I don't have any prior deep knowledge about blockchain systems, but I've been around computers in the past few decades. Here is what I've been able to gather in the past 2 days when they started to push to download Swarm for the gooodies

Swarm is useless as it is, based on what I was able to see it is a prior version of some kind of distributed file system. - a backbone if you will

When you download it will start downloading data but in this case your computer acts like an encrypted storage for somebody else's data. A new hex key is being generated which will identify you in the etherium network similar to the epstein contract's creator key 0xcf8335727b776d190f9d15a54e6b9b9348439eee

This thing is running locally and accessable on http://localhost:8500/ but the whole thing seems to be broken, DNS and even the raw access is broken/whacked not even the bzzr://32628732bee753951e353c65ec0cd1e13a7a4fedb98782c639b6d88b9a516999 is accasable (Epstein contract source code in https://etherscan.io/address/0xcf8335727b776d190f9d15a54e6b9b9348439eee#code)

Swarm has a clearnet gateway https://gateway.ethswarm.org/ which is pushing to download Bee the new and wonderful client to access Swarm because it has been depricated… cool

Ok let's see what we will need, okay windows not even mentioned but there is a github repo https://github.com/ethersphere/bee/releases

Ok run it… and fail… see configuration in the doc above… it is not going to work as it is you need to generate config file and change it to connect to the mainnet, configure some portforwarding.

By default it runs in light node mode meaning pay-to-play, but there is an incentivized full node mode which needs to be enabled in the config aaaaaand you will need to connect to a swap endpoint.. ok where and what now? based on doc go getblock.io and register (with temp mail) to get api key, and start your node with proper config and shit…. aaaaaand error "cannot continue until there is sufficient ETH (for Gas) and at least 1 BZZ available"

Fuck this shit NOW!

Buy it? fuck NO!

(There is the test network where you can get BZZ from some discord bot which is not working soooooo fuck it)

Discrepencies I've found:

• why the Swarm node/client runs out of the box like a charm BUT the Bee client does not? in fact it requires quite some fucking around

• how come the Bee client 1.0 came online on July 21st and the drop supposed to happen right after that?

• why this thing seems to be a pay to play model?

• why i have the feeling that all documentation is cryptic and foggy I don't really know why I'm doing what I'm doing, it is just forcing me to do it

Based on the above this whole thing seems to me a scam:

• because of the above

• the 31TB carrot which just appeared in the info cycle out of nowhere (I've not checked but the initial statement was the tweet is unconfirmed)

• but that could be a nice incentive/carrot for the masses to install Swarm nodes on a massive scale and get nothing for it but it would deploy the backbone (under a day it chached for me 10+ GB data from someone else… I've shut it down)

I've seen on many docs/descriptions/blogs/bullshit hypes this is WEB 3.0 the next level distributed, decentralized free and rainbows and puppies network, which is good let's go for it, but after skimming through the provided 250 page long whitepaper I'm not so sure about it.

First of all they want to incentivize the seeding/caching the data so you get BZZ for running a full node, that is quite fine, but to acess data you will also need BZZ and that is going to be where it will fail:

• ISPs are limiting monthly traffic - they just need to limit further with exceptions FB GOOG YT etc

• with enough resources - meaning money - there are going to be node farms which can earn huge amount of BZZs (in server farms see china) and that is where the whole decentralized idea failed

• Also if the above is going to happen the price of BZZ will go up, and I have not seen any safeguard in the whitepaper against it (there might be i was skimming) - not going to be cheap

• Just to start get/buy Eth/Bzz… pay-to-play…. Free.. yes my ass!

I might be wrong here, so any anon who has deeper knowledge please extend/correct me with referencies.

Also provide me/us a detailed configuration guide WITHOUT buying any digital SHIT!
