About the NYPD officers [187]

NYAnon familar with Police Department procedure due to family. The officers shot were on routine patrol and given the rank of Detective after death as a matter of procedure, the Detective union retirement/death in line of duty package is much greater than that of the PBA (officers). They seemed to regular sector patrol and were shot in their sector cars by lunatic BLMers, perhaps MK assets. Nothing suggests these officers had anything to do with the Weiner/Huma investigations. Perhaps I'm wrong-dig background of officers?

Officers can take up multiple/clandestine positions in the department. All sorts of temporary assignments and probably more I don't know about. They have CRV (putting officers on patrol in different Pcts when needed) but then hear of officers working as "rats" for IAB so there's likely other assignments where regular sector cops end up doing some type of deep intelligence work. Could very well be PO Familia did some type of work for the intelligence sections looking into Weiner. I don't think she worked in his District.

IIRC, Comrade Mayor did not attend her funeral.

Officers are on the front lines in sector patrol, transit, counter-terror posts such as Times Square, etc. they are the "boys in blue" with regular uniform shirt, no stripes/brass

The Detective Bureau here is much more than just the investigator-types. Each precinct has a Detective squad but there are a wide range of "detectives" asides from the "squad" in your local Pct. Every member of ESU our equivalent of SWAT has the rank of Detective as ESU is under Detective Bureau. However Detectives can rank in their Bureau from simple Detectve (officer equivalent) to higher ups such as Detective Seargeants and LTs who the "line detectives" report to. The investigators on the Weiner/Huma case are on the Detective ranks but not your neighborhood detective squad.
