Detective Osborne, 44, was working her normal shift in the 9th Precinct in Manhattan when she suddenly collapsed. Other officers provided emergency first aid and CPR at the scene.

Detective Osborne was transported to a local hospital for advanced life support treatment but all efforts to revive her failed. An autopsy determined that Osborne had suffered a massive heart attack.

Shaniqua Osborne was a 19-year veteran of the New York Police Department. Her husband and children survive her. Her sister is a NYPD sergeant and her mother is a retired NYPD sergeant.
