taking any action following numerous complaints from patients, failing to protect them and enabling more abuse.

Even after a formal investigation into the doctor’s alleged misconduct was launched at the university, he was reportedly allowed to carry on with appointments.

Following Heaps’ arrest in 2019, more women came forward to report alleged sexual harassment. According to the settlement that was given final approval by a federal judge this week, all potential victims will be paid an automatic compensation from UCLA of $2,500 each. Those who come forward with further specific claims of abuse can seek up to $250,000.

In a separate criminal case, the doctor, who denies any wrongdoing, is facing 21 counts of abuse by seven women. If convicted on all charges, he faces more than 67 years in prison.

“While we can’t comment on the specifics of today’s legal action, we can say unequivocally that sexual misconduct or abuse is inexcusable,” UCLA Health said in a statement on Monday. The university also earlier made changes in gynecologist appointments’ procedures at its clinics, providing supervision of a trained chaperone during intimate physical examinations of patients, unless they opt out.

Texas Democrats to Lock State House Voting Machines

Texas Democrats demanded Tuesday for the Texas House journal clerk to lock the state house voting machines, thereby denying the GOP majority a quorum needed to proceed with election integrity legislation.

Chair of the Texas House Democrat Caucus and State Rep. Chris Turner (D) stated, “Minutes ago, at least 57 letters were delivered to the house journal clerk directing the [Texas] House to lock our voting machines and not unlock them until we provide express permission to do so upon our return to the [Texas] capitol.”

“It takes two-thirds of the body present to constitute a quorum, so 100 members,” Turner said, “and we vote in Texas and we register our attendance by use of voting machines on our desks.”

Texas House member Rafael Anchía (D) also spoke at the event, saying election integrity initiatives would be buckling “to the big lie.”

“We’re not doing this for Democrats. We’re not doing this for Republicans. We’re doing this for North & South Texans, Eastern & West Texans. And, we are not going to buckle to the big lie in the state of Texas,” he said.

Joe Biden Lifts Sanctions on Venezuela, Giving Cuba a Lifeline

The U.S. Department of the Treasury on Monday lifted sanctions on the export of gas to socialist Venezuela, a boon to the dictatorship in Caracas and its patron government in communist Cuba, which struggles to suppress mounting opposition and calls for the regime’s total abolition.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued a general license number 40, permitting “all transactions and activities related to the exportation or reexportation, directly or indirectly, of liquefied petroleum gas to Venezuela” as well as the socialist regime’s state-owned affiliates, specifically rescinding restrictions that then-President Donald Trump imposed via three executive orders in 2018 and 2019. The license remains valid through July 8, 2022.

Petróleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA), the state-owned company managing the nation’s (and some of the world’s) largest oil reserves, fell under socialist control in 1998, when Hugo Chávez nationalized the entity. With socialist cronies in charge, Venezuela’s oil production began to decline at a rapid rate, falling to levels not seen since 1947 by mid-2020. Despite abundant supply, the mismanagement is so great the nation routinely experiences severe gasoline shortages.

OFAC left intact sanctions on individual Venezuelan government officials, many of whom allegedly maintain ties with drug cartels, human trafficking organizations, or terrorist cells. Television star Diosdado Cabello, the first vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela PSUV) and Maduro’s second-in-command, has for years been identified as a major figure in the international drug trade, with informants naming him as the leader of the Cartel de los Soles. The group, run out of the Venezuelan military, operates an international cocaine ring.

Formerly the richest nation in Latin America – following the decline of previously richest nation Cuba under communism – due to its vast oil reserves, years of socialist mismanagement have driven the Venezuelan economy into the ground. Inflation in particular has annihilated citizens’ personal wealth and forced a majority of Venezuelans to eschew the local currency in favor of foreign bills will stable value.

A 2020 study revealed that a majority of transactions in Venezuela occurred using the U.S. dollar as a medium. The economy has deteriorated to the extent that citizens have resorted to scavenging food from street trash to avoid starvation. In lieu of stable healthcare infrastructure, Venezuelans have had to improvise means of tending to their sick and injured, with one viral video depicting locals using the back of a garbage truck as an ambulance.

Democrats Fundraise Off Fleeing Texas to Protest Election Integrity

Democrats are fundraising off their Texas lawmakers’ move to flee the state for Washington, D.C., on Monday in protest, forgoing their duties as legislators to deny Republicans a quorum to pass election integrity legislation.

“We’ve now raised $142,000 to support the Texas Democrats putting it all on the line to save democracy,” failed Texas senate candidate and former Democrat presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke said Monday evening after referring to the lawmakers as “courageous public servants.”

Macron: Vaccine Passports Will Be Mandatory for Restaurants, Bars, Transport in France

Vaccine passports for bars, restaurants, and public transport will become mandatory in France starting next month, President Emmanuel Macron announced in a national address on Monday evening.

Mr Macron said that it will be necessary to curtail the freedoms of the unvaccinated in France to supposedly slow the spread of the so-called Delta (Indian) variant of the Chinese coronavirus.

“Our choice is simple: to put the restrictions on the unvaccinated rather than on all. This is the meaning of the health pass that will be extended,” the French president announced.

The draconian restrictions will mean that citizens of France will either have to scan in via QR code or present a document proving that they have either been fully vaccinated or have recovered from the Wuhan virus to enter businesses such as restaurants, bars, cinemas, theatres, and shopping centres as well as to use public transport by early August.

Depending on the evolution of the situation, we will ask ourselves the question of the extension of the health pass to other activities,” Macron added.

Starting from July 21st, anyone over the age of 12 in France will have to present a “health pass” to attend concerts, festivals, shows, or to enter amusement parks.

Mr Macron has also announced that starting on September 15th, healthcare workers and volunteers at care homes will be required to be vaccinated. He said that vaccination is a “matter of individual responsibility… but also a matter of our freedom.”

Clarifying the position, French Health Minister Olivier Véran said that those healthcare workers who fail to get vaccinated by the September deadline “will no longer be able to work and will no longer be paid”.

Alongside the other measures, curfews have been reinstated in the French territories of Martinique and Reunion Island.

The scare tactics of the speech may have achieved the government’s goal of increasing vaccinations, as the French online vaccination portal Doctolib.fr crashed as a result of increased search traffic following Macron’s speech.

The announcement from Macron came as British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was announcing that all legal lockdown restrictions would be lifted in England starting from next week.

In France, approximately 40 per cent of the adult population has been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, with 53.1 per cent having had at least one jab. This is compared to around 60 per cent in the UK who have had two jabs and 87 per cent having had at least one dose of the vaccine.

While the UK and the U.S. have been pushing towards loosening restrictions, countries across the European continent have been increasingly implementing draconian health state regulations in order to force people into taking the vaccine.

In Greece, for example, the government announced last month that it would allow businesses to open fully as long as they only catered to people who have been vaccinated.

The discriminatory practice may extend to Italy, where the government is reportedly considering Chinese social credit-style restrictions on travel, forcing trains to give preferential treatment to the vaccinated.

The socialist government of Spain has also announced that it would be reimposing curfews in Catalonia and Valencia amid rising cases among younger people.

‘Checkpoint Society’: Boris Pressures Venues to Adopt Vaccine Passports as a Matter of ‘Social Responsibility’

Privacy campaigners have condemned as the makings of a “checkpoint society” calls by Prime Minister Boris Johnson for large venues to adopt entry by vaccine passport only “as a matter of responsibility”.

Announcing last night that the end of legal restrictions will come on Monday, Prime Minister Johnson nevertheless said that he and the government “expect and recommend that people wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where you come into contact with those you don’t normally meet, such as on public transport”.

Johnson also pressured venues to adopt an NHS-enabled domestic vaccine passport, thus denying service to those without it, saying: “And as a matter of social responsibility we’re urging nightclubs and other venues with large crowds to make use of the NHS Covid Pass – which shows proof of vaccination, a recent negative test or natural immunity – as a means of entry.”

Civil liberties and privacy pressure group Big Brother Watch condemned the prime minister calling for vaccine passports, pledging to “name, shame, and boycott companies that demand divisive and discriminatory Covid Passes.”

“A checkpoint society will not make us any safer,” the group added.

Hungarian Speaker: Totalitarian Liberalism Successor of ‘Nazis and Communists’, Will ‘Destroy Europe’

The Hungarian Parliament’s speaker has spoken out against the “new totalitarian ambition” of liberalism in the European Union, saying he would not vote to join the bloc today.

László Kövér, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary, said that he “did not vote yes with a good heart” during the Hungarian referendum on joining the EU in 2003, but judged that, all things considered, membership would strengthen the country’s finances and provide it with an international platform to assert its national interests.

He told Kossuth Rádió that “if there were a referendum now, I would most certainly vote no” to joining — but was clear that, with Hungary already being an EU member-state, he does not favour pulling out, as the United Kingdom has done.

Earlier this month, he had said that “Hungary will remain a member of the EU until [it] collapses”– predicting that this would happen within a generation, as Brussels is “on a trajectory that is economically, socially, spiritually and morally unsustainable”.

Kövér elaborated on this theme in his recent comments to Kossuth Rádió, telling the broadcaster that “after Nazis and Communists, a new totalitarian ambition is about to destroy Europe, sometimes called Liberalism, post-Humanism or whatever… green folly.”

Hungary, along with countries with similarly national conservative-minded governments in the EU, such as Poland, has clashed with the Brussels establishment over the migrant crisis and the EU’s attempts to enforce compulsory migrant redistribution in recent years, as well as Hungary’s efforts to make non-governmental organisations (NGOs) be more transparent about their sources of foreign funding, among other things.

Hostilities have been greatly stepped up in recent days by the Hungarian parliament’s passage of a package of anti-paedophile laws, which include restrictions on LGBT content in schools and media content aimed at children — with Prime Minister Viktor insisting that “education in schools must not be in conflict with the will of parents” and that “parents also rightly expect that on platforms used by our children, pornography, sexuality for its own sake, homosexuality and gender reassignment programs should not be available.”

This has led the Netherlands’ left-wing prime minister, Mark Rutte, to call on the EU to “force Hungary to its knees regarding this issue”, and to the European Parliament alleging that the legislation is a “threat to democracy and fundamental rights.”

Hungary has maintained a combative posture so far, with the government pointing out that a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) who has been leading the charge against them on the new laws has a conviction for distributing gay revenge porn.

Speaker Kövér, for his part, slammed “uppity [European] politicians rubbing in our faces that we would not be accepted into the EU today because of our so-called rule-of-law issues and values and views,” and that the “rage [the laws have] brought up in western European politicians is irrational”.

CDC Migrant Removal Order at Border to End in July

A law enforcement source within Customs and Border Protection advised that a target date to end the expulsion of migrants to Mexico under Title 42 is set for July 18. In addition, plans have been put in motion to deploy more than 200 ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations Officers to multiple South Texas detention facilities to cope with the expected increase in asylum applications.

The holdover Trump CDC order permits the immediate expulsion of migrants who enter the United States illegally to Mexico and prohibits any application for asylum due to the pandemic. Although still in effect, the applicability of the order on certain migrants has been reduced under the Biden Administration.

Unaccompanied migrant children were eliminated from the order soon after President Joe Biden took office, which caused a spike in entries in that cohort. This fiscal year, which began in October, nearly 80,000 unaccompanied migrant children have been apprehended, more than double the FY2020 record.

Currently, only single adult migrants and some family units with children above tender age are expelled to Mexico under Title 42 if they originate from Mexico or the Central American Northern Triangle.

As of May 2021, nearly 650,000 migrants were expelled this fiscal year under the CDC order. Nearly half of those entered through the Del Rio, Laredo, and the Rio Grande Valley Sectors of Texas. The ICE ERO deployment of personnel to detention facilities will assist in speedy processing of the expected surge in asylum applicants, according to the source.

Migrant shelters across South Texas are operating at full capacity due to the current surge and are likely to quickly become overwhelmed if Title 42 is ended. This is not the first time, according to the source, that DHS announced a projected end to the program through internal communications.

According to the source, a similar plan was circulated to CBP managers in February. That date was ultimately pushed back. The administration is facing pressure to also end the non-essential travel ban on non-immigrant visitors and tourists—which would certainly expire if the emergency CDC order is lifted.

In October 2020, the FBI announced during a press conference that it thwarted a plot by a so-called “right-wing militia” to kidnap and kill Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and overthrow the state government.

The FBI became aware of the plot through discussions on social media in early 2020, however they decided to pull the trigger in October, right before the presidential election, and raid the homes of 6 men.

One of the men arrested in the plot was a Trump-hating anarchist and another was a Black Lives Matter activist, but then-candidate Joe Biden and the media still blamed Trump.

It was previously reported that the ring leader in the plot to kidnap Whitmer was an FBI informant.

He was planted into the group and was the one who pushed the entire plan.

Now it turns out that the FBI used at least 12 informants in this kidnapping case.

So basically the entire plot was cooked up and executed by FBI informants and a few unsuspecting patsies were dragged into the scheme.

New Texas Law 'Deputizes' Citizens to Sue Abortion Doctors, Clinics: 'Flood of Lawsuits' Coming

A Texas pro-life law set to take effect in September is receiving nationwide attention for its unique approach to stopping abortion: It allows citizens to sue abortion doctors and clinics.

The law, known as Senate Bill 8, was signed by Gov. Greg Abbott in May and prohibits abortions after a fetal heartbeat is detected, which is around six weeks of pregnancy. Although other states have passed similar bills, the Texas law is unique in that it allows private citizens to enforce the law through civil lawsuits.

The New York Times spotlighted the law in a July 9 story and quoted a Planned Parenthood lawyer as saying there could be “a flood of suits across Texas’ 254 counties.”

“It’s completely inverting the legal system,” said Stephen Vladeck, a constitutional law professor at the University of Texas at Austin, told the New York Times. “It says the state is not going to be the one to enforce this law. Your neighbors are.”

The text of the law says “any person” other than “an officer or employee of a state or local governmental entity” may “bring a civil action against any person who … performs or induces an abortion in violation” of the law. The suit would involve lawsuits in state courts, not federal courts. Those who sue and win would be awarded at least $10,000 for each illegal abortion.

Abortion clinics “are stuck in state court in a defensive posture, and there’s a lot at stake,” Howard M. Wasserman, a law professor at Florida International University, told the newspaper. “If they lose, they are on the hook for significant sums of money.”

The law is difficult to challenge, The Times said, because it’s “hard to know whom to sue to block it.” The law “effectively deputizes ordinary citizens,” The Times said.

“If the barista at Starbucks overhears you talking about your abortion, and it was performed after six weeks, that barista is authorized to sue the clinic where you obtained the abortion and to sue any other person who helped you, like the Uber driver who took you there,” Melissa Murray, a law professor at New York University, told The Times.

Denny Burk, director of the Center for Gospel and Culture at Boyce College in Louisville, Ky., said pro-lifers nationwide “need to pay attention” to the new law’s impact.

“On this side of abolishing Roe,” Burk tweeted, “this may be the ‘legal hack’ that could put an end to almost all abortions.”

Number of deaths reported after COVID vaccines jumps by more than 2,000 in 1 week, according to VAERS

VAERS data released today by the CDC showed a total of 438,441 reports of adverse events from all age groups following COVID vaccines, including 9,048 deaths and 41,015 serious injuries between Dec. 14, 2020 and July 2, 2021.

Data released today by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) included 9,049 reports of deaths, across all age groups, following COVID vaccines — an increase of more than 2,000 compared with the previous week. The data comes directly from reports submitted to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).

VAERS is the primary government-funded system for reporting adverse vaccine reactions in the U.S. Reports submitted to VAERS require further investigation before a causal relationship can be confirmed.

Every Friday, VAERS makes public all vaccine injury reports received as of a specified date, usually about a week prior to the release date.

Data released today show that between Dec. 14, 2020 and July 2, 2021, a total of 438,441 total adverse events were reported to VAERS, including 9,048 deaths — an increase of 2,063 over the previous week. There were 41,015 serious injuries reported during the same time period — up 6,950 compared with last week.

In the U.S, 328.9 million COVID vaccine doses had been administered as of July 2. This includes: 134 million doses of Moderna’s vaccine, 182 million doses of Pfizer and 13 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID vaccine.

Of the 9,048 deaths reported as of July 2, 22% occurred within 48 hours of vaccination, 15% occurred within 24 hours and 37% occurred in people who became ill within 48 hours of being vaccinated.

This week’s data for 12- to 17-year-olds show:

13,385 total adverse events, including 801 rated as serious and 9 reported deaths among 12- to 17-year-olds. Two of the nine deaths were suicides.

The most recent reported death includes a 13-year-old boy (VAERS I.D. 1431289) with a previous history of COVID who suffered cardiac arrest and died 17 days after vaccination with Pfizer. Other reports include a 13-year-old boy (VAERS I.D. 1406840) who died two days after receiving a Pfizer vaccine, three 15-year-olds (VAERS I.D. 1187918, 1382906 and 1242573), four 16-year-olds (VAERS I.D. 1420630, 1426828, 1225942 and 1386841) and three 17-year-olds (VAERS I.D. 1199455, 1388042 and 1420762).

White House Backs Teachers Unions, CRT Curricula

The Biden administration signaled its support for the teaching of “anti-racism” curriculum in public schools Friday, wading into an ongoing culture war over critical race theory playing out on cable news and in school board meetings across the nation.

Asked about a recent decision by the National Education Association to throw its weight behind controversial progressive teachings about race, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told RealClearPolitics that President Biden believes “kids should learn about our history” including the view that "there is systemic racism that is still impacting society today."

Psaki continued that the president and the First Lady, who is also a life-long educator, believe that “there are many dark moments, and there is not just slavery and racism in our history.”

“And he believes, as I believe, as a parent of children, that kids should learn about our history. So as a spouse of an educator,” the press secretary added, “he continues to believe that children should learn not just the good, but also the challenging parts of our history, and that's part of what we're talking about here, even as it's become politically charged.”

Almost underscoring Psaki’s point that the issue has become politically charged, an account run by the House Republicans responded on Twitter, “critical race theory is NOT history. It’s an ideological agenda meant to divide us.”

The press secretary’s answer was the clearest expression to date of where the White House comes down in a larger ideological battle over the soul of the nation. Progressives who espouse critical race theory argue that white people should own up to the benefits afforded to them by the systemic racism woven into the fabric of this country’s past and present. Conservatives reject that characterization. While agreeing that schoolchildren should learn about slavery and racism, they say that the current approach being pushed by progressive educators goes too far.

Top US General in Afghanistan Hands Command to CENTCOM

CENTCOM now has the authority to carry out airstrikes in Afghanistan

Gen. Scott Miller, who served as the top US commander in Afghanistan since 2018, transferred his authorities on Monday to Gen. Frank McKenzie, the head of US Central Command (CENTCOM).

McKenzie now has the authority to bomb Afghanistan. Future airstrikes in the country will be launched from outside Afghanistan, either from bases or aircraft carriers in the Gulf region, what the Pentagon calls “over the horizon capabilities.”

The transfer of authority is part of the US withdrawal that President Biden said will be completed by August 31st, although the US plans to keep a troop presence at its embassy and at the international airport in Kabul.

The Pentagon has established an embassy-based military command structure called Forces Afghanistan-Forward that will be headed by Navy Rear Admiral Peter Vasely. The embassy command will be supported by a new Afghanistan-focused office based in Qatar.

The handover ceremony took place at the former headquarters for the NATO mission in Afghanistan. The headquarters are now part of the US embassy complex, which is a sprawling 36-acre facility. Most NATO countries have pulled all of their troops out of Afghanistan. According to Stars and Stripes, the only flags flying during Monday’s ceremony were that of the US, the UK, and Turkey.

Turkey is playing a vital role in Washington’s post-withdrawal plans. The US and Turkey worked out a deal that will leave Turkish troops in Afghanistan to secure the Kabul airport. The Taliban opposes a continued Turkish presence since the Doha agreement called for all foreign troops to leave the country.

The US has designated Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) as a terrorist organization. However, US missiles appear on the front line in Syria being used by the same group designated as terrorist organisation.

These TOW weapon systems were delivered by Raytheon Company to the US Marine Corps under a $1.4 billion contract (2012-2019).Part of them were later shipped to Syria.

While the US State Department has listed Hayat Tahrir al-Sham leader Abu Mohammad al-Julani as a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist” and announced a $10 million reward for information leading to his capture, the Jolani terrorist group has been well equipped with US-made missiles in Syria. A number of confidential leaks over the last years have already exposed the leading role of the US in arming militants in Syria.

According to the US Federal Procurement Data System, the eight companies have already received orders with an estimated value of $25 million each or $200 million combined under the 5 year-long Pentagon program for non-US standard weapons supplies. Inflation Data Released Today Shows White House July 4th Price Claims Were Total Crap, Gas Prices Doubled, Annualized Total Inflation Rises to 5.4 Percent and Climbing

On July 4th, a little more than a week ago, the White House made the preposterous claim that holiday food was cheaper than last year. Everyone who buys groceries knew that level of propaganda was unmitigated nonsense and the consumer pricing data released today shows exactly that.

According to the BLS June prices jumped .09%. Every month this year the CPI has been rising faster than the prior month, which essentially means inflation is rising at an ever-increasing rate. Annualized inflation (June 2020 -vs- June 2021) now shows an overall inflation rate of 5.4%.

However, at a .09% monthly rate -if the level stabilizes- that means the real inflation rate is 10.8% Yeah, that’s a serious problem.

The BLS data (see table 7) shows that gasoline has doubled in price year-over-year. Unleaded regular gasoline is now 46.4% higher than last year. That level of fuel price increase is crushing the working class and blue collar workforce.

Inflation overall is currently rising three to four times faster than wages. That means real wages are dropping as Americans are paying more for everything, including fast turn consumable products like food and fuel. Again, we repeat… durable good sales will suffer as disposable income shrinks. Additionally, rising housing prices combined with diminishing blue collar wages is an unsustainable trend.

Report: How Dirty Money Enters UK Politics

The United Kingdom has long been known as a hotspot for hiding dirty money, and London has even been dubbed the money laundering capital of the world. A new report issued last week has now detailed how legal loopholes allow for money from foreign sources to fund British politics and influence elections.

The report released by the Committee on Standards in Public Life, an independent advisory body to the U.K. government, was triggered by concerns over the increased digital campaigning and its potential to hamper campaign finance tracking.

The committee consulted candidates and officers from various political parties, as well as experts and academics, in hopes of understanding how to revise regulations and campaign finance laws.

The committee’s chair, Lord Evans of Weardale, connected the rise of digital campaigning with the rise of secret funds, saying digital donations are “harder to track how much is being spent, on what, where and by whom.”

The report warns, in particular, about unincorporated associations, which aren’t recorded on the government’s register, Companies House, but still donate money to campaigns anonymously online. This untraceable way of contributing to campaigns allows dirty and foreign money to flow through politics, the report said.

“You don’t know who has given money to them but they can then contribute to campaign funds,” Lord Evans, the former head of MI5, said about unincorporated groups.

In order to limit the amount of foreign money in elections and increase transparency of electoral funding, the report made a series of suggestions, including only allowing political donations from money made in the U.K. and raising fines for violating electoral law to 500,000 pounds (around US$690,000). The report also recommends a way to prompt quicker crackdown on sketchy transactions by enforcing a time limit on investigations by the Electoral Commission.

The government hasn’t said which recommendations, if any, will be implemented. In the meantime, independent organizations have lauded the report.

“There is a clear and growing consensus that the current rules controlling the money in British politics are out-of-date and in need of urgent reform,” said Daniel Bruce, chief executive of Transparency International UK.

“Rules alone are not sufficient to also tackle the corrupting influence of money in UK politics,” he added.

Mother-son duo held for running illegal organ trade racket in Assam's Morigaon

A mother-son duo and their accomplice involved in an illegal kidney trade racket have been arrested in Assam. The accused used to lure poor villagers with a promise of paying Rs 4-5 lakh if they donated their kidney.

The Assam Police has busted an illegal human organ trade racket in Morigaon district and arrested three persons, including a mother-son duo, in connection with the case.

The arrested woman and her accomplices were running an illegal kidney trade at Dakshin Dharamtul village in Central Assam’s Morigaon district. They lured poor villagers with a promise of paying Rs 4-5 lakh if they donated their kidney to some sick people and organisations.

The racket came to light after some village locals caught the woman and her son when they visited the village on Saturday in search of prospective kidney sellers. The villagers later handed them to the police.

As many as 20 people of the village are believed to have sold off a kidney each.

The arrested woman agent has been identified as Lilimai Bodo, a resident of Guwahati. The police have arrested Bodo, her son, and their accomplice, Ramen Medhi.

Morigaon district Superintendent of Police (SP) Aparna Natarajan said, "A case (no 432/21) has been registered at Jagiroad police station under human trafficking sections. The woman is currently under police custody. Our investigation is on. We are trying to trace the local agents of the racket. We have shared some details with the state authorisation committee for organ transplantation which is the competent authority to approve any kind of organ transplantation."

Plane Crashes Into Home In Monterey County, California

A plane crashed into a home near the Monterey Regional Airport Tuesday afternoon. The scene is near Highway 68 in the Monterra Ranch neighborhood.
