Judicial Watch: New VA Records Document COVID-19 Vaccine Adverse Reaction Reports among Veterans; Agency Withholds Detailed Reports; CRT Wording in Vaccine Plan

(Washington, DC) Judicial Watch announced today that it received 75 pages of records from the Department of Veterans Affairs detailing the adverse reactions veterans had to the COVID-19 vaccines. As of April 2021, Veteran’s Health Services reported 895 serious reactions which included: 20 cardiac arrests, 36 strokes, 15 cases of deep vein thrombosis, 10 heart attacks, and 19 pulmonary embolisms. They also reported over 26,000 less serious reactions. The agency withheld individual report details, citing alleged privacy and related issues.

Additionally, the documents included a section focused entirely on race titled “Addressing health inequities.”

The documents were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request on April 14, 2021, for:

All reports related to any adverse reaction to any COVID-19 vaccine administered at any Department of Veterans Affairs medical facility. This request includes, but is not limited to, any such reports transmitted to the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System (VAERS).

All policies, regulations, or other guidance documents regarding the reporting and/or tracking of adverse reactions to COVID-19 vaccines.

A document titled “Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting” includes multiple charts documenting what the VA describes as serious and non-serious reactions to the COVID-19 vaccine. There have been 895 reports of serious events. These events include “Events where Death, hospitalization, and/or Life-Threatening Event is marked as an outcome.” There were 24,585 non-serious events. A total of 20 cardiac arrests, 36 strokes, 15 cases of deep vein thrombosis, 10 heart attacks, and 19 pulmonary embolisms were reported for employees and veterans who took one of the three vaccines.

Johnson & Johnson vaccine adverse event reports include five cerebrovascular accidents, four cases of deep vein thrombosis and three pulmonary embolisms for veteran patients.

Moderna vaccine adverse event reports include 15 cardiac arrests, 16 cerebrovascular accidents, five cases of deep vein thrombosis, five myocardial infarctions and seven pulmonary embolisms for veteran patients. Employees who took the vaccine reportedly suffered five cerebrovascular accidents, four cases of deep vein thrombosis, two myocardial infarctions and two pulmonary embolisms.

Pfizer vaccine adverse event reports include five cardiac arrests, 10 cerebrovascular accidents, one case of deep vein thrombosis, three myocardial infarctions and seven pulmonary embolisms for veteran patients. There was one case of deep vein thrombosis in an employee.

A section titled “Addressing health inequities” reports that the COVID vaccine allocation was prioritized to persons of color, in part, because of “social injustices:”

Drug-overdose deaths in the U.S. rose by nearly 30% in 2020, synthetic opioids primarily to blame

An increased supply of exceedingly deadly synthetic drugs coupled with pandemic side-effects drove the overdose rate to levels that alarmed experts.

Deaths due to drug-overdoses in the United States increased nearly 30% during 2020, a spike largely attributed to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic combined with an increasingly deadly drug supply.

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, based on newly released data from the federal government and health officials, an estimated 93,331 Americans died from drug overdoses last year. That figure is a significant just from the estimated 72,151 who passed in 2019.

The rising number was driven primarily by an uptick in the supply of fentanyl, a powerful and often deadly synthetic opioid – 50 times more potent than heroin – that has became a major threat to some American communities.

The emotional devastation, anxiety, inability to access care, and solitude brought about by the pandemic pushed the already rising number of overdoses even higher.

Of the more than 93,000 Americans lost, an estimated 57,550 overdosed on synthetic opioids, primarily fentanyl – a more than 50% jump from 2019. However, deaths due to methamphetamine and cocaine also increased.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to issue preliminary life expectancy data next week, a figure that has also been driven down in recent years due to the high volume of drug overdoses.

Monique Tula, executive director of the National Harm Reduction Coalition, told the Journal that states must respond to the urgent need for public policy intervention in the war on drugs.

She suggests the governments of states and cities use settlement funds that they will receive from high-profile lawsuits against opioid manufacturers and distributors to invest in prevention programs.

The Unlock Michigan petition now heads to the GOP-led Legislature for expected enactment.

After two orders from the Michigan Supreme Court, the State Board of Canvassers unanimously certified the Unlock Michigan petition aiming to revoke Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's emergency powers.

The petition heads to the GOP-led Legislature. The spokeswoman for Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey of Clarklake, Abby Walls, said lawmakers intend to enact the petition "as soon as we are able."

Fred Wszolek, the spokesman for Unlock Michigan, welcomed the news.

"We're looking forward to the next and final step on the long read: passage by the Michigan House and Senate of our initiative to repeal this law so abused by Governor Whitmer," Wszolek said in a statement.

The Board in April of 2020 deadlocked 2-2 on multiple motions.

The Unlock Michigan petition, filed in October 2020, dates back to the early COVID-19 pandemic when Gov. Gretchen Whitmer enacted the most severe restrictions in the 12 Midwest states via 1945 pandemic powers the petition aims to eliminate. Those far-reaching orders included threatening criminal charges for operating a motorboat, visiting a secondary home, and banning stores larger than 50,000 square feet from selling gardening supplies. Entire professions, including barbers and landscapers, were deemed "non-essential."

But on Oct. 2, 2020, The Michigan Supreme Court tossed many of Whitmer's executive orders, but split 4-3 on whether the 1945 Emergency Powers of the Governor Act "is an unlawful delegation of legislative power to the executive branch in violation of the Michigan Constitution."

Terry McAuliffe Fundraises for Virginia Dem Who Served Time for Underage Sex

McAuliffe takes 'politically expedient' route after calling on Dem to resign

Five years after calling on him to resign, Virginia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe spoke at a fundraiser for a state lawmaker who served jail time in an underage sex case.

McAuliffe, who served as governor of Virginia from 2014 to 2018, threw his support behind Democratic state senator Joe Morrissey in 2019, five years after Morrissey, 63, was charged with having a sexual relationship with his then-17-year-old part-time receptionist.

McAuliffe initially called on Morrissey to resign as a state delegate after the conviction, calling the charges "disturbing." But five years later, McAuliffe flipped and campaigned for Morrissey after he won the Democratic primary for a state senate seat. McAuliffe's change of heart is raising questions about his political motivations—in 2019, he called on Virginia Democratic governor Ralph Northam to step down due to a blackface scandal but two years later said he was "honored" to accept Northam's endorsement.

"What I love about Joe is he will fight for you," said McAuliffe at a fundraiser event at Morrissey's home in 2019. "And the people most in need is the one he will fight for, and that's what I respect about Joe Morrissey."

Morrissey told the Washington Free Beacon that McAuliffe's initial call for him to resign in 2014 was "politically expedient" and noted that McAuliffe changed his tune only after Morrissey won the state senate primary and became an important figure for Democrats seeking to maintain a majority in the state house last year.

"I won [the primary], and the next story was look at all these Democrats that are genuflecting at the altar of Joe Morrissey," said Morrissey. "I'm not naïve, I have thick Irish skin, and I get it."

"That's what politicians do, and that's why my wife hates politicians, because they just look at what's politically expedient," he added.

Morrissey said he is supporting McAuliffe's bid for governor. McAuliffe did not respond to a request for comment.

Morrissey's comments echo a complaint last week from former Democratic Virginia governor Douglas Wilder, who slammed McAuliffe for cozying up to his successor, Gov. Ralph Northam, after having called on Northam to step down because of a blackface scandal.

"The people of Virginia have not forgotten. They are not stupid. They are not fooled, they are not being hoodwinked," Wilder said. "You said [Northam] was in blackface. He's got to go. Have you changed your mind about any of this? And if not, then why not? Now, explain to the people of the commonwealth."

Afghanistan Withdrawal a Mistake, May Lead to 'Unspeakable Harm' for Women, Bush Says

Former President George W. Bush said in an interview released Wednesday that he thinks the decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Afghanistan is a mistake that will ultimately hurt the Afghan people.

"I'm afraid Afghan women and girls are going to suffer unspeakable harm," he said in a lengthy interview with the German public broadcasting service DW posted online.

When asked whether the withdrawal is a mistake, Bush said, "I think it is, yeah," adding that he's saddened contemplating what will come next.

"I think the consequences are going to be unbelievably bad," he said. "[Former first lady Laura Bush] and I spent a lot of time with Afghan women, and they're scared."

President Joe Biden announced plans in April to pull all remaining troops from Afghanistan by the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The process is ahead of schedule. Biden told reporters at the White House on July 8 that the American withdrawal which the military says is now 95% complete will be completed by the end of August.

Former President Donald Trump had also long pushed to withdraw troops from Afghanistan. His administration reached a peace agreement with the Taliban in February 2020, and he attempted to withdraw nearly all troops from Afghanistan before his term in office concluded, drastically cutting the US footprint during his tenure. At the time Bush didn’t comment about Trump’s intended withdrawal.

Bush also raised concerns to DW about thousands of Afghans who served as interpreters and in other jobs for the U.S. and NATO allies, and are now at risk of violent reprisal from the Taliban.

"It seems like they're just going to be left behind to be slaughtered by these very brutal people," he said. "It breaks my heart."

But the White House said Wednesday it plans to begin evacuating eligible Afghans who worked for the U.S., if they are interested, beginning the last week of July as part of Operation Allies Refuge.

Exact details on how this evacuation will take place are unclear. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki declined to outline where the Afghans will go or other details in a news conference Wednesday, citing operational security concerns.

Biden Admin Waives Sanctions on Iranian Oil Trade As DOJ Announces Charges On Spy Network

Iranian intel agents sought to kidnap American journalist

The State Department informed Congress late Tuesday that it would waive sanctions on Iran's illicit oil trade so that the country can access frozen funds from South Korea and Japan, the same day the Department of Justice announced charges on an Iranian spy network that sought to kidnap an American.

The waiver, signed by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, allows the "transfer of Iranian funds in restricted accounts to exporters in Japan and the Republic of Korea," according to a notification sent to Congress by the State Department. The waiver allows Iranian money that had been frozen as a result of American sanctions to be freed up without violating the law. "Allowing these funds to be used to repay exporters in these jurisdictions will make those entities whole with respect to the goods and services they exported to Iran, address a recurring irritant in important bilateral relationships, and decrease Iran’s foreign reserves," the waiver states.

The waiver was announced on the same day the Justice Department announced new charges against a network of Iranian intelligence agents who sought to kidnap an American journalist and bring her to Iran. The charges include kidnapping conspiracy, sanctions violations conspiracy, bank and wire fraud conspiracy, and money laundering conspiracy charges.

The sanctions relief also comes as the United States and Iran get closer to finalizing a revamped nuclear deal that will even further unwind sanctions on Tehran. Congressional Republicans are likely to oppose the move, which lessens economic pressure on Iran at a time when it is still funding regional terror groups and building out its nuclear weapons program. Sanctions of Iran's oil trade were a hallmark policy of the Trump administration, which sought to cut Iran's exports down to zero and deny the regime a key source of income.

Richard Goldberg, the former director for countering Iranian weapons of mass destruction on Trump's White House National Security Council, said the waiver will relieve pressure on Iran's floundering economy and give it access to much-needed cash.

"There’s a reason we talk about accessible foreign exchange reserves versus inaccessible foreign exchange reserves. If you free up money that’s trapped in foreign accounts for Iran to pay off debts, you are bailing out the regime and rescuing the mullahs from a balance of payments crisis," said Goldberg, a senior adviser at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. "This is a bailout, plain and simple. And to announce it right as DOJ tells us Iran tried to kidnap an American journalist out of New York City—that’s a national outrage."

A State Department spokesman said Blinken signed the sanctions waiver to give Japan and Korea another 90-days to complete transactions with Iran.

Aerial Images Expose Illegal Oil Trafficking Between Kurdish Forces, Turkey’s Proxies In Syria

On July 10, RusVesna.SU shared new photos exposing the illegal oil trade between Kurdish forces and Turkish-backed militants in Syria.

The photos, which were likely taken by a Russian reconnaissance, show a meeting point on the M4 highway where Kurdish forces hand over oil illegally produced from northeastern Syria fields to Turkish-backed militants.

The oil is shipped from the Kurdish-held town of Manbij in the northeastern Aleppo countryside to Turkish-occupied areas in the governorate’s northern countryside through the Abu Julud crossing. 20 to 50 tanker pass through the crossing every day.

From there, the stolen oil is distributed to two illegal markets run by Turkish-backed militants near the towns of Tarhin and Qabasin.

Turkey and its proxies call Kurdish forces in Syria, represented by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), “terrorist groups”. Yet, they have no problem buying looted oil from them. The SDF, from its side, relies on the “blood money” it receives from Turkish forces.

Earlier this year, a series of missile strikes targeted illegal oil markets in Turkish-occupied areas. The strikes were reportedly carried by Russian and Syrian government forces.

Media Release 'Fact Checks' On InfoLib Article Highlighting Biden Kneeling Before Israeli Prez

AP, Reuters and USA Today all released fake "fact checks" mischaracterizing my article from last week reporting on Joe Biden kneeling before Israeli President Reuven Rivlin in order to have it algorithmically suppressed on social media.

My article "Biden Kneels Before Israeli President; Pledges Unconditional Support to Israel" went viral all last week and screenshots of it were shared all over social media, much to the controlled media's chagrin.

They were really angry that it was factually accurate and made perfect use of a semi-colon so they just acted like there was no semi-colon and ignored the content of the article where I quoted extensively on the official story from the Israeli press.

From the AP, "Photo shows Biden kneeling to respect Israeli president's aide":

CLAIM: Photo shows President Joe Biden kneeling down to the Israeli president, "pledging unconditional support to Israel."

AP'S ASSESSMENT: False. Multiple media outlets wrote about the photo, which shows Biden kneeling before Rivka Ravitz, chief of staff for the Israeli president, after learning she had 12 children.

THE FACTS: On June 28, Biden met with outgoing Israeli President Reuven Rivlin at the White House, where Biden assured Israel that he will not tolerate a nuclear Iran, The Associated Press reported.

A photo of Biden kneeling during the meeting with Rivlin and Ravitz circulated on social media with a false caption.

"Biden Kneels Before Israeli President; Pledges Unconditional Support to Israel," states an Instagram post that misrepresented the photo. The false post also circulated on Facebook. [Links added from the USA Today article which cited the same sources.]

Haim Zach, a press photographer for the Israeli government, took the photo. Zach told the AP in an email that Ravitz is ultra-Orthodox. When Biden reached out to shake her hand, she didn't reach back because she doesn't shake hands with men. Zach said Biden then knelt and told Ravitz that as a Catholic man he wanted to show his admiration to her as a mother of 12.

Turns out Biden's kneeling was even more humiliating than I thought!

During the meeting with Rivlin, Biden underscored his support to normalize relations between Israel and countries in the Arab and Muslim world. Biden also said his administration would resupply Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system, which was drained during the recent conflict in Gaza, the AP reported.

A White House briefing issued after the meeting reads: "President Biden conveyed his unwavering support for Israel's security and his commitment to deepening the cooperation between the two countries across all fields." The statement did not use the phrase "unconditional support."

A German tax attorney, and the mastermind behind the so-called biggest tax scandal of the century, was arrested by Swiss authorities last week on an extradition warrant. An expert told the OCCRP on Tuesday that like all others involved in the multi-billion affair, Hanno Berger too will say he never broke any law.

Berger is believed to have helped organize and promote share deals that exploited a loophole in German law used by some 900 financial institutions and individuals across Europe. The scheme became known as Cum-Ex and has cost treasuries across the continent some 55 billion euro (US$65 billion).

Germany, whose stock exchange was used for trading, was at the center of the scandal. It lost some 10 billion euro ($11 billion) as a result.

Cum-Ex involved a systematic process where people coordinated to trade a share on the day of dividend distribution to make it look like it’s owned by multiple people.

When taxes are filed, only one person pays the share’s tax, but multiple people file for tax reimbursements on its dividends. This way, multiple people receive refunds on a single tax payment.

This method has been compared to parents claiming child benefits for multiple dependents, when they really only have one child.

The practice was in play from the early 2000s until 2012, when Germany forbade it and changed their law to close the loophole that that was exploited.

In 2018, an investigative journalism team published the Cum-Ex files, which exposed the scheme’s complexities and culprits. Authorities began to crack down and prosecute those involved.

Syedur Rahman, a lawyer specializing in white-collar crime, told the OCCRP on Tuesday that most suspects are going to maintain that their involvement in the scandal didn’t break any laws. “Any suspects involved are likely to say everything was legitimate and above board,” he said. “It was a legal loophole that hedge funds and traders took advantage of.”

However, in 2020, a landmark German court case deemed that the Cum-Ex scandal constituted serious tax fraud, and was criminal.

'Operation 24/7': 31 alleged sex offenders arrested in NJ

NEW JERSEY (WABC) – New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal on Wednesday announced arrests of 31 individuals charged with sexually exploiting children online as part of Operation 24/7, a collaborative effort launched to address the spike in reports of threats to children during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Vernon Jones Calls for Resignation of Georgia Governor Brian Kemp for Certifying ‘Fraudulent Election’

Georgia Republican gubernatorial candidate Vernon Jones is calling for the resignation of Governor Brian Kemp.

Jones is additionally calling for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to look into reports of tens of thousands of duplicate ballots that are missing chain of custody documents.

“Today, in addition to @BrianKempGA resignation, I am calling for an IMMEDIATE GBI investigation into reports of duplicate ballot counts and thousands of missing chain of custody documents. Our Governor had a DUTY to do his due diligence before certifying our election,” Jones tweeted. “He FAILED.”

Jones also linked to a story from The Federalist that states “new evidence indicates that more than 10,300 illegal votes were cast in Georgia in the November 2020 general election — a number that will continue to rise over the next several months, potentially exceeding the 12,670 votes that separated Joe Biden and Donald Trump.”

In a comment to the Gateway Pundit, Jones said that “as Governor, Brian Kemp had an obligation conduct his rightful due diligence before certifying our election. With every passing day, it’s become increasingly clear that he did not do that. He not only failed our state but he failed our country.”

As TGP previously reported, former National Security Advisor and retired three star general Michael Flynn has endorsed Jones’ campaign.

Jones has already raised $650K in 10 weeks for his bid to defeat Kemp — who many Republicans are furious with over his lack of action to restore election integrity.

Canada Court Grants Spy Agency New Sweeping Powers to Run Operations in Foreign Countries

The Federal Court of Canada has granted the country’s spy agency sweeping new powers to conduct operations in foreign countries, decisions unsealed on Wednesday revealed.

The two rulings allow the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), with the assistance of the country’s communications intelligence service and the Communications Security Establishment (CSE), to conduct operations on foreign soil.

The operations include work in conjunction with a host country’s domestic security agencies as well as covert work in violation of a sovereign nation’s laws.

Judge Simon Noel upheld five sections and subsections of the CSIS Act, which was amended by the Canadian parliament in 2015 to grant the spy agency the increased mandate.

Noel said in a ruling on 17 February that he issued the supplementary reasons to state unequivocally that CSIS does have the authority to use the powers authorised in the warrants he signed without regard to the law of a foreign state, as per subsection 21(3.1) of the CSIS Act.

U.S. Coast Guard Offloads $15M in Seized Cocaine

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Tezanos crew offloaded nearly $15 million in seized cocaine and transferred custody of two male smugglers at Coast Guard Base San Juan Monday, following the interdiction of a go-fast vessel in Mona Passage waters near Mona Island, Puerto Rico.

The interdiction resulted from multi-agency efforts in support of U.S. Southern Command’s enhanced counter-narcotics operations in the Western Hemisphere and coordination with the Caribbean Corridor Strike Force (CCSF). The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Puerto Rico is leading the prosecution for this case.

During a routine patrol Saturday afternoon, a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO) Multi-Role Enforcement Aircraft (MEA) aircrew detected two men aboard a go-fast vessel suspected of drug trafficking. Coast Guard Cutter Joseph Tezanos, operating in the vicinity with a CBP AMO Officer onboard, diverted and responded in hot pursuit to interdict the suspect vessel.

Shortly thereafter, cutter Joseph Tezanos arrived on scene and interdicted the go-fast vessel with the assistance of the cutter’s small boat.

The crew of cutter Joseph Tezanos embarked the suspected smugglers and located loose packages aboard the 24-foot go-fast vessel, and they also recovered packages from the water that were jettisoned from the go-fast vessel. In total, the crew of Joseph Tezanos seized 502 packages of cocaine with a combined weight of approximately 1,104 pounds.

2 Found Dead In Hotel Room At Former Miami Beach Versace Mansion

MIAMI BEACH – Two men were found dead inside a hotel room at ‘The Villa Casa Casuarina‘ Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Around 1:20 p.m. local time, officers were called to the location at 1116 Ocean Drive after a housekeeper reportedly found the two dead bodies.

“At this time, the scene is contained to the hotel room and detectives have launched a death investigation,” Miami Beach Police wrote in a tweet.

Police and Fire Rescue were both on scene.

Here’s What Happened at Cyber Polygon – And You’re Not Going to Like It

Cyber Polygon 2020 – a simulation about a “cyber pandemic” – took place July 9, 2021. Many Americans felt widespread concern prior to the event.

Michigan’s Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is required to keep the voting machine passwords in escrow…but according to Benson, only Dominion had access to the passcodes.

Although she’s required to keep the passcodes for Michigan’s voting machines, MI Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson admitted in a recent interrogatory in the Antrim County case that she does not have access to the passcode (that gives access to the machines). According to Benson, only Dominion Voting machines have access to the codes, even though she’s supposed to keep it in escrow and to perform regular and frequent testing. Lambert told us,”This may surprise you, but the passcode used in Antrim County, Michigan, was 1,2,3,4,5,6.”

Why is Dominion Voting Machine subcontractor Election Source running our elections and did they have remote access to the machines during and after the election?

“What the evidence shows, and what the clerks have told us is that they [Election Source] are essentially running the elections.” Lambert told us, adding, “Really, it’s the vendor that has all of the control” of the elections. The vendor has access to the election management system and can remotely access it. So, really, what we’re finding is that the vendors that were not elected by the American people are controlling our elections.” We asked, “Did they, in fact, access the machines?”Stefanie responded, “We have proof of that in Michigan. We have anonymous logins and we have proof that Election Source was accessing machines and that the election was subverted.”

A former Dominion executive is now the person in charge of the EAC (U.S. Election Assistance Commission)

Ms. Lambert dropped yet another bombshell, “There was a person by the name of Jennifer Bowers that was an executive at Dominion until 2019. She is now in charge at the EAC of determining who should be certified and which company should come out and check the election machines and certify them. So in my opinion, we essentially now have Dominion watching Dominion.”

Election Source recently sent a letter to all city clerks in Michigan (see below) telling them that they need to perform “preventative maintenance” to their voting equipment. In their letter to the Michigan city clerks, Election Source explains that they will be replacing batteries in the machines that are essentially of no use to them. In regards to the battery replacement, Election Source writes: “so, in essence, the battery is not necessary.”

So, if the batteries aren’t necessary, why is Election Source going around to all of the city offices and changing them? According to Stefanie Lambert, changing the batteries causes them to erase all microelectronic memory in the machines. We talked to an assistant city clerk tonight in Michigan who told us Election Source came to their office yesterday and changed their battery. He also told us they ran a series of ballots through their machine while they were there to “change the battery.”

Texas Senate passes voting bill despite Democrats fleeing the state

The Texas state Senate approved a sweeping election reform bill Tuesday night, one day after dozens of House Democrats fled the state to prevent the chamber from taking up the legislation.

The state Senate approved the bill on an 18-4 party-line vote. Nine Senate Democrats had joined 51 of their House colleagues in hightailing it to Washington, DC, though this was not enough to deny the upper chamber a quorum.

However, the legislation is now stalled due to the absence of a quorum in the House.

Republicans say the measures in the bill — which include ending drive-thru and 24-hour polling places, banning ballot drop boxes, and empowering partisan poll watchers — are designed to ensure the integrity of the vote by preventing voter fraud. Democrats say they make it harder for poor people and minorities to cast ballots.

Most of the Democratic legislators flew to Washington on two chartered planes Monday, defying threats by Republican Gov. Greg Abbott to have them arrested and forced into the legislative chamber for this month’s special session. Abbott has vowed to continue to call special sessions until next year’s elections, if necessary, until the election reform bill is passed.

Earlier Tuesday, the Texas House voted 76-4 to direct its sergeant-at-arms to send for all absentee members by “warrant of arrest if necessary.” After the vote, the chamber doors were locked. Four House Democrats who did not go to Washington were among the lawmakers still inside, while the voting mechanisms on the desks of those absent were locked.

State Rep. Eddie Morales, one of the four Democrats who remained, told reporters it was unlikely authorities dispatched to track down any absent lawmakers would travel outside the state to do so.

“I was told they will go to your home back in your district, they will go to your place of work, they will go to your apartment in Austin or wherever you live close by when you’re in session,” he said. “And also family and friends that they may know of.”

Australia is ‘on the wrong road’ and government will ‘have to turn around’

Sky News host Alan Jones says Australia is “on the wrong road” and at some point, Morrison and Berejiklian and co are “going to have to turn around”.

Biden White House Refuses to Say Cubans Are Opposing Communism

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki declined to blame communism for the current unrest in Cuba on Wednesday, when asked by Peter Doocy of Fox News whether communism was the reason that people might want to flee Cuba for the U.S.

The context of Doocy’s question was a previous query about a statement Tuesday by Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas that Cubans and Haitians should not come to the U.S. by sea — though the administration is making illegal entry easier through the southern land border with Mexico.

The following exchange occurred during Wednesday’s White House press briefing:

Doocy: As the administration tries to figure out the “root causes” of migration to the country, don’t we know that the reason people want to leave Cuba is because they don’t like communism?

Psaki: We–

Doocy: And so as you’re trying to figure out, like, what the processes are for these people who want to leave Cuba, is —

Psaki: Well, I’m not sure what your question is.

Doocy: You guys have spent a lot of time —

Psaki: why are people leaving Cuba, or what is the process for them getting here? I can explain either of them, but you tell me.

Doocy: Sure, yeah. Do you think people are leaving Cuba because they don’t like communism ?

Psaki: I think we’ve been pretty clear that we think people are leaving Cuba, or not — leaving Cuba, or protesting in the streets, as well, because they are opposed to the oppression, to the mismanagement of the government in the country. And we certainly support their right to protest, we support their efforts to speak out against their treatment in Cuba. I will say, separately, an important question is also what happens when people are seeking protection, or what happens when they are attempting to flee. In the past, as I noted, we’ve had several humanitarian programs … But certainly, we have said many times, and I will reiterate here, that we support not just the role of the protest, and peaceful protests, we stand with the Cuban people in their call for freedom from both the pandemic and from decades of repression and economic suffering to which they have been subjected by Cuba’s authoritarian regime.

Biden claimed during the 2020 election to have “taken on the Castros of the world,” but enthusiastically supported President Barack Obama’s “normalization” policy with the Castro regime during his tenure as vice president.

The Biden administration initially blamed the unrest in Cuba on frustration over rising COVID cases.

Tyson Foods recently updated their recall to confirm one person has died and three others are hospitalized from a listeria outbreak tied to the company’s fully cooked chicken.

Approximately 8,955,296 pounds of ready-to-eat (RTE) chicken products may be adulterated with Listeria monocytogenes.

These items were shipped nationwide to retailers and institutions, including hospitals, nursing facilities, restaurants, schools and Department of Defense locations.

The products include chicken strips, pulled chicken, diced chicken, chicken wing sections, fully cooked pizza with chicken, and chicken salad sandwiches.

The brands include Tyson, Jet’s Pizza, Casey’s General Store, Marco’s Pizza, Little Caesars, and Circle K

The frozen, fully cooked chicken products were produced between December 26, 2020 and April 13, 2021. The products that are subject to recall are listed here. View the labels here.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. P-7089” on the product bag or inside the USDA mark of inspection.

Listeria is particularly harmful to people who are 65 years or older, pregnant, or have a weakened immune system.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken welcomes UN probe of ‘racism’ in US

The United Nations — whose World Health Organization arm was just panned for its probe of the COVID-19 pandemic’s origins confined to guidelines set by the Chinese Communist Party — has been formally invited by the Biden administration to investigate “the scourge of racism, racial discrimination, and xenophobia” in the US, according to Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

“As the President has repeatedly made clear, great nations such as ours do not hide from our shortcomings; they acknowledge them openly and strive to improve with transparency,” said Blinken in a statement released Tuesday.

“It is in this context that the United States intends to issue a formal, standing invitation to all UN experts who report and advise on thematic human rights issues,” he continued. “As a first step, we have reached out to offer an official visit by the UN Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism and the UN Special Rapporteur on minority issues.”
