CDC Warns People to Not Eat Raw Cake Batter After E. Coli Outbreak Sickens 16

U.S. health officials are warning people not to eat raw cake batter as they investigate a multistate outbreak of E. coli linked to cake mix.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that as of July 27, 16 people in 12 states have been reported to have been infected with the same strain of the E. coli bacteria.

They range in age from 2 to 73-years-old and 75 percent of them are children under 18, the CDC said.

Seven people had to be hospitalized, the CDC said, including one who developed hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure. No deaths have been reported.

All of the sick people are women, the CDC said.

The illnesses started between February 26, 2021, to June 21, 2021, the agency said in an investigation notice posted on its website.

Six of the eight people who had been interviewed by state and local health officials, at last report, said they had eaten or tasted cake batter made from a cake mix, the CDC said.

“People reported buying different varieties and brands of cake mix,” the notice said.

The Food and Drug Administration is looking at purchase records from the locations where sick people bought cake mix to try to find a common brand or production facility, the CDC said.

Investigators performed DNA fingerprinting on the bacteria in the sick people’s samples and found that they were closely related genetically.

“This means that people in this outbreak likely got sick from the same food,” the CDC said.

The number of people sickened is likely much higher, the notice said, because many people recover without medical treatment and are never tested for E. coli.

It also takes three to four weeks to determine if a sick person is part of an outbreak, the CDC said.

E. coli can cause diarrhea, severe stomach cramps, vomiting and other symptoms and is spread by ingesting food or water contaminated by human or animal waste or through contact with people or animals.

The CDC recommends people not to eat raw cake batter and other doughs, whether they came from a mix or were made from scratch, because flour and other ingredients can contain harmful bacteria that are only killed during the cooking process.

Spencer Lindquist, a college student from Pepperdine University and an intern at The Federalist, recently wrote a powerful, scathing editorial titled, "The Left Has A Pedophilia Problem, And It's Out In The Open," which argues America's far-left elite are actively working to destroy the innocence of children.

"The Left has, with a startling degree of success, endeavored to reshape our society by embedding their beliefs within the experience of childhood," Lindquist wrote in the op-ed.

Lindquist joined Glenn Beck on the radio program to explain how and why he believes this is happening, what could come next, and to share the one thing he says "we can be thankful about."

"This is not about tolerance, or acceptance, or 'love is love.' Those are all rhetorical tools that are being used to advocate the normalization of pedophilia. And if we conservatives grant them that tolerance and acceptance, then we're not going to do the exact thing that conservatives are tasked with doing. If we cannot conserve the innocence of youth, we have no business calling ourselves conservatives in the first place," Lindquist told Glenn.

"The one thing I see that we can be thankful about, is that they are so out in the open about this," he added. "They have become emboldened. NGOs Sue Texas to Continue Bussing, Flying Border Crossers into U.S.

A group of non-governmental organizations (NGOs), represented by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), have filed a lawsuit against Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in an attempt to continue bussing and flying border crossers into the United States interior.

In July, Abbott issued an executive order that banned NGOs from providing transportation into the U.S. to border crossers and illegal aliens who have been detained by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) or who have been ordered removed under the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) Title 42 authority.

Days later, President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice (DOJ) filed a lawsuit against Texas to block the order from being enforced. This week, a former President George W. Bush-appointed judge temporarily blocked the order from being enforced.

On Thursday, NGOs like Annunciation House, a member of the Catholic Volunteer Network, and Angry Tias and Abuelas of the Rio Grande Valley filed a lawsuit asking a federal judge to permanently block the order and rule it unconstitutional.

According to the lawsuit, Annunciation House and Angry Tias and Abuelas both help bus and fly border crossers into the interior of the U.S. after they are released from Department of Homeland Security (DHS) custody.

“Annunciation House … contracts with a local company once or twice a week to transport migrants in passenger vans in groups of approximately 15,” the lawsuit states.

“Angry Tias funds roughly 25 trips that involve at least two migrants in the vehicle per month; two to six migrants may ride in taxis funded by Angry Tias together at a time,” the lawsuit continues:

Additionally, Angry Tias members drive recently arrived asylum seekers, including those recently released from federal immigration custody, in the Rio Grande Valley to medical appointments, bus stations, and airports. These trips include groups of multiple asylum seekers per vehicle.

The lawsuit states that border crossers “often use ground transportation — particularly buses” in El Paso, Texas; McAllen, Texas; and Brownsville, Texas that they were driven to by “shelters and multi-passenger taxis” typically paid for by NGOs.

Likewise, the lawsuit states that border crossers “fly out of airports in the Texas-Mexico border area.” Annunciation House “frequently takes migrants from their shelters to the El Paso International Airport in vehicles carrying up to 15 passengers at a time.”

Angry Tias also funds taxis for border crossers to take to the airports.

Reserve Bank governor says we'll suffer less economic damage if everyone gets vaccinated faster

Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) governor Philip Lowe says the quicker everyone gets vaccinated the less economic damage we will incur, and the faster we can open up.

He said the outbreak of the Delta strain in New South Wales, and the impact of recent lockdowns in neighbouring states, would affect the national economy significantly in coming months.

Speaking to a parliamentary committee in Canberra on Friday, Dr Lowe warned we were entering a tough period, and economic activity was going to contract in the third quarter.

He said he could not rule out economic activity contracting for six months in a row, although he thought that was "unlikely" at this stage.

He said current RBA modelling assumed the damaging Delta variant of the virus would not be followed by "further variants that could cause similar episodes", which explains why he thinks there won't be six months of negative growth.

That could change, however.

Dr Lowe said it was very important for everyone to get vaccinated as quickly a possible, because that would reduce the amount of economic damage around the country and help to open up faster.

Asked if he was a strong supporter of encouraging people to get vaccinated, he said "100 per cent".

"I've had my first shot of AstraZeneca, I'm getting my second one in two week's time," he said.

He said his deputy governor, Guy Debelle, had had both shots, and most of the senior staff at the RBA had had at least one shot of AZ.

But asked if he was optimistic about the economic outlook, he said he was optimistic about "next year".

Inflation not a concern

On the topic of inflation, Dr Lowe said concerns about an outbreak in inflation seemed to have been imported from US political arguments.

He said it would not happen in Australia.

"It's very difficult for me to see us having an inflation problem," he said.

Recent data from the Bureau of Statistics show annual inflation is running at 3.8 per cent, which is above the RBA's target band of 2 to 3 per cent, and well above the rate of recent years.

However, economists say the strong growth in inflation is largely temporary, and will likely fall again.

Jeb Bush, the former governor of Florida, made a bizarre tweet earlier this week regarding the Olympics and Team USA’s medal count that has left me confused for a number of reasons.

This poorly worded tweet seems to be suggesting that Jeb is disappointed in Team USA’s medal count and believes it would be better if immigration had been less “exclusionary” during the Trump years.

Well, there are a few problems with this tweet. For starters, while some teams haven’t performed as expected, Team USA’s medal count is hardly disappointing. According to the official Olympics website, as of this writing, the USA ranks second in the number of gold medals and first in total medals.

Is Jeb Bush disappointed by that?

But the most disturbing thing (I think) about the tweet is that he seems to be implying that because of the Trump years, America didn’t get enough foreign-born talent to do better in the Olympics. So are foreign-born Americans better athletes than American-born athletes, Jeb?

Listen, Jeb, I get that you don’t like Trump, and you’re probably still a bit bruised by the way he wiped the floor with you in the 2016 GOP primaries. Still, it seems incredibly anti-American to imply that American-born athletes are inferior to foreign-born athletes. I’m sure you thought it made you sound woke and inclusive, but instead, it just makes you sound anti-American. I honestly have no idea which athletes competing on Team USA are foreign-born. ‘This is a battle between Our Lord and the devil’: Doctor-nun slams forced vaccines, communism

“If we treat them early – early is the ticket – with ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine,” Byrne said, “80% of the people will not have to go to the hospital.”

But Byrne lamented that the treatments have been largely ignored in favor of experimental “vaccines” which have become increasingly mandated.

“That’s the shame of it all, that because this is an emergency mandate of vaccination, they’re trying to push it on everybody,” Byrne said, noting that emergency vaccination would only be necessary if there were a lack of effective therapeutics.

“We have therapy, and it’s proven therapy, and the powers-that-be, the government leaders here in the states, are ignoring this data.”

A church leader has been charged over the alleged concealment of alleged child sex offences.

In 2019, an investigation commenced by officers attached to The Hills Police Area Command into reports a 67-year-old man had knowingly concealed information relating to child sexual offences.

Following extensive investigations, detectives requested the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) review their brief of evidence.

Earlier this week, the ODPP provided advice to police, and following further inquiries, detectives served a Court Attendance Notice for conceal serious indictable offence on the man’s legal representative about 2pm today (Thursday 5 August 2021).

Police will allege in court the man knew information relating to the sexual abuse of a young male in the 1970s and failed to bring that information to the attention of police.

The man is expected to appear in Downing Centre Local Court on Tuesday 5 October 2021.

Biden’s DHS Admits ‘Significantly Increased Rates’ of COVID-Positive Border Crossers Arriving in U.S.

The rate at which coronavirus-positive border crossers are arriving in the United States has “increased significantly,” according to President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

David Shahoulian, DHS’s assistant secretary for border and immigration policy, admitted in a court brief filed this week that the agency has seen “significantly increased rates” of coronavirus-positive border crossers arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border, spurring “extremely worrisome” conditions at border facilities.

Shahoulian writes in the brief:

As explained in more detail below, the United States is currently encountering record numbers of noncitizens, including families, at the border. These encounter rates have strained DHS operations and caused border facilities to be filled beyond their normal operating capacity, impacting the ability to employ social distancing in these congregate settings. At the same time, DHS is also experiencing significantly increased rates of noncitizens testing positive for COVID19. In light of these and other considerations, enjoining the application of the CDC Order to families would exacerbate overcrowding at DHS facilities and create significant public health risks. This risk has recently increased due to the recent spread of the highly transmissible COVID-19 Delta variant. The rates at which encountered noncitizens are testing positive for COVID-19 have increased significantly in recent weeks. And although the rate of infection among CBP officers had been declining, this rate recently began increasing again, even though the percentage of officers and agents who have been fully vaccinated has grown significantly since January. This has led to increasing numbers of CBP personnel being isolated and hospitalized. [Emphasis added]

Shahoulian also admits in the brief that as of August 1, the U.S. Border Patrol was nearly 400 percent overcapacity. Specifically, Border Patrol had nearly 18,000 border crossers in its custody despite a coronavirus-adjusted capacity limit for about 4,700 border crossers.

“These capacity figures are extremely worrisome,” Shahoulian writes.

More specifically, the Border Patrol was over capacity in seven of its nine southwest border sectors. As of August 1, the RGV sector — which has been the epicenter of the current surge — was holding 10,002 noncitizens and was thus 783 percent over its COVID19 adjusted capacity of 1,278 and 287 percent over its normal, non-adjusted capacity of 3,485. Within RGV, noncitizen families and UCs are primarily transferred to a temporary processing facility in Donna, Texas in the RGV, which has a normal operating capacity of 1,625 and a COVID-19 adjusted capacity of 813 based on CDC recommended guidelines. Within nine days of this facility opening on February 9, 2021, it had already exceeded its normal non-COVID19 operating capacity with more than 1,000 noncitizens in custody. As of August 1, this facility was operating at 446 percent of its COVID-19 adjusted capacity, and 223 percent of its normal non-COVID-19 operating capacity, with 3,623 noncitizens in custody. These capacity figures are extremely worrisome, particularly because of the continued spread of the highly transmissible Delta variant. Overcrowding challenges DHS’s ability to effectively execute many of its core public health mitigation and countermeasure activities. Additionally, higher rates of COVID-19 transmission within a DHS facility could quickly impede the Department’s ability to utilize that facility’s maximum capacity, further lowering the overall processing and holding capacity along the southwest border. Bloodied St. Vincent PM hospitalized with head injury after rioter hurls rock amid chaotic protest against vaccine mandate

The prime minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines was hospitalized after he was struck in the head by a stone during a protest against a proposed vaccine mandate, with images online showing him bloodied by the injury.

PM Ralph Gonsalves met hundreds of raucous demonstrators as he arrived at parliament on Thursday afternoon, with protesters gathering to denounce a bill that would compel Covid-19 shots for the Caribbean nation. Gonsalves’ office confirmed in a statement that he was “physically assaulted and wounded by opposition demonstrators while attempting to enter the House of Assembly.”

“Approximately 200 demonstrators, responding to a call to action from the Leader of the Opposition, picketed the parliament and blocked the entrance to the building,” it said, adding that when the PM was unable to enter parliament in his vehicle, he attempted to do so on foot.

An opposition demonstrator then hurled a projectile at the prime minister, which struck him in the head, inches above the temple. The prime minister, bleeding profusely, was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital with his security detail.

Videos from the protest have also made the rounds, with Gonsalves’ security team seen escorting him away from the parliament building amid a chaotic crowd. Other clips also showed protesters elsewhere on the island, some lighting fires in the streets.
