There are only 600 citizens of the Vatican, but only 1/2 of them actually live in Vatican city.

Curious what their legal status is in where they are stationed. 'Diplomatic positions' um I thought they were priests.

Of the 600 Vatican citizens, 71 are Cardinals, 51 clergy, 1 nun.

109 are Swiss Guard. So the majority of Vatican citizens are Swiss? Rather bizarre. How on earth did this happen? Why would Italians hire Swiss mercenaries in 1506 to do this and it lasts until this day?
