We truly have an insight into the core of mankind - not once has any high-brow cabal club member about-faced and confessed. Never in history has there ever been an admission out of remorse for straying down a dark path.
Either there aren't really that many people doing anything wrong, or the heart of mankind is truly corruptible beyond apology and repair. There is something shown to these people that force them to keep their mouths shut - whether it's infinite riches or the fear or infinite pain, nobody is saying anything.
