WTNH Meteorologist Arrested on Child Porn Charges

Police said Justin Goldstein, 33, of Hamden, was arrested at his place of work, WTNH-TV, in New Haven Wednesday. He has been charged with first-degree possession of child pornography and promoting a minor in an obscene performance, police said.

The investigation began in June when videos of suspected child pornography were downloaded from an account assigned to Goldstein, according to a news release from police.

Investigators went to Goldstein's home on Aspen Glen Drive in Hamden Wednesday to execute a search warrant and police said they seized various computer equipment and found files of suspected child porn at the scene.

Kool & the Gang co-founder Dennis Thomas dead at 70

Kool & the Gang co-founder Dennis Thomas died Saturday in New Jersey where he was a longtime resident, his representatives announced. He was 70.

A news released noted the musician, who went professionally by the name "Dee Tee," had "passed away peacefully in his sleep."

No official cause of death has been disclosed.

Alabama man shot dead in police anti-drug operation

An Alabama man was shot dead during drug-related police activity, although the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency isn't saying who shot him or what led up to the gunshots.

Nathan Larry Parsons, a 49-year-old Gardendale man, died Friday at the Good Hope Campground on the south side of Cullman, local news outlets report.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the shooting involved state and local officers assigned to the State Bureau of Investigation's Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force.

No officers or agents were injured.

The agency refused to release further information, citing an ongoing investigation. It said results of the investigation will be turned over to the Cullman County district attorney, who will decide whether to seek criminal charges.
