Bibi Says Biden Could Ruin Israeli Operations Against Iran by Leaking Info to US Media - Report

According to the former prime minister, his anti-Iran policies were successful because he kept the American presidents in the dark as to Israel's plans in the region.

Leader of Israel's opposition, Benjamin Netanyahu, slammed the incumbent government for the so-called "no surprises policy" with the United States, lamenting it would potentially thwart Israel's attacks against its rival Iran, Israeli media reported on Monday.

"The information that is sent to America could be leaked to major media outlets and in this way our operations will be thwarted," Netanyahu said as quoted by The Times of Israel. "That is why for the last decade I have refused the requests of American presidents to always inform them of our actions."

He reportedly added that "this is an existential issue for Israel, in which there may be surprises and sometimes surprises are needed."

He also said that the government of Naftali Bennett has "turned us into some sort of protectorate with a duty to report. If we have no independence on this matter, we have no independence at all."

This comes as top US and Israeli officials held discussions on regional security, in which they mentioned the "Iran-threat" in the wake of the recent attack against the Mercer Street vessel. The Israeli government quickly accused Tehran of being behind the attack, with Western allies echoing the allegations and vowing a harsh response to Iran. Tehran has denied any involvement in the incident.

The "no surprises" approach in bilateral relations implies that Israel would inform the US in advance regarding any IDF operations against the Islamic Republic. Netanyahu previously lambasted this policy as a threat to Israel's security that ruins its freedom of action against Tehran's nuclear program.

The Israeli government, particularly while Netanyahu was prime minister, has long been sounding the alarm about Iran allegedly working to develop a nuke. This led to the belief that Israel was behind the recent attacks against Iran, including the assassination of its top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh and a "sabotage" incident at the Natanz plant, all allegedly aimed at undermining Iran's nuclear capabilities.

Sydney supermarkets told to hire security guards to enforce QR code check-ins

Shoppers in Sydney could soon be met by security guards at the door after supermarkets were instructed by police to employ people to enforce QR check-in codes.

Key points:

Woolworths CEO Brad Banducci says QR check-ins were a "tricky issue for supermarkets"

QR code check-ins became mandatory at supermarkets from July 12

Police Minister says supermarkets have a "moral obligation" to make customers safe

NSW Police Minister David Elliott said police would hold a teleconference with supermarket bosses this morning to tell them "they must employ security guards".

"There is a need for some logic and this is a logical step as far as I can see," he told Nine Radio.

"What we're going to be telling the supermarkets at 10 o'clock, that they must employ security guards."

Mr Elliott said supermarkets would be told "exactly what's expected of them" and some supermarkets hadn't taken reasonable steps to ensure compliance with QR codes.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian disagreed with Mr Elliott, saying that the responsibility fell on police to conduct compliance checks.

"Obviously police do compliance checks but as Dr Chant and the health advice say, we want as little human contact as possible," she said.

"So the QR codes are there for people to use them but even having a concierge person is a risk as Dr Chant has said previously.

"Police are patrolling and making sure compliance is there but it's as little human-to-human contact as possible that's required."

Businesses and police are divided on whose responsibility it falls on to enforce the rules.

Woolworths CEO Brad Banducci said QR check-ins were a "tricky issue for supermarkets".

He said the onus shouldn't be on supermarkets to enforce the law because it would put workers at risk.

"We encourage and prompt customers to check in but we do not enforce it and that is because we cannot put our team at risk in those scenarios," Mr Banducci said.

"We've got to encourage and prompt but we don't enforce, so if any customers sees someone without a mask, please don't take it out on one of our team.

"That is not their role. That is the role of the police."

Justice Breyer rejects Maine church request to prevent new COVID-19 restrictions

Churches have argued against restrictions on gatherings, which many claim violate the First Amendment

Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer rejected a Maine church’s request to prevent the state from reimposing COVID-19restrictions on places of worship.

Breyer rejected the church's motion for an injunction without comment, though the motion was unlikely to succeed after Maine lifted its restrictions on religious gatherings in May. But citing the Delta variant, the church argued that the governor could at any time reimpose the restrictions.

The church filed the petition last week, arguing that Maine had imposed the "most severe restrictions in the nation on places of worship" and exempted some activities and businesses while targeting religious gatherings.

"Despite the abundant precedent from this Court, Maine ignored it all and continued to impose discriminatory and unconstitutional restrictions on religious worship services long after it became clear they were unconstitutional," the church argued in the petition. "In fact, even after all of the various restrictions had been enjoined or rescinded, Maine maintained the dubious distinction of imposing the most severe restrictions in the nation on places of worship."

The Supreme Court has been involved in several disputes between government and religious institutions since the start of the pandemic as churches across the country have argued against restrictions on gatherings, which many claim violate the First Amendment.

TWO more DC police officers involved in Capitol riot response die by suicide, bringing total to at least 4

Two Washington, DC police officers who took part in the response to the riot in the US Capitol have taken their own lives, their department confirmed, bringing the total number of police suicides in the wake of the unrest to four.

Officer Gunther Hashida was found dead in his home by suicide on July 29, the DC Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) told media outlets on Monday, adding “We are grieving as a Department as our thoughts and prayers are with Officer Hashida’s family and friends.” He died one week before his 44th birthday, according to his obituary.

The officer’s wife, Romelia, also spoke of his passing in a Facebook post on Sunday night.

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi hailed Hashida as a “hero” who “risked his life to save our Capitol, the Congressional community and our very Democracy” in a written statement, adding “May Officer Hashida’s life be an inspiration to all.”

Just hours after the MPD confirmed Hashida’s death, the department told a local CBS affiliate that another officer, 26-year-old Kyle DeFreytag, had also taken his own life on July 10. The suicide was not reported until Monday.

“I am writing to share tragic news that Officer Kyle DeFreytag of the 5th District was found deceased last evening,” MPD chief Robert Contee wrote in a message to the department last month. “This is incredibly hard news for us all, and for those that knew him best.”

Hashida and DeFreytag, who joined the department in 2003 and 2016, respectively, are the third and fourth officers present for the incident on January 6 to die by their own hands. Capitol Police officer Howard Liebengood and MPD officer Jeffrey Smith also committed suicide in the days after the riot.

A fifth law enforcer, officer Brian Sicknick, also died soon after the unrest. While media reports repeatedly suggested he succumbed to injuries inflicted by rioters, medical examiners later determined he died of natural causes following a pair of strokes.

Four others, all protesters, lost their lives during the riot, including two related to natural causes and one fatal drug overdose, while 35-year-old Ashli Babbitt was shot dead by police near the House chamber inside the Capitol.

China’s Global Times newspaper says US holds ‘major responsibility’ for Covid pandemic as ‘largest spreader’

Chinese state-backed newspaper the Global Times accused the United States of holding “major responsibility” for the Covid-19 pandemic after a congressional report blamed China for the virus’ spread.

In an editorial on Monday, the newspaper argued “that the US holds major responsibility for the global spread of the pandemic,” calling “every aspect of what the US has done” to prevent the spread of the virus “disappointing.”

The Global Times specifically listed “four sins” that it charged the US with committing. These include being “the largest spreader of the pandemic” by having the most Covid-19 cases and deaths in the world, contributing “little to the global fight against the virus,” doing “little” in organization to deal with the virus domestically, and making China a “scapegoat.”

“The US is the chief culprit of the current confusion toward how to deal with COVID-19,” the newspaper declared, citing its flip-flopping on policies, divided attitude towards vaccines, and “practice of putting capital first in the fight against the epidemic.”

The Global Times particularly criticized the US for blaming Covid-19 on China, arguing that the politicization of the virus’ origins has “undermined world solidarity against the epidemic” and “constantly interfered with the fight against the epidemic,” making international action against Covid-19 “so intertwined with geopolitics that countries simply cannot coordinate their actions and strategies in a unified way.”

“If there was a global government, Biden’s team would be held to account,” the newspaper proclaimed.

On the same day that the Global Times’ editorial was published, it was reported that an upcoming report from Republicans on the US House Foreign Affairs Committee allegedly contained “ample evidence” that Covid-19 had escaped from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China in September 2019 – allegations China has repeatedly denied.

China, meanwhile, has called for an investigation into the Fort Detrick military installation in Maryland following a petition by 4.7 million Chinese people which questioned whether the location was the real origin of Covid-19.

America's Chinese Fentanyl Flood

Foreigners have been buying—or at least renting—America’s ruling class since the republic was founded. Almost exactly 225 years ago, in his 1796 Farewell Address, George Washington warned against “the insidious wiles of foreign influence,” adding that “foreign influence is one of the most baneful foes of republican government.”

In modern times, Saudis, Japanese, South Koreans, and Israelis—to name a few—have all managed to purchase influence. But the usual goal is to gain advantages for their own nations. What we are seeing now is something much more dangerous—using influence to corrode the United States from within.

One nation is pouring highly addictive and unpredictable illicit drugs into the American bloodstream - killing tens of thousands a year. And the American elites are doing absolutely nothing about it. Now THAT is influence.

The drug? Fentanyl. The country? Communist China.

Fentanyl mostly originates in China, often moving via Mexico (and Mexican drug gangs) into the United States. The Chinese are also into the money laundering part of the business—helping drug gangs launder (or recycle) their massive earnings. Talk about a “win-win”—as the Chinese communists like to say.

Casualties

The deluge started around 2013 and has picked up steadily since then. The numbers are staggering.

In 2017, 28,000 Americans died of overdoses involving fentanyl.

In a 2018 meeting with President Donald Trump, Chinese leader Xi Jinping pledged to restrict all fentanyl-like substances. Trump declared this a “gamechanger.” Not surprisingly, the fentanyl and drugs kept flowing.

In 2019, over 37,000 Americans died from fentanyl overdoses. That’s nearly five times the number of American troops killed in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2020, the U.S. government reported 93,000 American residents died from a drug overdose—the vast majority from fentanyl poisoning. The COVID-19 lockdowns have helped bump up the already horrific death totals.

Yet, even as the death toll mounts, U.S. businesses and financial titans never mention it. The think tanks are mostly silent. Academia? Can’t be bothered. The U.S. media often downplays or ignores the fentanyl bloodbath, and even more so the source, seemingly afraid to mention the C-word, China.
