Watch live as Jeff Bezos launches into space on Blue Origin's first passenger flight
The billionaire founder of Amazon and Blue Origin is preparing to ride a New Shepard rocket up to the Kármán line - an imaginary boundary 62 miles (100 kilometers) above sea level, where many experts say space begins. There, he'll experience weightlessness and stunning views of Earth for about three minutes.
The Blue Origin launch system has flown successfully 15 times, but never with people on board. This will be its first passenger flight. The rocket is scheduled to lift off from Blue Origin's launch site in Texas at around 8 a.m. CT (9 a.m. ET) on Tuesday.
"To see the Earth from space, it changes you. It changes your relationship with this planet, with humanity," Bezos said in an Instagram video announcing the launch. "I want to go on this flight because it's a thing I've wanted to do all my life. It's an adventure. It's a big deal for me."
Bezos won't be flying solo. His brother Mark is set to join him, along with Wally Funk, an 82-year-old aviator who trained to go to space in the 1960s but was ultimately denied the opportunity because she was a woman. An as-yet-unidentified multimillionaire won an auction for the fourth seat, with the proceeds going to Blue Origin's foundation, Club for the Future.

Pipe Bombs Believed To Have Been Placed Night Before Attack On U.S. Capitol

The FBI believes the pipe bombs placed outside of the Democratic and Republican party headquarters in Washington, D.C., were staged on Jan. 5, the night before the attempted insurrection at the Capitol.
On Jan. 6, U.S. Capitol Police responded to multiple reports of what appeared to be two separate pipe bombs at approximately 1 p.m. Both devices were disabled and turned over to the FBI, an USCP release said. A $50,000 reward was initially offered by the FBI for information about the incident. The reward has since doubled to $100,000 and new information has been released about the suspect.
The FBI announced Friday that the bombs were staged the day before the riots at the Capitol, between the hours of 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The individual who staged the devices wore a face mask and a grey hooded sweatshirt. More specifically, the FBI said the suspect was wearing Nike Air Max Speed Turf shoes; yellow, black and grey in color. He or she also had a backpack.
While sweeping for additional explosives after finding the two pipe bombs, law enforcement came across a what appeared to be firearm in a red pickup truck, registered in Alabama to a Lonnie L. Coffman, a Department of Justice statement said.
Capitol Police Bomb Squad members searched the vehicle and found: one handgun; one M4 Carbine assault rifle, accompanied with loaded magazines; and components for 11 "Molotov Cocktails" — mason jars filled with flammable liquids, rags and lighters.
The next day, 70-year-old Lonnie Leroy Coffman of Falkville, Ala., was arrested on charges of carrying a pistol without a license and unlawful possession of a destructive device.

Birth ‘tourism’ set to explode with Biden’s encouragement
The number of “tourists” who lie their way into the United States with the goal of having their babies here, automatically making the child a citizen, is expected to double or more now that the Biden administration has barred officials from arresting new mothers for immigration fraud.
In a little-noticed move, the Biden administration on July 1 barred Immigration and Customs Enforcement from detaining or arresting pregnant women, nursing mothers, or those who gave birth in the last year, essentially giving them amnesty unless they are violent criminals or terrorists.
While apparently focused on migrants who illegally crossed the border, it would also include those who lie to get a tourist visa to enter the U.S. to have their child in the U.S. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, there were up to 26,000 “birth tourists” last year.
Not only do their children win U.S. citizenship, granted by the 14th Amendment, but it is unlikely that they will be separated from their mothers or fathers in the future.
“We already know what’s going to happen,” said Mark Morgan, the former acting commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection. “They’re going to stay. They’re going to stay.”
Stephen Miller, the architect of former President Donald Trump’s immigration strategy, called the Biden changes “an inducement to enter for the sole purpose of birthright citizenship.”
The new policy states that “generally, ICE should not detain, arrest, or take into custody for an administrative violation of the immigration laws individuals known to be pregnant, postpartum, or nursing unless release is prohibited by law or exceptional circumstances exist.” About two-thirds of those brought before immigration courts face “administrative violations,” such as crossing the border illegally.
That essentially bars the detention of new and soon-to-be mothers in the U.S. who enter illegally.
But it also will include those who enter on a tourist visa, said Morgan and Robert Law, the former policy chief for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services who is now with the Center for Immigration Studies.
“Most of the birth tourism is people coming via airline,” Law said. He added that many are Chinese. “They say, ‘Yeah, we’re just going to Disneyland.' But in reality, they’re pregnant.”
In a recent blog post, he noted that President Joe Biden’s pick to head USCIS refused to call birth tourism visa fraud.
"The fact that the Biden administration can't say those words, that no, that is wrong, suggests that they have no problem with it, they're not going to try to enforce the law, they're not going to try to combat it. And the result will be predictable: The numbers will explode,” he said.
The administration’s message will result in an enormous cost to taxpayers, Morgan said. “You're going to be allowed to come here illegally. You will not be detained. You will be provided free healthcare. Then, when your child is born, that child will be a U.S. citizen. And then guess what? They're never going to be removed,” Morgan said.
And, he added of the flawed system, “it gets better. So then that person that comes over on a fraudulent visa has a kid, stays, then applies for asylum. Or the individual who crosses our southwest border illegally has a child and claims asylum. Both of those now can petition under the new [rules] to have the rest of the family flown to America at taxpayers' expense. That’s where we are at right now.”
