Regulatory anon here. Banks are same same. I could buy closing branches aided in preventing a run on banks, but that could have occurred with branch closures so it doesn’t make much sense.
Banks look good minus the govt guaranteed mortgages. Essentially all borrowers are paying excluding approximately 20% of the govt guaranteed mortgages. Many of those 20% could pay but the govt says they don’t have to, so they don’t.
