It surely seems too late for humans to have any control over the outcome, especially since we don't know the rules which are up for interpretation by those who we have no physical connection.
It's all so bizarre. It's hard to go outside and enjoy life when it seems "the machine" is just waiting for your number to come up so it can take you out in a way that purely serves its purpose.
