Scalise rips Biden DOJ for dropping probe of Cuomo ‘must admit’ nursing home order: ‘Unconscionable’

Steve Scalise blasted the Biden Justice Department’s decision to drop its investigation into Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s decision to order nursing homes to take in patients sickened with COVID-19 as the then-burgeoning pandemic was ravaging eldercare facilities in his state.

“It is outrageous that the Department of Justice refuses to investigate the deadly ‘must admit’ orders issued by governors in New York, Pennsylvania, and Michigan that resulted in the deaths of thousands of senior citizens,” the Louisiana Republican said Friday in a statement after the department informed House Republicans it was dropping its probe.

“Where is the justice for nursing home victims and their grieving families? These deadly orders contradicted the CDC’s guidance, and needlessly endangered the most vulnerable among us to the deadly COVID-19 virus,” Scalise noted further.

GOP officials decry order to yank vote machines over ‘audit’

Republican elected officials from a small, rural Pennsylvania county urged state officials Friday to reconsider a decision to require new voting machines because a software firm was allowed to inspect the equipment after the election.

Stuart Ulsh, chairman of the Fulton County Board of Commissioners, argued that the machines were not tampered with or compromised so should be safe for use in November.

“The taxpayers of Fulton County don't deserve to be on the hook for what appears to be a partisan attack from the Department of State on a local Republican government,” Ulsh said in a news conference in front of the county courthouse in McConnellsburg.
