My experience voting in the 2020 primary in CA was absolutely a shit show. My jaw hit the floor. There were maybe a dozen computers, only one was working. I waited an hour and a half in line. The pollworkers were frazzled, asked me in front of EVERYONE whether I was R or D, then filled out a proxy ballot for me by hand, and put it in a box at her feet under the table. Gave me a slip with a number to check within 30 days whether my vote was accepted. I never bothered to check.
