If you wanted to eat or harvest the organs and energy of a strong, hostile prey, you would want VENOM to both incapacitate them AND begin to digest them.
Scopolomine for example would provide awake and aware organ harvesting or adrenochrome harvesting prey.
Control of the metals in your body via EMF could do the same - freeze you in place, awake and aware.
This suggests a tech version of the same thing- frozen but still sensing.
