Sometime in the 1800's there were legal cases that established a precedent giving corporations the rights of "persons".

I don't think non-human entities can own property on earth.
The Bible tells us that God gave the earth to the children of men to steward. I don't see that it tells us non-human entities other than God "own" anything on earth. (picrel)
Therefore, corporations do not have the rights of persons and cannot own property.
