I'm torn a bit on the Britney Spears situation.
On the one hand I can see how effective it would be to use it as a distraction.
She is a popular star and evokes strong emotions.
Most people would be immediately sucked in to the story and ignore other, more important events.
But she has also been a witness to many atrocities in her life.
And if she is willing to come forward and expose what has happened to her she would be a very attractive witness.
The DS tactic of using sleaze and salacious rumor could be turned against them.
Everyone would tune in to hear what she had to say.
About the abuse.
About the trafficking.
About the misuse of the legal system against her, to keep her a prisoner.
All of the tools [those in power] use to manipulate others.
It's hard to assess dispassionately.
Layers upon layers of deception.
