The Texas Senate has passed a bill with new voting restrictions on Thursday morning, after a Democratic Texas lawmaker finished a roughly 15-hour filibuster where she had to speak constantly and not lean on her desk, eat, drink or use the restroom in protest of the state’s Republican-backed legislation.

Lawmakers in Texas’s upper house voted 18-11 in favor of the bill aimed at enhancing election security.

Debate on the measure began Wednesday evening before State Senator Carol Alvarado began speaking continuously and wrapped just before 9 a.m. local time on Thursday.

Tyson Employees Walk Off Job To Protest Vaccine Mandate

A group of around a dozen Tyson Foods employees in West Tennessee took to the streets of Newbern on Wednesday to protest the company's new vaccine mandate.

The employees say they're risking their jobs to fight against the recent corporate decision to require all employees to take the Covid-19 vaccine, according to KFVS12.

While nobody from the group would speak on camera to news crews - citing their employment agreements, one local business owner spoke on their behalf.

"Nobody wants to be pressured to do anything, especially to their own body, that they don’t want to do," said Jill Blessing. "For Tyson to actually say, hey, get the shot or you lose your job, and some of these people, I talked to a girl who has worked here 30 years. And that’s a huge thing to put on somebody when that’s their livelihood."

Around 650 people work at this particular plant.

Fauci Confirms "Likely, Inevitable" Everyone Will Need COVID Vaccine Booster Shot

Within the space of a few days, the narrative has shifted from "if" booster shots are even necessary, to "only for immunocompromised", to "only for those who got vaccinations early on, due to fading efficacy", and now today, His Omniscience Anthony Fauci told 'CBS This Morning' that while it is imminent that immune compromised people will get Covid-19 vaccine booster shots, it is likely that at some point in the future everyone will need one.

“It’s likely that that will happen at some time in the future,” Fauci said, when asked if everyone will need a booster shot at some point.

That's "science" folks!

Fauci noted that this is data is being followed in real time, “literally on a weekly and monthly basis,” with cohorts of all different populations to determine if the level of protection is starting to attenuate.

“When it does get to a certain level, we will be prepared to give boosters to those people, but from what you just said a moment ago, it is imminent that we will be giving it to immune compromised,” he said.

As a reminder, the FDA is reportedly expected to announce soon that it will authorize COVID-19 vaccine booster shots for immunocompromised Americans.

Fauci also said during an interview on NBC News' "Today" show Thursday, that:

"Inevitably, there will be a time when we'll have to give boosts to the general population."

As far as furiously moving goalposts goes, Fauci admittred earlier in the week that the Delta variant presents the additional problem that vaccinated people can also transmit the virus to someone else. That has led to the CDC revising its mask guidelines recently. But, he stressed:

“The vaccines are still doing what you originally want them to do – to keep you out of the hospital to prevent you from getting seriously ill.”

Actually, what the CDC "originally" wanted the vaccines to do, was to prevent those who were jabbed from infecting others. Only later did we learn that too was a fabrication.

Perhaps the most 'new' science is the following…

"No vaccine, at least not within this category, is going to have an indefinite amount of protection."

Fauci comments come as debate grows over “breakthrough” infections among fully vaccinated people and whether approval should be given for booster shots. On Sunday, Israel, the first nation to roll out booster shots widely, said it had given more than 420,000 third shots to people 60 and over. At least 14 Israelis have already caught Covid-19 after having been injected with a booster shot, suggesting that the booster shot will be the first of many, and will likely last all the way through the mid-term elections because, well, mail-in ballots next November.

Danish WHO Chief Says COVID "Patient Zero" Was Likely Wuhan Lab Worker

One of the World Health Organization’s leading infectious diseases experts says that the first COVID ‘patient zero’ was “likely” a lab worker at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Peter Embarek, who spearheaded a WHO team sent to investigate the lab earlier this year, told Danish television that the likely source of the pandemic was someone infected by a bat during fieldwork or at one of the laboratories in Wuhan.

“This is where the virus jumps directly from a bat to a human,” reports Denmark’s TV 2 News.

“In that case, it would then be a laboratory worker instead of a random villager or other person who has regular contact with bats. So it is actually in the probable category.”

The report notes that the type of bat involved in passing on the infection, the horse shoe bat, was only present inside the Wuhan lab and does not live naturally in the general Wuhan area.

“An employee who was infected in the field by taking samples falls under one of the probable hypotheses,” said Embarek.

Embarek’s new assessment contradicts the results of the WHO investigation, which originally asserted that the lab leak origin was “extremely unlikely.”

The new measure will come into effect from next Wednesday. The government will fund the testing of children aged three to 11, ensuring youngsters present a negative result before entering public places, such as hotels, gyms, pools or schools.

The Israeli government has already implemented a Covid-19 pass for citizens aged 12 and older, ordering them to present a Green Pass that shows if they’ve had a vaccination, tested negative or recently recovered from the virus.

To meet the increased demand, Israel’s national blood and medical emergency service, Magen David Adom, has opened 120 rapid antigen testing centers, where residents can quickly find out their status. For those aged 12 and older, a test costs 52 shekels ($16.14) and, if a negative result is returned, individuals receive a Green Pass that is valid for 24 hours.

Israel has extended its double dose vaccination program to individuals aged 12 and older, with individuals who are 60 and over able to get a third booster vaccination. The government is currently weighing extending the booster jab to younger age groups, with a decision expected to be announced next week.

Despite the success of the vaccine rollout in Israel, the country has suffered a resurgence of cases, as the Delta variant has fueled the country’s infection rate. As of Thursday, the Israeli health ministry has recorded a total of 921,083 cases and 6,593 deaths since the pandemic began, with 5,964 new infections in the past 24 hours.

The use of the Green Pass has been extended until December 31, 2021, and must be presented when entering public places, alongside ID documentation, such as a driving license.

‘No one is above the law,’ Met Police warns Prince Andrew, as force reexamines sexual assault allegations

The Metropolitan Police commissioner, Dame Cressida Dick, confirmed on Thursday that the force is conducting a review into the allegations of sexual assault against Prince Andrew, declaring that “no one is above the law.”

Dick’s comments were in response to the filing of a lawsuit in a US court by Virginia Giuffre, accusing Prince Andrew of sexual assault, battery and inflicting emotional distress on her when she was 17.

Speaking to UK radio station LBC, Dick stated that “as a result of what’s going on,” her force is having “another look at the material” relevant to the allegations. However, the Met commissioner said that, despite the review, no formal investigation into Prince Andrew is currently underway.

In a potential warning, Dick was clear that “no one is above the law,” indicating that, if evidence of a crime is discovered, UK authorities could launch a probe into Prince Andrew.

Giuffre has stated that she is intent on “holding Prince Andrew accountable” for what he did to her, ensuring that “the powerful and rich are not exempt from being held responsible for their actions.”

In the lawsuit, Giuffre alleges that Prince Andrew abused her on numerous occasions before she was 18, including at a London property owned by Ghislaine Maxwell and at Jeffrey Epstein’s New York mansion. Within the court filing, lawyers representing the plaintiff included a 2001 infamous photo of Giuffre and the royal at Maxwell’s home. Prince Andrew has suggested that the photo could be a forgery.

The Met has previously stated that it is willing to help US authorities “at any stage” of their investigation into the allegations against the royal amid “renewed focus on Mr. Epstein’s friends and associates which could potentially instigate further criminal and/or civil investigations.”

The 61-year-old prince, the second son of Queen Elizabeth II and the late Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, has repeatedly denied the allegations. During a 2019 interview with BBC Panorama, Prince Andrew said he had “no recollection” of meeting Giuffre and declared that the alleged sexual activity “never happened.”

HHS Becomes Latest Federal Agency to Mandate COVID-19 Vaccines for Workers

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Thursday said that it will require all of its frontline health care workers to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, according to agency Secretary Xavier Becerra.

HHS is now the third federal agency to require its employees to receive the vaccine, joining the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense.

“Staff at the Indian Health Service (IHS) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) who serve in federally-operated health care and clinical research facilities and interact with, or have the potential to come into contact with, patients will be required to receive the COVID-19 vaccine,” Becerra said in a statement on Thursday.

The policy will apply to more than 25,000 individuals who operate health and clinical research facilities, or who could come into contact with patients.

“Our number one goal is the health and safety of the American public, including our federal workforce, and the vaccines are the best tool we have to protect people from COVID-19, prevent the spread of the Delta variant, and save lives,” Becerra said.

The list of staff who must get vaccinated includes not only employees, but contractors, trainees, and volunteers who are in contact with patients in HHS medical or research facilities.

According to the HHS statement, Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said that members of the Public Health Service Commissioned Corps also “immediately” need to get vaccinated as part of “medical readiness procedures to prepare for any potential deployment need as emergency responders.”

The initiative echoes a mandate from the Department of Veterans Affairs, which implemented the policy soon after the Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Counsel determined in late July that it was legal for private businesses and public agencies to require COVID-19 vaccines.

The DOJ’s opinion, which noted that some have questioned the legality of such mandates, concluded that federal law concerning the Food and Drug Administration’s emergency use authorizations on COVID-19 vaccines do not “prohibit public or private entities from imposing vaccine requirements, even when the only vaccines available are those authorized under EUAs.”

Report: San Francisco to Require Vaccine Papers for Many Indoor Activities

San Francisco will mandate proof of full coronavirus vaccination for various indoor activities such as restaurants, bars, and gyms, according to a Thursday report.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports:

Many bars and restaurants around San Francisco have already taken it upon themselves to ask patrons to show their vaccination cards before they enter. The process has largely gone well, restaurateurs say. Mayor London Breed plans to announce a city-wide requirement Thursday morning.

This month, New York City became the first city to announce that it would require proof of at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for indoor activities; that mandate takes effect on Aug. 16. San Francisco’s requirement will go a step further, with a full dosage requirement.

The report comes after San Francisco and six other Bay Area counties announced earlier this August that they are reinstating mask mandates for all indoor public settings as part of an effort to combat the surge in cases of the coronavirus delta variant.

“It is unfortunate we have to do this at this point in the pandemic. None of us wanted to be here,” Dr. George Han, deputy health officer for Santa Clara County, said in a press conference at the time. “But the virus has changed.”

“We are facing a much more aggressive and contagious opponent right now,” said Sundari Mase, the interim health officer for Sonoma County.

New York City previously announced that it will soon require proof of coronavirus vaccinations for individuals who seek to dine indoors at a restaurant or attend a performance.

The new requirement, which will be phased in over several weeks in August and September, is the most aggressive step the city has taken yet to curb a surge in cases caused by the delta variant. People will have to show proof that they have had at least one vaccine dose.

“The only way to patronize these establishments indoors will be if you’re vaccinated,” de Blasio said. “The goal here is to convince everyone that this is the time. If we’re going to stop the delta variant, the time is now.”

The Democrat said some details still need to be worked out, including rules affecting children under 12, who are not yet eligible for any of the approved vaccines. The policy will go into effect on Aug. 16 but inspections and enforcement won’t begin until Sept. 13 — the week the city’s public schools reopen for fall.

French Mayors Rebel, Say They Will Not Enforce Vaccine Passport at Cafes

Two French mayors in Beziers and Hayange have called on police not to enforce vaccine passport controls in cafes or restaurants.

Fabien Engelmann, mayor of Hayange and a member of Marine Le Pen’s National Rally (RN), asked local police not to enforce the coronavirus health pass in the commune, arguing that the domestic vaccine passport was anti-freedom.

“It is not the job of the municipal police, nor the national police, to carry out checks to determine whether or not they have the right to drink coffee or eat something,” Mr Engelmann said on Tuesday, according to Actu.

“Some municipalities use their municipal police to police the merchants. In Hayange, we are choosing to support them during this difficult time,” he added.

Mayor of Béziers Robert Ménard, a close ally of Marine Le Pen but not a member of the National Rally, has also announced that police in his city will not demand to see the health pass for people who are in outdoor areas of cafes and restaurants.

“I am in favour of the health pass, but on the terraces, it doesn’t make sense,” Ménard stated on Monday, according to France Bleu.

Video footage of police patrolling the streets of Paris and demanding health pass papers went viral earlier this week, with many criticising officers’ actions.

Since Monday, the health pass has been required for all those entering restaurants, bars, and cafes across France as well as being mandator for some travel on busses, trains, and aeroplanes.

The pass records whether or not a person has been vaccinated, information on recent negative tests, and whether the individual has recovered from the Chinese virus within the last six months.

Businesses that do not check customers have the health pass could face fines of up to €45,000 (£38,090/$52,826) and a year in prison. Those who refuse to produce the health pass can be fined €135 (£114/$158) for a first offence but up to €9,000 (£7,618/$10,565) for repeat offenders.

Texas Pharma Company Loses Tens of Millions of Opiate Doses, Says DEA

HOUSTON, Texas — Drug Enforcement Administration agents seized 27 trailer loads of opiates from a Woodfield Pharma distribution center. Investigators believe the company lost tens of millions of opiate doses over the past three years.

“We are taking custody of product that has a high likelihood of diversion and we are going to safely secure it in another location,” Erik Smith, Associate Special Agent in Charge (ASAC) with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Houston Division told Fox 26 Houston’s Greg Groogan in an exclusive report. The Fox 26 team was on the scene of what is described as the largest narcotics seizure in Fort Bend County’s history.

Groogan described the definition of “diversion” as the re-routing of highly addictive, highly dangerous opiates into the black market for illegal sale.

The civil seizure of the massive quantities of narcotics took place at the warehouse of Woodfield Pharma, also known as WDSrx. The Boca Raton, Florida, company is a contract pharmaceutical manufacturer and distributor established more than 30 years ago.

ASAC Smith told Groogan, “This is really the foundation of the opioid crisis in the United States. In an illicit market, Tramadol is used as a foundation for pills that are laced with Fentanyl, pressed and sold on the streets as counterfeit Oxycodone.”

Prior to the seizure on Wednesday, DEA investigators found evidence of “large, suspicious, duplicate orders, on a monthly, sometimes weekly basis,” Fox 26 reported. They also found lax security at the warehouse including “cameras that failed to function.”

ASAC Tony Hubbard added, “We see these pills ending up on college campuses cramming for an exam thinking it’s Adderall or some other type of substance and they take it and they die.”

Hubbard told Fox 26 that they believe much of the inventory Woodfield can’t account for has been siphoned off and diverted into the black market where deadly drug overdoses are at the highest level in U.S. history.

“What we are dealing with today is where we cross that line, that threshold from legitimate medical practice to illicit use that only fuels addiction and death,” ASAC Smith concluded.

Inland Texas County Sees 900% Spike in Migrants Hiding on Freight Trains

On Tuesday, Uvalde County Sheriff Ruben Nolasco and his deputies helped Border Patrol agents search freight trains entering the rural Texas town. In what has become a local trend, more than 50 migrants were pulled from a train.

The Border Patrol faces staffing challenges due to the humanitarian care demands from the migrant influx. Manpower shortages make checking trains more challenging, considering the spike in migrants using rail to sidestep the asylum process.

Border Patrol reports more than 5,200 migrants have been found riding on the trains in Uvalde since October 2020, an increase of 900 percent compared to the previous year. Nearly 1,000 were discovered in July 2021 alone.

The staffing challenges could prove deadly for the migrants. Freight is notoriously unfriendly to stowaways. Accidents and fatalities can occur when migrants are struck, crushed by shifting cargo, suffocated, or overexposed.

Earlier this month, Sheriff Nolasco’s deputies responded to an incident at the rail siding involving an injured Honduran migrant. The man’s foot was caught and severed under the wheels as he attempted to jump from the moving train. The migrant was treated by EMS at the scene and later flown to a hospital in San Antonio for additional care.

Most of the migrants discovered on the Tuesday train boarded in nearby Eagle Pass. The Texas Department of Transportation notes that nearly 400,000 rail cars enter the United States each year from Mexico at Eagle Pass. Most cars will travel through Uvalde and absent a significant change in the flow of migrants crossing the border illegally, the situation along the rail line is unlikely to improve.

40% of illegal aliens being bused to Laredo, Texas have tested positive for Covid-19.

The city of Laredo, Texas, has refused to take in migrants who have been bused in from elsewhere on the border after discovering 40% of them tested positive for the coronavirus, according to two local government officials.

“That was very high,” Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz said in an interview, referring to the infection rate among migrants dropped off by the Border Patrol last week. Laredo health authority, Dr. Victor Trevino, confirmed the numbers.

Concerned that migrants arriving in Laredo would further strain hospital resources, Laredo officials contracted private bus companies to transport migrants arriving from the Rio Grande Valley to larger cities across the state. By not admitting migrants on the McAllen buses, the city is not required to test them for the coronavirus and could forward the families elsewhere. Those who test positive cannot travel and must be quarantined for 10 days, a situation Saenz wanted to evade to avoid migrant overflow.

Last week it was reported that 15% of illegal aliens released from ICE custody in McAllen, Texas were infected with Covid.

The city of McAllen told Fox News that the federal government is releasing “an alarming number of immigrants into McAllen, and that the feds aren’t testing them for COVID.”

Secret Liberal Government Payments To Media Subvert Democracy

How can a country still be considered a democracy when our tax dollars are given – without our knowledge or consent – to media organizations that will then report on the election campaign and shape public perception?

It has been clear for some time that Canada is not really a fully democratic country, particularly within our political parties.

There is very little room for debate or disagreement within our centralized political institutions, where party leaders have the power to remove anyone they disagree with and basically end the careers of those who don’t ‘fall in line’ by refusing to sign nomination papers.

However, since Canadians are free to start new parties, and since parties are private institutions, a lack of democracy within parties doesn’t complete preclude Canadians from having democratic choice.

But, if the government was secretely giving away our taxpayer dollars to media organizations ahead of an election, that would constitute a much larger assault on democracy in Canada.

As you’ve probably guessed, that’s exactly what the Liberals have done.

Biden meets with the CEOs of United Airlines and Howard University to try and get MORE American companies to mandate vaccines for employees

Joe Biden held a virtual meeting on Wednesday with the CEOs of United Airlines and Kaiser Permanente as well as the president of Howard University and the owner of a South Carolina-based small business called DESA, Inc. after they each mandated COVID vaccines for their workforces.

Biden expressed his appreciation for the eclectic group's initiative and 'stepping up to protect the lives of their employees and communities,' according to a White House memo sent afterwards.

'During the meeting, the leaders shared how they arrived at their decision to require vaccinations and how they are working to implement their own requirements,' the memo read.

Biden also encouraged them each to try and influence others within their industries to follow suit and share how they made it work.

He promised that the federal government would stand behind private sector businesses that mandated COVID vaccines as the White House continues to try and ramp up vaccination rates that have fallen in recent months.

The public show of support comes two weeks after Biden required all federal workers - about 4 million people - to sign forms attesting they've been vaccinated.

Government’s Own Jobs Report puts Jobless Rate Above 30% in July While US Actually Lost About 100,000 Jobs Not Gained 900,000

The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) put out its most recent report on the unemployment situation recently. I’ve long had a problem with the numbers this government agency publishes. Over the years they have been brazenly manipulated and much of the data it purports to show isn’t much more than a glorified guess. The report is made up of at least two elements; first the household survey from which it gets the official unemployment rate at 5.4% in July 2021 (-0.4% in July) and second a so-called establishment survey.

The first is just what it sounds like, an in person or telephone survey of US households compiled to figure out what proportion of workers are employed. By contrast the establishment survey is a combination survey and guesstimate. The first element surveys about 144,000 business establishments and government agencies compared to the about 32,500,000 businesses that used to be estimated to exist in the US; collecting data on numbers of workers at each firm, their hours worked and earnings. The second element is essentially a fancy formula used to guess at the number of new business establishments created or destroyed in the unsurveyed segment of the economy. (Note: It is likely the number of surveyed firms has also declined with the downturn.) From here the BLS comes up with an average number of jobs created or destroyed with all of these firms, giving us by far the biggest part of this figure in this survey (+938,000 in July).

According to the latter segment of this “survey” the economy saw increases in employment in leisure and hospitality (+380,000), education (+261,000), transportation and warehousing (+50,000), professional and business services (+43,000) and other services (+39.000) among others.

But these numbers don’t capture the whole picture. The BLS’ methodology and the size of their data sets bring much of this information into question. First because the unemployment rate from the household survey only takes into account workers considered in the labor force. This means workers who have been out of work for a period considered too long by the government and whose unemployment benefits have run out are no longer counted in this figure, affecting the laborforce participation rate at 61.7% in July (+0.1%).

Sean Penn says Americans should be FORCED to have a COVID vaccine and those who don't are like reckless drivers: Star refused to return to set of his show until every cast and crew member had been jabbed

Actor Sean Penn has said he believes that Americans should be forced to have a COVID vaccine by law.

He compared vaccine mandates to setting speed limits in an effort to prevent reckless driving, and insisted a law compelling people to be jabbed was reasonable.

'This is one of those things that should be mandatory,' Penn told Yahoo Entertainment. 'My deep belief, personally, is that it's no different having everybody being able to drive 100 miles an hour in a car.'

He argues that all Americans should get the shot, with the exception being for those with medical conditions that prohibit them from doing so.

'I think that vaccines need to be mandatory and that businesses the movie business and all businesses need to take the lead and not be so timid when dealing with their collective bargaining partners,' he continued.

Penn also expressed his frustration with Americans who are eligible to get the shot but remain hesitant to do so.

'There's different kinds of hesitancies, and so I don't think that there's much excuse to not know the informational available anymore,' he said. 'That's part of why I think it should be mandatory.'

'A resistance that's just based on a certain kind of… lack of imagination and understanding of anything that's helpful to the human race, I've become very frustrated by that. But I can only work within my own bounds and say that, for me, it should be mandatory.'

Throughout the pandemic, Penn has been vocal about wanting people to take precautions against coronavirus.

He reportedly offered free COVID tests at the Black Lives Matter protests last summer, as well as insisted on following guidelines from health experts at his own wedding.

Penn also refused to the set of Gaslit, a Starz limited series about the Watergate scandal, unless the entire cast and crew were vaccinated.

Meanwhile, the U.S. vaccination rollout has picked up the pace with the country now averaging more than 700,000 vaccinations a day - the highest rate in over a month.

The daily average for Americans getting their first doses is more 500,000, the highest in over two months, according to the White House COVID-19 data director.

More than 195 million Americans have now received at least one dose of a COVID vaccine, representing just over half of the population.

VA to Require COVID-19 Vaccine for All Health Care Workers and Hospital Volunteers

Starting Friday, the Department of Veterans Affairs will require nearly all health care personnel, support staff, volunteers and contractors in the Veterans Health Administration to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. That means almost every one of the 360,000 employees of the VHA will be required to get the vaccine by Oct. 8.

VA Secretary Denis McDonough announced Thursday that the employees who work under the designations "Hybrid Title 38" and "Title 5" must be vaccinated in the next eight weeks or face disciplinary action.

The personnel include psychologists, pharmacists, social workers, nursing assistants, physical therapists, respiratory therapists, peer specialists, medical support assistants, engineers, housekeepers and other clinical, administrative and infrastructure support employees, according to a VA press release.

In addition, volunteers and contractors who work in VA medical centers or clinics, "visit VHA facilities or otherwise come into contact with VA patients and healthcare workers" must be immunized, the release adds.

"We're now including most VHA employees and volunteers and contractors in the vaccine mandate because it remains the best way to keep veterans safe, especially as the Delta variant spreads across the country," McDonough explained in the release.
