All the fuss about Russian Collusion was essentially saying that somebody (purported to be Russia) had paid ads on Facebook and had so-called fake users posting opinions that favored one candidate or another.
However that was NOT election manipulation. That is because voters could still choose to ignore the messages that they did not agree with. But they did see those messages and got a chance to make their own decisions about the validity of the message.
What Twitter (shaddowbanning) and Facebook (deleting fake accounts) are doing is clear election manipulation. They are not giving voters the chance to make their own decisions and make their own choices. The essence of an election is that everyone has the opportunity to evaluate and understand the situation in their own way, and to cast their vote based on this. When a 3rd party like Twitter or Facebook interferes with this process of learning and deciding and choosing then they are clearly manipulating the election. This should be treated as a violation of the Federal Elections Act.
We need to create an #InternetBillOfRights that PUNISHES Internet businesses who use their position as an intermediary to violate any one of the rights that citizens have in the Bill of Rights. And until there are clear laws to do this, citizens should use civil class action suits to get financial compensation from these companies. I don't think blasting out a Twitter/Facebook hashtag #InternetBillOfRights counts as a storm.
There needs to be substance behind it. Explain what the rights are, why we have them, how the companies are interfering, why we need new laws to PUNISH those companies. PUT THEM IN A PICKLE because if they shadowban or delete this discussion about punishing them for illegal acts, this is as good as ADMITTING THEIR GUILT and may even be usable in a civil RICO case against them. Now that would count as a storm. Think before you go blasting away. Firing shotgun blasts at the clouds may be emotionally satisfying but will not put meat on your table.
