I wonder if our patriotism is more tied to our institutions for being a young nation and also feeling pride in our Constitution and founding and way of life

 

perhaps it is easier for a Frenchman to feel patriotic and not trust his institutions, since the history is so long, and there have been all kinds of governments, monarchies, republics etc.
