My son is a USMC reservist. He’s out on his annual 2 week field duty right now but I just texted him the news and told him not to get the vax. We had already talked about it a couple of weeks ago because we could see this was coming. He said he wouldn’t take it and we discussed the implications of that decision because, as you know, the military isn’t a job one can just “quit”. He’s prepared to deal with whatever consequences they dole out but I told him to talk to his command about his options. He was originally a tanker but the Corps got rid of their tank units last year (I think) and he had to choose a random MOS to replace his original MOS. There was talk, at that time, that he and others in the tank units might be allowed to end their service early. Somehow he seems to think it’s potentially still an option. Either way he (and your son) are between a rock and a hard place right now and they need our reassurance that refusing the vaccine is making a bold stand for what is right and that they will have our full fledged support and assistance in dealing with the aftermath. They basically need to know it’s not the end of the world to get discharged for doing the right thing, even if our comp’d military gives them a bad conduct discharge. Life will go on. I will pray for you and yours as well as all other military families dealing with this nonsense.
