Only to humbly clarify some points that could be obscure for those who do not know the dynamics and the internal practice of the Roman Church. It is in fact possible,if not certain, that many modern popes, but laso the old ones, have signed their resignation still alive. It is known that at the end of the mandate (which coincides with death) all documentation relating to the papal administration is sealed and archived to be subsequently made available to researchers and scholars (the famous Secret Archive, where Secret means afferent to the secretariat of the Pope). For example, Pope Paul VI (Giovanni Battista Enrico Antonio Maria Montini) also signed his resignation. The images concern the original letter of resignation (of course in Italian,a second copy is written in Latin).
