Likely already retired at the time evidence was in police custody?
Seem to recall there were a couple of police deaths where the cops in NY turned their backs on diBlasio (sp?). I'll see what I can find.

Even though the date is well before 2017, this det died in a very similar circumstance. Promoted to Det posthumously.
They had information prior to Nov. 2016, when stories started breaking about it. How much sooner did they have the laptop before it became known?
