Hundreds of buildings destroyed by the biggest single wildfire ever recorded in California
The biggest single wildfire ever recorded in California continued raging on Tuesday as fire crews attempted to defend rural communities against the blaze that has destroyed hundreds of homes, according to the Associated Press.
Clear skies above portions of the Dixie Fire have enabled aircraft to rejoin firefighting efforts this week, the outlet noted.
"Whether or not we can fly depends very much on where the smoke is. There's still some areas where it's just too smoky," fire spokesperson Edwin Zuniga said, according to the AP.
The blaze by Tuesday had wrecked almost 900 homes and other buildings, the outlet reported, noting that a great deal of the community of Greenville burned last week. However, reports are "definitely subject to change" since assessment teams cannot venture into many areas to tally what has been burned, Zuniga said.
Thousands of acres of new fire lines have been cut by crews in an effort to block the inferno from spreading, the AP noted. Officials think the fire lines on the fire's southern side will keep the blaze in check there, but the future of the fire is unknown, authorities said, according to the outlet.
"We don't know where this fire is going to end and where it's going to land. It continues to challenge us," Chris Carlton, supervisor for Plumas National Forest, said, according to the outlet.
The inferno is around half as large as the August Complex, a series of 2020 lightning-induced blazes in seven counties that were battled together and that California officials view as the state's biggest wildfire overall, the AP noted.
Wildfires burning in the Golden State number among some 100 big fires in 15 states, largely in the West, according to the outlet.
Not only is the Dixie Fire is the biggest single fire in California history, it is also the biggest fire that is presently ablaze in the country.
Almost a quarter of the firefighters assigned to tackle Western blazes are battling Golden State fires, Rocky Oplinger, an incident commander, said, according to the Associated Press.

CNN Gets Scammed, Helps Fake Mom Raise $230k to Avoid Eviction
CNN recently interviewed Dasha Kelly, a “single mother of three small girls” facing eviction. CNN found Kelly’s GoFundMe pitch asking for $2,000 to pay her rent and decided to bring her on the air to promote her cause.
In a teary-eyed piece, Kelly told CNN that she and “her children” might soon be living on the street if she doesn’t come up with roughly $1,900 for her landlord. CNN showed up at her apartment to interview her. The kids called her “mom.” The bleeding hearts at CNN were happy to push Kelly’s GoFundMe. The caption on the CNN screen said: “Mom braces for eviction.” CNN brownnoser Nick Watt was almost too willing to pimp the schemer Kelly, stating on air: “Dasha Kelly has started a GoFundMe page to try and cover that rent, $2,000. It’s a Hail Mary, she says she’s praying for a miracle, hoping for a miracle.”
CNN’s small yet mostly white, guilt-ridden, politically correct suckers audience quickly dried their eyes and sent Kelly almost a quarter of a million dollars. The top donor sent $15,000.
Hoping for a miracle? He knew mentioning it would bring a deluge of cash to Kelly. If Watt were an amphibian he would be a Virtue Signaling Toady.
Here’s the punchline: Kelly lied. She isn’t the mother of the three girls. CNN got scammed and Kelly made mad cheddar, yo.
The first description on the GoFundMe page stated:
My name is Kelly and I have 3 daughters living in Nevada. We were maintaining just fine before this pandemic hit. Now we are suffering. We do have EBT for food, and also applied for Chap. However, they do not assist immediately. We owe $1,900 for rent alone not including utilities. I will figure out utilities by pawning a few things. As you all know it is entirely still to [sic] hot to be homeless. My daughter’s [sic] are aged 5, 6, and 8. Please help with anything you can.
Attention-starved Rep. Cori Bush, who isn’t even her representative, jumped on the bandwagon: “When I say your Congresswoman loves you, this is what I mean. Kelly, I may not be your representative, but…”
If you’re not Kelly’s representative, then why did you say, “Your rep loves you?” Oh, that’s right, you’re on a spotlight bender. Have you congratulated your fellow Missourians, the McCloskeys, for being pardoned for defending their home?
FACT-O-RAMA: There were two days between the last eviction moratorium lapsed and the new one took its place. In Nevada, it takes five days just to start the eviction process.

Here We Go Again: Dozens Of Major Events Are Being Cancelled Across The Country Due To Covid
Here we go again.
Just when we thought life would be returning back to "normal", that vaccines were going to bring us back to the way things were in 2019 and that the government overreach and hysteria would finally come to a close, events are being cancelled left and right heading into the fall in what is looking like a carbon copy of 2020…all over again.
It was announced yesterday that the famous New Orleans Jazz Festival for 2021 would be cancelled due to "rising cases" of Covid in the state, according to CNN.
The festival said it was being cancelled "as a result of the current exponential growth of new Covid cases in New Orleans and the region and the ongoing public health emergency."
The festival had already been moved from April and May to October as a result of the pandemic and was supposed to feature the Rolling Stones, Foo Fighters and Lizzo.
"We now look forward to next spring, when we will present the Festival during its traditional timeframe. Next year's dates are April 29 – May 8, 2022," the festival said on its website.
Sure. We'll see about that.
New Orleans also cancelled its famous Red Dress Run. Despite the cancellation, its likely that people are going to show up to do it anyways, NOLA.com reported.
The event "combines self-paced jogging, tongue-in-cheek cross-dressing, and unabashed alcohol consumption" and is run by running club the Hash House Harriers. The two mile run through the French Quarter usually raises tons of money for charity. 2019's entry fees totaled $139,000.
One board member said he'd be "stunned" if people don't just "show up anyways".
New Orleans also cancelled its 2021 Gretna Heritage Festival, which was set for October 22-24.
Outside of Louisiana, rock band Limp Bizkit has also cancelled its tour dates for August due to "safety concerns related to Covid-19".
“Out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of the band, crew and most of all the fans, the Limp Bizkit show this Monday and the remaining August tour is being cancelled,” the band said on its website, according to Rolling Stone. The band was supposed to play in New Jersey last Friday and cancelled hours before the show started.
