The tendency that men have to want to transform illogical actions into logical actions leads them to believe that B is an effect of the cause of C. In this way, a direct relationship of CB is established, instead of the indirect relationship, which arises from two relations AB, A C.
Sometimes the relation CB certainly exists, but this does not happen as often as is believed. The same feeling that pushes men to refrain from doing an action B (relations A B), pushes them to create a theory C (relation A C).
Some have, for example, a horror of murder B, and will abstain from it; but he will say that the gods punish the murderer, which is the theory.
