Good morning faggots. Wifeanon had me watching "Tomorrow War" this weekend. It's an Amazon Prime release starring Chris Pratt. Not one of her best suggestions (she killed it with "Midway", however). But I digress.
The following night, I introduced her to Shawshank Redemption.
Good lord was I floored by the difference. I mean, I knew things had gotten really bad but only when watching a classic right after a new piece of absolute shit does it bring out how awful new movies have become.
Chris Pratt is a high school science teacher, in his classroom is a screen that is constantly running Global Warming messages to the students (audience). Because of Global Warming all the ice in Russia melts and an alien spaceship full of beasts, that crashed thousands of years ago, comes to life and the beasts wipe out all humanity. Humans "from the future" come back and recruit humans to go to the future and fight the monsters - everyone dies, basically.
The messages are clear:
Global Warming is real and will kill us all very soon, one way or another.
Science is God.
Teenagers are the smartest people on the planet.
The family destruction messages are equally clear:
Bribe your child to lie to your wife - this is normal and healthy.
Break things when you get mad.
Ignore the emotional needs of your crying 11 year old who is sad because she thinks you're going do die in a war - instead quiz her on science until she stops crying.

Hollywood needs to BURN TO THE FUCKING GROUND YESTERDAY.
Bring back the story tellers.
