Former Broncos assistant Greg Knapp dies from injuries sustained in bicycle accident
Knapp, who was 58, was on the Broncos' staff from 2013-16
In a statement, the Broncos said Knapp “was an outstanding coach and an even better person. In his four years as our quarterbacks coach, Greg was an instrumental part of two Super Bowl appearances and our championship run in 2015. The job he did coaching our quarterbacks during our Super Bowl 50 season was masterful. … Greg was a trusted confidant and the very definition of a ‘quarterback whisperer.’”
According to the Jets, Knapp never regained consciousness after Saturday’s accident.
After coaching at Sacramento State from 1986-1996, Knapp entered the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers as a quality control coach. He rose to quarterbacks coach (1998-2000) and offensive coordinator (2001-03).
