I think Russia would be an ally to any loyal US military if correcting the steal goes kinetic, so this may be a warning for Putin to butt out if US /China goes hot. From the Russian point of view, I'm not sure what the disadvantage of nuclear weapons and oil wells is in a kinetic war.
